Transkaroo Country Lodge

We were a group of 6 mature ( 3 couples)travelling on motorbikes.We are not fussy travellers but need a clean room, a good shower and a decent bed. We have stayed in many places over the years but this one really was the worst accommodation ever. Bedding was old and threadbare. Doorway to bathroom is extremely narrow. No mixers exist so one gets either boiling hot water or ice cold water in shower. Door handle came off as we opened the door. Shower tap came off as we turned tap on. Our lights in room didn't work. Owner accused us of tripping the electricity with our small portable fridge which we carry on our motorbike. We hadnt even plugged it in. When we arrived there was no electricity. Then the plugs worked but lights didn't work. Staff really tried their best but the owner should not be in the hospitality industry. Buffet meal was delicious home cooked but very expensive. R295 for a dinner plate of only vegetables was a bit over the top. The man looking after our motorbikes was kind, helpful and accommodating. We will not stay here again.

Had a cup of coffee. Although seated in the courtyard in plain sight of the waiter. She ignored me flat. Loved the wine shop and bistro. Without any service, I left. Pity.

Wow, friendly staff, clean room with all we needed, safe parking and what a fanatics buffet supper on a Sunday evening. Compliments to the chef, just like my grandma’s food. O yes and great coffee 😁

When you expect nothing in a forsaken little town somewhere in nowhere, you find this Quaint, neat GEM of a hotel. Beautiful decor, air cons, garden, courtyard etc. Quality linen and attractive room. BUT beware of the overpriced drinks. Ridiculous to say the least. You may braai using your own supplies, but have to dink from the bar menu.

Very clean, friendly staff, great food. The only thing the can of coke for R68 and glass of coke for R70, bottle of water R25 that is really day light robbery.

Would like to thank the most friendly and helpfull person I have met last Friday, 13/06/2025 - Ronald, he was the person on night shift and like an angel send my way. Thank you so much Ronald, will always remember your assistance at the Transkaroo Country Lodge in Britstown.

We popped in for an impromptu buffet lunch and were pleasantly surprised by how good the food was. Small town, big flavour for sure in this little plattelandse dorpie. The service was fantastic! Warm, attentive, and genuinely welcoming. Friendly vibe and tasty dishes. I’d definitely recommend it.

We had lunch only, a beautiful setting and good meal for 20 persons
