Trailborn Highlands

Positive: Friendly staff, outdoor seating area around the firepit. Negative: Price seemed high for the amenities provided.

Excellent location and amenities at this beautiful hotel! Rooms are chic and cute, large king beds with modern luxury, gives you a feel of a boutique hotel. Wound insulation was excellent, so was the hot water pressure. Dual access for lower bedrooms to the parking lot and the hallway was very convenient. Fire pits were a nice added touch.

When arriving the exterior looked nice as well as the lobby. Check in as a breeze and the staff was very nice. That is where nice ended though. The room completely sucked! We had a large suite that was literally not equipped with anything. Two paper cups for the whole room. The fridge would not go below 45 with is not good safe. The room looked like they spent as little money possibly on the remodel and was not up to Marriott standards at all! I have stayed in Marriott’s in shady parts of town off the interstate that put this place to shame. The absolute worst was the bathroom. I’ve seen nicer bathrooms at campgrounds, it was totally unacceptable for such a price and nice area. Then when we thought it could not get worse the fire pit smoke outside the room was coming in when the heat was on so we woke up out headaches and all out stuff smelling like smoke. 100% avoid this location.

We recently stayed at Trailborn Highlands for my birthday weekend and had a mixed but mostly positive experience. Before we arrived, the staff was incredibly helpful and accommodating. They seemed genuinely eager to make the weekend feel special and even mentioned they’d have everything set up in the room for our dog, which we really appreciated. Because of those conversations, our expectations were set fairly high— especially regarding the birthday touches and pet accommodations. Unfortunately, once we arrived, there were a few small but noticeable disconnects. My late checkout hadn’t been noted (which was easily resolved, but it was one more thing to handle upon arrival). Regarding our dog, we had been told he’d have everything he needed, which led us to believe there might be bowls or a small setup in the room. Luckily we packed our own items, but based on the conversation beforehand, we might not have. It wasn’t a major issue — just another example of expectations being set higher than what was delivered. They also arranged a birthday dinner for us at the Supper Club and mentioned they would make it extra special. The food was wonderful (I’ll leave a separate review for the restaurant), but there didn’t seem to be any acknowledgment of the birthday, which again felt like a breakdown in communication somewhere along the line. The Nordic spa experience itself was lovely, and the staff member who welcomed us was great. However, some of the other staff didn’t seem as warm or happy to be there, which slightly impacted the overall vibe. That said, the hotel’s location is perfect for traveling with a dog. The rooms were comfortable and felt appropriate for the price point. We would absolutely stay here again for a casual getaway — we just likely wouldn’t choose it again for a special occasion.

Excellent!! We ended up extending our stay an additional night after such a warm welcome and wonderful first impressions.||||The front desk staff was incredible—so welcoming, informative, and genuinely friendly. We booked last minute, and I always look for Marriott options in the area, so I was excited to find Trailborn in the Highlands.||||The vibe is fantastic, and the furnishings (literally floor to ceiling) are so thoughtfully done. We stayed in a room with a fireplace the first night and a balcony the second night—both were clean, comfortable, and well-appointed.||||The market was also really nice with a great selection. The best part, though, was the Nordic sauna—such a cool experience. And the coffee and banana bread in the morning was the cherry on top.||||We’ll absolutely be back soon!

We had a wonderful stay. The gentleman at the front desk was wonderful and super helpful in making suggestions about what to do and where to stay. My husband used the sauna and absolutely love it. We also had a tent for indoor “camping” for our daughter. It was such a great experience, we would definitely stay here again!

My wife and I stayed at this hotel for our anniversary. The front desk went out of their way to leave us a handwritten card and provided a complimentary bottle of wine. The room was very clean and comfortable. We were provided with lots of information on amenities and activities to do in Highlands. The hotel was also as close as it gets to downtown. Thank you so much for an incredible stay!

Wonderful hotel in a great location. On one end of Main Street. Walk to great restaurants, shopping and candy shops. Hotel itself has an “modern and chic outdoorsy” hotel. Rooms are simple, modern and clean. Lobby has a nice area to sit and play games and have a drink. Coffee/tea and banana bread is a nice bonus!
