Trattoria Antico Fattore

I came here specifically because I was told this place serves one of the best Florentine steaks. I clearly discussed this with my waiter and confirmed that I wanted the classic Florentine steak. Instead of focusing on my order, the waiter became oddly personal—asking where I’m from and whether I still live in Ukraine (yes, I do). Despite clearly agreeing on the steak, he brought me something completely different: well-done veal patties with mashed potatoes. Absolutely not what I ordered. I was already disappointed, but I decided to eat it anyway because I don’t like complaining and hoped it might at least taste good. Unfortunately, it didn’t. Both the meat and the purée were extremely oversalted and unpleasant. After paying, I finally told the waiter that this was not what I had ordered. His response? A joke—saying he didn’t bring me the steak because I’m “too skinny aka small” and the steak would have been too big for me. Unbelievable and disrespectful. Bad service, bad food, and an excuse disguised as a joke. Definitely not coming back.

The oldest restaurant in Firenze with distinctive deliciousness on offer! Antique photos, clocks, memorabilia decorate the walls. We had the polenta, salumi, manzo grigliata, coniglio, papardelle di cinghiale and tagliatelle di manzo. I’d re-order everything just to eat it all over again!

My partner and I had spotted this restaurant on a walk near our hotel and made a reservation for dinner tonight. The food was fantastic! We had grilled chicken and a grilled steak (not the Florentine Steak they are renowned for) but a very nice piece of beef. We shared the Roman Artichokes and I also had a glass of Proseccoo and an insalata mista. It was busy so we had to wait a bit, as did others, for the dessert menu but after a twenty minute wait to order dessert (in which two other tables were able to do so) our waiter did not some back. It was an incredibly mixed crowd - lots of folks from various parts of the world there to experience the Florentine steak - for which this 160+ year old establishment has made it’s reputation. We were the only older (60+) female couple. And we finally had to ask a different wait person for our check, having decided to forego spending any more of our money at an establishment that “lost sight” of us. By the time we were paying, our waiter finally arrived with a couple of biscotti (which were lovely) having perhaps realized how unimpressed we were. Sorry we did not get to try the Torta de Nonna and Limoncello. With service critical aspect of any restaurant experience, I find it difficult to recommend given our poor treatment.

Friendly staff, delicious food in an old tipical Italian trattoria. Price not so good but that's life.

great place and great food!! and also the service WAS TOP NOTCH!! all the staffs were very nice, especially maximiliano, he explained everything very well and recommend us the best seller foods,, love love their tiramisu as well

We stumbled upon this Trattoria when looking for some good steak, and it was referred to by us from a resto next door. The Florentine steak itself was very good, tender, well-cooked, and full of flavor. From a purely culinary standpoint, it delivered what you would expect from a classic steak eatery. That said, the pricing and service left a sour note. The steak is advertised at €60 per kilo, but the cut brought to the table was noticeably over that weight, with a significant portion made up of bone. This wasn’t clearly communicated in advance, which made the final bill much higher than expected. On top of that, there was an unexpected €3 “setting the table” fee per person, something we hadn’t encountered at any of the many other excellent restaurants we visited in Florence. I understand people like tradition, but it felt very outdated. The service felt old-fashioned and a bit judgmental, which detracted us from the overall experience. A bit more transparency and warmth would go a long way. Also the bread was stale.

My family came here in 2019 and LOVED everything about our dinner! Six years later, 4 of us were able to return and once again, everything was a delight! We hope to come back again one day!

Delicious Florentine steak and pasta. The spinach was so good. Loved the warm service.
