This museum is located in the Hingetown neighborhood of Cleveland it is part of Cleveland Museum of Art. They sometimes have really cool exhibits like this one “Photography and Violins”. The exhibit was one man’s collection of over 250 photographs where violins incorporating violins. The circled image is of a man who could not play a violin but carved one out of wood with a pen knife. Go check it out but soon.

What a great exhibition : Raul De Nieves! Since what is on display is NOT permanent, each visit will hold something different. I think EVERYONE can agree, regardless of what you happen to see this is an INCREDIBLE addition to the area. Always worth a stop because you never know what you might find.

Such a great gallery! The photobook exhibition I came to see was well worh the drive from Pittsburgh. I spend hours looking at each of the books. Friendly and informative staff. Don't forget to walk up the street to visit Spaces.

Great little museum that is a part of the Cleveland Museum of Art. Special exhibits change regularly.

Lovely place! Small parking lot with wheelchair accessible entry. Pleasant staff. Amazing restrooms. Interesting installations. Located on a corner with a few equally interesting options to complete our visit. Reservations of a time slot is easy and have not been there when crowded by any measure. I will definitely return.

I came for a oen air concert on the lawn. It was my first time visiting the area as I recently moved to eastern Cleveland. The concert was cool. Lots of people and beer vendors nearby. I may visit again to check out some of the restaurants in the area. The art exhibits were so interesting. Cool spot I would recommend and the neighborhood looks fun as well.

Very unique museum. Rotates different exhibits and what we viewed today was a fantastic display of mixed mediums reflective of cultural costuming. Staff was very friendly and provided valuable information about the display and how to best view the displays from a stairwell and the floor.

Yelp
Hip little venue/art studio/concert hall in Hinge town. We saw a concert here. Hip vibes in an art filled colorful space. Interesting lighting highlights the art and adds ambience for concerts. The acoustics were a little lackluster but not so much that it ruined the concert. The group was an acoustic jazz ensemble. Very intimate and personal setting for a concert. Small bar set up in the next room/gallery had wine, beer and spirits. Acrylic chairs and a few high top tables in back with better chairs. Small parking lot out front. Scan and Pay. Street parking and a nearby garage. Several local bars for after party.

Yelp
Highly recommend visiting this cute little gallery in Hingetown Cleveland. There were two exhibits (one pictured) by Japanese artist Tabaimo. The exhibit pictured is a half pipe and there is a bit of step up from ground level. Once you're in the exhibit, you're immersed in a visually stunning show using illustrations by Tabaimo. I believe her works are being displayed until early 2024. The best part? It's FREE! Go exploring in Cleveland and take in amazing art.

Yelp
If you're not checking out the Transformer Station, you should be. This Hingetown staple is a satellite gallery of The Cleveland Museum of Art and is free and open to the public. The paid parking lot is also free to CMA members, so just let them know at the desk you're a member and they'll give you a slip for your dashboard (otherwise, you need to pay to park or you WILL get a ticket). I've been here many times but recently stopped in to see the Laura Owens: Rerun exhibit, on display until May 30. This may be one of my favorite exhibits I've seen here. She's a more unconventional artist into mixed media, bright colors and the avant-garde. Her colorful style lights up the beautiful space with so much style and flair. The staff at the Transformer Station will be so excited to meet you, chat with you and tell you about the artist. You can spend about 30 minutes - 1 hour here depending on how deeply you like to immerse yourself in art. As for COVID: excellent experience. I came at an off-time and was the ONLY person there for this exhibit, which was a real treat. They are requiring masks, taking social distance seriously and require timed free tickets online via Eventbrite. Afterwards, you can picnic on the green space outside or walk around Hingetown. The Transformer Station is a well-thought out, underrated gem that everyone should patronize or at least experience once. GO, its FREE and brings so much local artist activation to the neighborhood!

Yelp
I've been here twice now and I think anyone in the Hingetown area should take 30 minutes and check out this little gallery! They get new exhibits quarterly I think. I went to "In Her Image: Photographs by Rania Matar (great relatable photos of girls/women) and to Raúl de Nieves: Fina (this one was human like sculptures made from beads). They have staff on hand to talk about the pieces with if you need more understanding or want to share your interpretations. Also, big plus here, IT'S FREE! The only downside is the parking. I mean, they have free parking, but it's taken over by rude selfish people who can't read the signs saying parking is only for visitors to Transformer Station. On my last visit I watched a guy get out of his big white work van and walk across the street to his job site, then I saw a woman park and walk over to Larder. This is frustrating because I am there for the art and these people are hindering that by taking up parking spaces that don't belong to them. I was told by staff that they are working on a solution - hopefully it involves towing and high fees. Anyways, just try and find some street parking, check out the art, then grab yourself some deli sandwiches at Larder or a beer at Saucy. Or you can even make your way over to Spaces for more art!

Yelp
I haven't been back since the gallery first opened, but I have to say my most recent experience was as good as my first. I think this is my favourite CLE gallery! The lady at the desk was very friendly and welcoming. She gave me a Kindle to use to guide me through the museum. I recommend you accept the kindle. It adds great value to the experience in terms of what the artist was thinking of and intending and as to how all the art relates to each other. For the one gallery there was even a video of the artist explaining the gallery. The lady at the desk told me to come and ask if I had any questions and genuinely seemed to care as to whether I would enjoy myself. This particular exhibit I felt was really something that resonated with me since I love to travel and since our city, Cleveland, is quickly developing. There were photographs taken observing people in their cars, in their high rise apartments, via Google Earth satellite, and to me most interestingly with other strangers on the street. There was also a multi-media instalment. I think it was my favourite as it dealt with a subject I often consider when I travel. I won't ruin the surprise, but it has to do with people taking public transit. The current exhibits are in place till 20 Sept (day of Sparx City Hop) - I recommend checking it out!

Yelp
I had the pleasure of coming here to check out the Dana Schultz exhibit and thoroughly enjoyed my experience as an art lover. The building is very simple so that the focus can rely more on the work they are showing. The staff was very friendly and the building is very well lit. I signed up for their email list so that I can check out more artists that come through the area. Will definitely go back!

Yelp
If a local coffee drinker heading to Rising Star hadn't told us about it, I would never have known what was inside of this building! Now let me preface this by saying I'm not artsy at all. I know little, if anything about art or photographs. Don't even try to talk to me about because I don't get it. But I'll look at pictures and stuff. This little gallery had a very interesting series featuring a photographer from San francisco, so I loved it actually. They give you a kindle to borrow and it narrates the photos for you so that you have an understanding of what you're looking at (perfect for a bozo like myself!). And it's free! Perfect little place to stop at after having a cup of joe from across the way. Btw, they have coffee lids in case you'd like to keep your coffee with you while you browse. So nice!

Yelp
Ah, another Cleveland arts treasure! You must come visit Transformer Station in the Hingetown neighborhood. It's a free gallery featuring exhibits from local and global artists. The exhibits change every few months so you'll always find something new. Due to COVID, you have to go on EventBrite and reserve a time slot to visit, no biggie.

Yelp
Verrrryyyy cool space. This gallery is in a strange little nook of Ohio City. Off the beaten path, but right off the highway. The Transformer Station was perfectly rehabbed to accommodate amazing artwork. The two rooms (the black frame room and the white frame room) have lofted ceilings, wonderful lighting and the actual works of art are, at least when I went, very provocative. I stopped by for "Excerpts from Silver Meadows" which was also during the CMA Ohio City Stages. I don't know what to say, but it was a great experience. Popping into the museum and then popping out for some wonderful Moroccan music, really made my night. I hope the Transformer Station continues to be a centerpiece for world music, world art and world culture. ps, check-in on foursquare and they often have prizes!

Yelp
transformer station, from the outside it just seems like a random building. the only reason we noticed this place is because it was across the street from Rising Star Coffee Roasters. I was gazing out at my surroundings and saw people coming in and out of the building. A customer passing through had mentioned it was a free photo gallery and we should go check it out. upon entering there is a reception desk where a lovely lady offered to give us coffee lids for our coffee from across the street. it fit our cups perfectly and I was delighted I was able to continue to enjoy my coffee while browsing the gallery. She also offered me a tablet to bring throughout the gallery and obtain more information on the pieces and why they were selected. you could also log into their wifi and use your own phone to access the website. i loved this option!! i really need the additional information the be able to fully appreciate and understand pieces and the tablet did just the trick. it was great for an amateur like myself to go through each piece and learn about the series and what the artist was trying ton convey. i love it when places whether it be museums, restaurants, or any business keeps up with the technological advances of these times.even more shocked with i find a place in the greater area of Cleveland that embraces technology. great little hidden spot to spend a little time
