Just had our 1st horrible encounter at this Trader Joe's.
My friend went in 1st & I waited in the car because I did not feel like going in.
He came out & said that the cashier who rang him up said something along the lines of, "Another one of these people. He better have the right amount on his card." Another guy (another customer) in the next line over told the cashier, "That's r a c i s t." Then she responded, "How is that r a c i s t?". He said, "You were engaging with the other customer before him talking about what you were going to do after you get off at 6PM even though the customer was ignoring you." She said, "Sir, mind your business. You are in the other line. Focus on that line."
My friend came out & told me this & was very upset about it as he was already having a difficult day so I told him I was going to go in & make a purchase to get in her same line to see how she acts. He came with me but not without some convincing.
We got to her line again & while waiting, we observed that she made conversation with the woman in front of us. Great. I thought, she must conversate with us now, right? No, I was wrong.
When she got to us, she did not say hi or anything.
Just took the 2 items out of the cart & rang us up. She actually made conversation with the woman behind us while we were paying.
I was shocked. My friend was still upset so I told him it was okay to leave with the cart while I went up to the manager behind the podium.
I pointed her out & told the manager she made a r a c i s t comment to my friend about him needing to have the correct amount & only conversating with those who looked like her. I said it was unacceptable & he agreed but I am unsure if he truly cared about the situation.
Anyways, she truly is living up to her name Karen.
