DON'T EAT HERE!!!!
Our experience at Transkaroo Country Lodge left us shocked, disappointed, and honestly hurt. What was meant to be a peaceful family meal turned into something frightening. While eating from the buffet, my dad bit into a piece of glass that was hidden in the food. It cut his tongue, and for a moment we were scared something worse could have happened.
We immediately showed the piece of glass to the buffet server, hoping for concern, an apology, or at least some action to protect other guests. Instead, she simply threw the glass away as if it meant nothing. We were stunned. We asked—politely, more than once—for the manager and begged them to remove the dish so nobody else would get hurt. But the dish was left there. People kept serving themselves from it, and we felt helpless watching it happen.
For nearly an hour we sat there, waiting for someone to come talk to us, explain something, or at least acknowledge what happened. When someone finally arrived, they told us it was “salt.” That was honestly insulting. The piece was big, sharp, and completely tasteless—nothing like salt at all. It was clearly glass, and pretending otherwise felt like they were trying to dismiss what happened to us.
What hurt the most was that the owner never came to our table. After waiting so long, my dad had to go find her himself. Even though there are cameras in the buffet area, nobody checked them, nobody apologised properly, and nobody took responsibility.
What happened wasn’t just a small mistake—it was dangerous. And the way it was handled made us feel ignored and disrespected. A place we trusted with our safety made us feel like our experience didn’t matter.
