We went here as part of the city tour, it was interesting to visit and you can see how they pray as well. It’s a small complex so 30 mins was enough to go around and see everything. The weather was too hot when we came, so it made our visit a bit challenging as it was so hot. Especially this wasn’t our first stop in city tour, it was right in the middle, so a lot of energy has been gone after going around. So maybe avoid to come during middle of the day, either to go early or afternoon. Overall, it was nice to see and learn about this place.

Tran Quoc Pagoda is a must-visit when you're in Hanoi! Located on a small island in West Lake, it's the oldest pagoda in the city and offers a calm, spiritual atmosphere. The architecture is stunning, with its tall, red pagoda tower and detailed statues. I especially enjoyed walking around the garden area and seeing the Bodhi tree that was gifted from India. It's a great place to escape the city noise for a bit and take in some cultural and historical beauty. Make sure to dress modestly and go early in the morning for a quieter experience.

First of all I would say don’t be a stupid tourist like us (happens :)). At the entrance there was a sign to cover legs and my husband wore shorts. The places we visited before Vietnam were pretty strict with dress-code and it was our first pagoda to visit. There were ladies renting the cover for legs which also looked nice for pictures and we also didn’t want to disregard local rules. But then we saw so many other people with shorts and no one running after those people. So maybe visitors were lucky or they don’t chase after tourists with shorts. The rent wasn’t cheap btw 🥲😁 The pagoda itself looked beautiful and they was a nice green garden around it. It’s also free of charge and well maintained. I would recommend to come here during the sunset

Very busy place to stop for the taxi and to hop out quickly. Many people selling foods and other stuff out front. Pagoda is free to enter but donation boxes are placed for you. It's a low-cost place to visit but this also means it's an easy cheap tourist stop for tour companies. It's a shame but happens everywhere. Hopefully, they won't ruin it for future generations. The other thing is that with no staff to manage visitors, many are disrespectful of standard temple rules. Please be attentive and also do not take pictures inside the temple. It's disappointing to see photos on Google with critics' opinions on them. The water surrounding the temple needs some clean-up in our opinion. This is based on our N. American standards for clean water. Many people fish just a few steps further down the walk. I'm assuming they regularly fish there and have had no problems consuming the fish. Nevertheless, the water still looked pretty in pictures. I'm not sure I'd make this a must-see sight, but it's a nice area for a stop if you're looking to fill an empty timeslot in your day. We liked walking south towards the park and coffee shops more than the pagoda temple itself. Lots of locals just hanging out. The breeze was nice and cool on a hot day. Swan boats can be rented from the opposite side of the road.

Worth visit. Please note that they will force you to buy a silk wear in order to cover you legs and shoulders. You can buy it or you can just ignore and go inside. It's free. Don't pay anyone. The pagoda is soooo good. Full of energy.

A very interesting and beautiful place to visit. Even though it is a major tourist attraction, it is peaceful and serene. Be aware that both males and females must have their shoulders and knees covered to enter. One can buy scarves from vendors for approx $5 USD.

Didn't manage to pay any tickets, not sure if the other reviewers got scammed when they said need to pay. Had a few tour groups when I visited on 3 June. Has a nice pagoda and tree, which I googled and was told to turn 3 rounds clockwise to have good luck. Also has few boards that list the various karma actions.

Tran Quoc Pagoda is an ancient Buddhist temple located on the shores of West Lake. Difficult for our van to park nearby. Need to be aware of dress code (no shorts). No entry fee. Beautiful old buildings which are well preserved. Nice views across the lake.
