The Best Places to Eat in 2026 | Condé Nast Traveler

"Opened December 2025, this 20-seater alleyway bar is dedicated to the traditional beaten-rice spirit aylā and even hides a petite boutique hotel above its bijou den—small, serious, and wonderfully Nepali." - Megan Spurrell, Arati Menon

The top floor is pretty amazing. The terrace is just an empty rooftop, but the room is beautiful. There’s an entrance kinda room to take your shoes off, so it feels like an apartment. Authentic design, heavy wooden furniture, that places nicely in a spacious room. Cutest little balcony (watch your head) and a great shower room (although the sink is kinda odd). Breakfast is included and very decent, which makes their deal offer a steal. Romantic hideaway right in the middle of Patan. Times better, than the pictures provided.

I spent 10 days here in February 2024 and now I am back in 2025. A very tastefully restored old building with great food and very nice, helpful and friendly staff. I love the food and home-made bread and breakfast is available the whole day. Whether staying overnight or for a meal, I will keep coming back. I love the place! An oasis amidst a buzzing area with Patan Durbar Square just 2 minutes walking distance away.

This hotel is perfectly located near the Patan Square on a no traffic street. This guest house is an authentic Nepalese home that has been tastefully converted with amenities. The staff is great and most helpful. A delicious Breakfast that is made to order is included in the daily rate. The cook is masterful so I opted to eat dinner several times. Really enjoyed my stay.

We stayed at this lovely charming hotel for 2 nights without having known anything about Kathmandu before. And we were so positively impressed that we would come back any time! Super friendly and helpful staff, beautiful room, very quiet but at the same time in the middle of beautiful and charming Patan.

It has been more than a decade since I first stayed at Traditional Homes. I walked in off the street after a booking at another hotel was unavailable and the manager was so friendly showing me to a beautiful room on the second floor. And then as we got talking he found out that I was the photographer who did publicity shots for them a decade ago. He then offered an upgrade with the suite on the top floor with a small terrace looking out over the city. It was as clean and as elegant as it was 10 years ago. Absolutely love this place and give the place, their staff, location and food all 5 stars. |Two minutes from the amazing museum and the square. Thank you. Definitely we will come again.

I love this place and have stayed here countless times. It is a beautifully restored, old house, right in the centre of Patan, very near Durbar Square, but in a sideline, so it does not feel touristy. The rooms are full of character, with beautiful wooden details. The decor and bedding is all quite minimalistic, which I like, but might not be for everyone. Everything is spotless and comfort is taken care of, e.g. electric blankets for winter. I would also like to mention the breakfast, which is delicious and healthy, and the coffee is excellent!

This hotel has historical character and charm. One of the highlights was the delicious breakfast served daily, I particularly enjoyed dinning in the restaurant which offered a splendid view of a charming alley. The hotel staff deserves special mention for their exceptional hospitality. When my sister fell ill, they went above and beyond by granting us a late checkout until late afternoon. I can’t say thank you enough for their warm service^^

A very unique, rustic and charming guesthouse. There are steep stairs to the bedrooms so not good for people with mobility issues. A very nice room with comfortable bed, hot shower, tea and coffee making facilities, some toiletries, hairdryer on request. One minute from Durbar Square. Their cafe is open all day serving good food and the breakfast was the best we had on our tour of Nepal. A great but too short stay.
