Dinner at Trattoria Taverniti felt like falling head over heels in Italy, without ever leaving Toronto’s College Street. The restaurant itself is charming and intimate, with that unmistakable trattoria soul: family-owned, warm, and buzzing with life. The Fichi was a love letter on a plate: sweet figs melting into tangy goat cheese, kissed by honey, with peppery arugula tying it all together. Every bite felt like a perfect little romance. Then came the Bauletti di Zucca, pasta parcels filled with pumpkin so velvety it was like autumn wrapped in a hug. We shared classics that felt timeless: the Bruschette Classica bursting with ripe tomatoes and basil, the Funghi Pizza Bianche bringing earthy depth on a delicate, crisp crust, and the Penne alla Vodka — silky, comforting, and impossible to stop twirling. The Spaghetti alle Vongole carried the ocean’s whisper, while the Quattro Formaggi Calzoni oozed with molten cheese, rich and indulgent. Every dish felt like it had a story — rooted in tradition, crafted with care, and made to be shared. FOOD: I ordered the Funghi pizza. It's taste good and full of cheese but slightly too burnt in the bottom. The price is super affordable. SERVICE: we was not hungry so we only ordered 1 pizza. However the waitress was all happy and chill. She still taken good care of our table although it's a very busy day. VIBE: it's a small place with some space in the patio. Very tradditional Italian decor and it feels very cozy. It's really crowed on the day we dine in.

came for dinner with a friend. I really liked the mussels we got for the appetizer. Pasta was not bad but mussels were definitely the highlight of the meal imo. We had patio seating which I think made service a bit slower but service was overall super friendly and helpful with choosing what to order

Absolutely loved our experience at Trattoria Taverniti! The food was amazing — everything was full of flavour, and the salad was so fresh and tasty. Our waitress, Franco, was incredibly kind and attentive. He made us feel very welcome. The vibe of the restaurant is just perfect — it truly feels like you’re in Italy, right in the heart of downtown. Highly recommend!

If you're looking for a typical red checkered tabled Italian restaurant, this is it. It gives you the atmosphere of an Italian restaurant that you'd see in the movies and TV shows. There are a few vegetarian options and a gorgeous wood burning pizza oven that you can admire.

The staff was amazing and the food was delicious. However giving four stars because we were located by the door and our spot wad busy with people constantly passing us. The location is great being downtown, had a fun walk after. The food is authentic.

Tried this Italian spot recently. The pizza was actually really good—crispy crust, nice flavor, and fresh toppings. The pasta had a decent sauce with good seasoning, but the overall dish could’ve been better—maybe it needed a bit more richness or texture. What really brought the experience down, though, was the service. The server didn’t seem very friendly or attentive, which made the atmosphere a bit uncomfortable. Decent food, but the customer service definitely needs improvement.

This place was amazing. From a person who has been to Italy, this food was amazing. Even though the restaurant was packed, the servers sat us down pretty quickly, and they were very nice. The place was clean, and small, not like those big restaurants you walk into where there are stains on the tablecloths. Clean, efficient and yummy, this place deserves 5/5 stars.
