Trang Tien Ice cream

Wouldn’t go in unless it’s to cross this tourist spot off the list 😩 Don’t get lost along the side stalls along the road and miss entering the main plaza! Blueberry Mochi had some fruit bits, not bad. But the mochi was tough 😔 Ice Cream w Sticky Rice was literally just ice cream and sticky rice (hard and no flavor). Ice cream very basic with light flavor, 2 miserable scoops smaller than a golf ball. And most importantly, the display photo’s cup was overflowing with ingredients but the actual cup wasn’t even half-full.

Such a sweet little spot! I wasn’t expecting much, but the ice cream here really surprised me — smooth, creamy, and full of flavor. The portion was generous, and the price? Honestly, a steal. It’s rare to find good quality ice cream at this price these days. I tried the chocolate and coconut — both were refreshing and not overly sweet. Perfect for a hot afternoon in the city. Oct 2025: feels like you’re in ice cream fair where there are different rooms / stalls to get ice cream from in different forms. Mochi, cone, stick, drinks, cup. There are indoor seating areas and that is away from the heat, rain and / or cold. Sometimes limited flavours are released so watch out for those.

Trang Tien Ice Cream is a classic stop when strolling around Hoan Kiem Lake. The shop is clean and organized, with seating and fans that make it comfortable — a big plus. Prices are still cheap, making it easy to grab a quick treat. The taste may not feel as special as it once did, perhaps because life today is more abundant, so the nostalgic charm is harder to recapture. Still, it’s worth a visit to enjoy a piece of old Hanoi flavor.

We came here for ice cream. I love the place—how wonderful that it retains its old train station theme, and I enjoy the unique way of buying ice cream. Simple yet creative. The price is affordable, and the taste is excellent. I would definitely visit again.

May have been great in its hay day but now it is all about through put. Most flavours were sold out. We tried durian and taro. They were fine. Nothing to rave about. It is relatively cheap but other places have better ice cream. So spend your time elsewhere.

The ice cream was good but the counter staff service was very poor. Without a queue at all, it took them so long to attend to me. They also gave the wrong change to my friends. They need to seriously improve their service.
