We returned to Trattoria Toscana of Middletown to celebrate my birthday. Our evening was made special with an excellent recommendation and impeccable filleting of a salt baked whole bronzini. The table side presentation was amazing, the fish tasted incredibly fresh, moist and perfectly seasoned. A very impressive and unique dish to recommend. Our server Noa was fantastic—knowledgeable about the evening specials and very attentive, ensuring our glasses were never empty. We really enjoyed our experience there. Thank you.

One of the best Italian dining experiences in Monmouth County we have had!!! This is a high end experience and hands down the best. The environment is clean, warm, and inviting!!! Greeted promptly by several friendly host and staff upon arrival. The ambiance is cozy, and there was live entertainment. The entertainment was 1940s music. His voice was spectacular!!! Didn't want to leave so we could continue listening. The server was top notch. Noah explained how all food is made to order. There were no issues with our severe food allergies and dietary restrictions. Noah was bubbly and knows the restaurant's menu and food being served. She was kind, professional, funny, and thorough. She made us feel like we were VIP family. Now for the yummy part!!!! The food is delicious. Their menu provides ample options. The value for quantity and quality are equitable. They have daily specials. We were lucky to taste their halibut special, and it was phenomenal. Additionally, there is a large bar and it is stocked very well. We look forward to going back. We highly recommend dining here.

One star because cocktails were good (all through the olives were mushy). Came at 7:15pm on Saturday night for a 7:30pm reservation. Was seated promptly, but the place was busy. We got waters and ordered cocktails. Ordered one appetizer to share (2 people) and it came in a reasonable amount of time, along with 1 additional cocktail. This is where it drops. We each ordered a pasta dish, carbonara and their special, grilled shrimp with rigatoni pesto burrata and tomatoes. All relatively quick dishes. By the time we ordered our meals the restaurant was half empty. One hour goes by and still no meal. We flag the waiter and he says from another table that food will be out in a minute. Another twenty goes by and still no food… a busser comes by and asks if we are all set with the Parmesan cheese, which we reply that we still haven’t gotten our food. He says “oh no” and leaves. We waited a total of 2 hours from the time we got seated. Finally the waiter comes by and says a round is on the house, but we’re not interested. He says food will be out in a minute. ANOTHER 5- 10 MINUTES GOES BY. Still no food. Waiter is avoiding us at this point. He comes back and says food is on its way and that he was embarrassed and didn’t want the come back to the table?? We asked for the check but he insisted the food is coming. Each time we encountered someone we asked for the check. Eventually we got the food. My carbonara was super greasy and inedible. My friends rigatoni was undercooked, crunchy and did not have burrata but regular mozzarella. We left the food and went to pay at the host stand who began to ring us out, but a waiter saw and told us the dinner was comped. The restaurant was 80% empty at this point. Never have I experienced something like this.

We just went to this restaurant for the first time. And we are all (5 of us) Italian food snobs! The service and atmosphere were excellent. The pasta was done perfectly, sauces were excellent, not overly seasoned or salty, and the seafood and chicken were great quality (haven't had mussels like those in a long time!). They even had gluten-free pasta for a family member, and that pasta was done perfectly as well. The desserts were also perfect. The cannolis were homemade, the filling was perfect and also home made, and they must have been filled about 30 seconds before they were served. Absolutely fresh! They were friendly, accommodating, and the prices were very reasonable. We'll be going back — regularly!

Me and my wife dined in for the first time tonight and had an absolutely great experience. Food was amazing. The staff was very attentive and extremely friendly!! Would definitely recommend we will be back. We also saw a sign that they started Toscana after dark and we are now sitting by the bar, enjoying drinks and listening to the DJ will definitely be back.

My fiance and I had an AMAZING time at trattoria toscana!! This was our first time here and we will absolutely be back. Our server, Mustafa, was so kind. He shared his personal preferences and even offered us desserts on the house! The food was a m a z i n g. We had the grilled octopus special for our app, it was cooked perfectly. The entrees were outstanding: mushroom risotto and Orecchiette. Drinks were delicious, as were desserts! We can't wait to be back!!

Our waitress, Noah, was absolutely lovely, warm, attentive, and well versed in the best of the menu. We started with the artichoke with lemon and vongole oreganata, both perfectly prepared and full of flavor. I had the linguine frutti di mare, and they graciously substituted the fra diavolo sauce, spicy, rich, and delicious. My husband ordered the chicken scarpariello, and the meat was so moist and tender you'd swear it was all thighs. He joked, "Anyone who's experienced something spectacular with chicken gets that!" We finished with a perfect pairing: crème brûlée and tiramisu, followed by two glasses of Sambuca. The restaurant is beautifully decorated, the atmosphere warm yet elegant, and the staff genuinely impressive. Trattoria Toscano is one of those rare places where everything from service to flavor, just clicks.

Our first time tonight. Disappointing we heard so much from our New York friends that their NY restaurant was so good. Well not in NJ . I had the double cut pork chop. It was dry and had virtually no flavor. My wife had the sole. It came out cold, the bread crumb topping was mushy had no crisp at all. The appetizer mozzarella Carrosa was cold and flavorless. The eggplant was flavorful but cold also. The salad while fresh were drenched in the dressing to the point of swimming in it. Dampened the crispiness of the greens. The desserts were good . No complaints. We waited till now bc they've been here about a year and so we figured all the kinks we worked out. Nope!!! How anyone can say the food here was worth the fine cuisine expense must be disappointed. There are many other choices that are enormously better within just a few miles it's better to go there.. I'm so sorry this place didn't measure up. One indication is on a Thursday night there was literally 1 couple when we arrived who looked like the same couple when we left and 1 additional man eating at the bar, alone. We are very fond of Italian restaurants. This one did not measure up to even some of the pizzas places in the area with dining areas at a fraction of the cost...

We sat in the main dining room which is modern as well, with a personalized flower wall where guests can take photos! The restaurant also has 2 different private rooms for events. We can't wait to be back!!

What a gem, what a spot, don't pass this place. Went here for Sunday dinner and it was fabulous. The service was a solid A, very nice, very personable. We decided on the pre fixe menu and seriously what a deal! An appetizer, main meal and dessert, yes please. The minestrone was so good and the eggplant was delicious! For dinner we had the rigatoni with eggplant and the mushroom risotto and both were spectacular. The vodka martini was a great side dish as well. Glad we went out, what a yummy night.

I really wanted this place to be great sadly the key ingredient for greatness in a restaurant is the food. This place had too many failure for me to give a great review. The staff from the hostesses to the young lady bringing the beverage to the food runners to our excellent waiter were outstanding. The service staff has their game down. The dining area and overall inside appearance is wonderful. My only observation is they have it lit just a bit too dim. The table lights are yellow and this hides the true appearance of the plates. They start you off with a bread baskets that has a variety of items from bread sticks to a crispy Italian bread. You get some caponata that was excellent and great olive oil for your bread. We had two appetizers, I enjoyed the octopus but the sauce was lacking any flavor. We got arancini as well this was supposed to have mozzarella inside but nobody told the rice ball guy. In fact they were flavorless even the white sauce was bland. Folks, I am quite generous with my reviews but I am telling you my experience was a disappointment based on the food delivered to our table. READ ON. My buddy got a dish that was supposed to be a pistachio pesto with buratta and grilled shrimp over house made pene. He got a white cream sauce with no shrimp and no butatta. When the waiter came to check on him and was informed the dish was missing key ingredients he quickly brought a butatta in a bowl and in a panic cut it in half and dished it into my buddies plate. The shrimp came out 3 minutes later and to add insult to injury the shrimp were raw inside. I got veal parm with linguini. The veal was paper thin and tough plus the presentation was uninspired. Two slices of sandwich cheese on top of the shoe leather breadcrumb thing just looked like a child made it. The linguini was badly undercooked, not al dente 3 to 5 minutes too soon! C'mon if an Italian restaurant cant cook spaghetti they should be selling tacos instead! On the plus side my girlfriend ate her entire serving of lobster ravioli with shrimp in vodka sauce. I tasted it and didn't hate it but these lobster ravioli are not as good as the fresh pasta lobster ravioli you can get At Deerborn or Shop Rite. As I said earlier, I wanted this place to be good, sadly the kitchen is their weak link. I paid the bill, left a 20% tip and split. Too many great Italian restaurant in the area to give these guys another try.

This place is a must! We passed it a few times and finally we stopped in. Now we have been there 3 times in one week. The food is amazing. The service is exceptional! A great place for the family or date night. I will definitely have our next party here! Reasonable prices and now I saw they offer brunch! This place is our new favorite and I highly recommend it!

Went for Brunch on a Sunday we were the only family there took over an hour to get our meals my husband ordered steak and eggs medium rare with over easy eggs both very well done. Waited another 45mins for check again we were the only ones there. They offered a slice of cheesecake for over cooked meal. Food was ok don't think we will be back. Waiter was nice and ambiance was pretty but that's the nicest thing I can say about the place.

My first time dinning at this restaurant, food and service was outstanding, our server Carlos was very attentive, try it, I'm definitely going back.

Our food was amazing and the service is impeccable. The decor is "old-school." My full-blooded Italian husband love it and called it "his favorite Italian restaurant." Truly professional. We will be back for sure!

Absolutely phenomenal experience from start to finish! The food was delicious--each dish bursting with authentic Italian flavor and cooked to perfection. But the real standout? Monica behind the bar. Outrageous in the best possible way. Five-star service, incredible energy, and next-level drink-making skills. Every cocktail she served was a masterpiece. And don't even get me started on the desserts--unreal. Just when we thought the meal couldn't get any better, the dessert menu blew us away. Incredible food, spectacular drinks, and world-class service. This place is a gem. We'll definitely be back--and we'll be sitting at Monica's bar!

Enjoyed a delicious Sunday brunch a week ago at Trattoria Toscana in Middletown. My friend lives further down the shore and I'm from Northern New Jersey so it was a perfect halfway point. We were disappointed to see so many empty tables not filled by locals to enjoy this amazing brunch in this beautiful location. We enjoyed craft cocktails, Eggs Benedict and strawberry Grand Marnier crêpes. The prices were very reasonable. Will definitely go back

Came here with my mom for lunch. The portions are for children, with the price they charge. They also do not list their specials anywhere. When you pay with a credit card you find out there is a credit card charge after the fact. We will not be returning.

For "fine Italian dining," you would expect near perfection, especially at these prices, but not here. The hostess addressed us as "you guys" and "honey," but Antonio, our waiter was professional and on point. Their marinara looks like tomato soup and literally tasteless. I do not recommend ordering any red sauce here. My pasta was under cooked and not even close to al dente. I was charged $4 more for substituting my potato and vegetable with this small bowl of pasta as well. The chicken francese and veal marsala were on par, but the cheese cake was tasteless. Plus, it wasn't even ricotta-based.

Every aspect of the dining experience. People were amazing & food was excellent. Adult beverage choices were amazing.

We were very excited to try this new restaurant. We heard mixed reviews, but we always go to new places with an open mind. The ambience was nice and we were greeted warmly. I try not to give low ratings to new restaurants but I left feeling so uneasy, I wanted to share my experience. We were 2 adults and 2 kids (ages 9 &6). The waiter came and let us know that they did not have any children's menus, but they did offer a few things such as chicken fingers, penne, vodka, etc. After we looked through the menu when the waiter returned, I asked if he could do spaghetti and meatballs for my son, and he said he was unsure but offered a Bolognese as an alternative, to which we agreed. My other son ordered the penne vodka that he mentioned when he initially told us about the kids meals. When we got the check, we realized that both of our children were charged for full adult entrées, around $25 each. When I asked the server about the pricing he said, "Well they ordered full entrees." I reminded him that he offered us penne vodka as an option, and that I asked for spaghetti and meatballs for my child, and he offered the Bolognese as an option. He never told us that those were both going to be adult meals. His response was something along the lines of "Well they wrapped it up to take home, they can eat the rest later." When he returned with our credit card and could see I was visibly annoyed he apologized for the miscommunication. It was concerning that he didn't work to make the situation better. The food was decent, but definitely did not compare to other local Italian places in a similar price range. This restaurant has some work to do, for sure.

Went for dinner for 2 on Saturday evening. The food, drinks and staff were beyond outstanding. I am 100% italian, and, very particular about italian food . Needless to say, I was NOT disappointed. Our waiter, Antonio, cannot have been more helpful, knowledgeable, or accommodating. We actually met one of the owners, as well. If you want an exceptional, delicious, authentic italian meal, I highly recommend. We are definitely going back.

Let me start off by saying that coming straight from Brooklyn, we are very skeptical with eating Italian food out in NJ, but I have to say our meal time and time again has exceeded our expectations. The service was top notch and we have had the pleasure of Melissa serve us upon request every time providing outstanding service. To add, it's also one of our spots we visit often due to the live entertainment they provide, highly recommend!

This used to be a Chinese restaurant and it was very obvious upon walking in that it still had the same feel. Even so, I do not criticize it heavily for that fact. We had a reservation and got sat immediately. They only had one waiter working for the WHOLE RESTAURANT. You heard that right, ONE. We got our order for our appetizers in and were left waiting forever. There were not many people in the restaurant either. The dishes looked nice and appetizers tasted good. When our entrees eventually made their way out of the kitchen, we were disappointed with average food at an expensive price. I had five minuscule raviolis on my plate and that was my whole "meal" at $20+. Overall, very disappointed due to expensive food with average taste. Never coming back. I don't usually hate restaurants but I HATE this one. Save your money and go somewhere else!

The food and drinks were delicious, the staff was so nice..no complaints. They had music as well, Old School Vibe.

Extremely polite and professional staff, excellent food served in generous portions, great live music, reasonable prices. I highly recommend giving this place a try. I'm glad I did and I will definitely be returning.

Me and my husband love coming here! From the atmosphere to the service is incredible. You can tell the food is completely homemade even to the deserts! I would HIGHLY recommend! I can't wait to try their brunch starting end of the month on Saturdays & Sundays!

Filet mignon was the best I've ever had. Lobster ravioli is amazing. Service great as it has been the 4 times I've been there!

Everything was delicious and made fresh. The minestrone soup was the best I've ever had. The staff were friendly and very efficient.

The food was good, not great. The prices were outrageous, apparently carried over from thier original place on the other side of the Arthur Kill. Some customers seemed to be aware of them because of the other location. There was only one server for entire restaurant. Although the food was good, he had too many tables resulting in slow service. Suggest you stay away- I will. Your hard earned dollars are better spent elsewhere.

First time visiting this new restaurant. Getting the kinks out is always tough with a new place. Food was decent, but the sauces needed help. My appetizer of mussels in red sauce was just ok, as it was basically broth with a few halved roasted grape tomatoes. Not impressive. My husband liked his stuffed mushrooms. The sea bass special was cooked perfectly, but the sauce it sat on, along with cooked fennel, was weirdly thick, like they were too heavy on cornstarch. And the $54 price for it when we got the bill was $10-15 above anything else on the menu. I eat sea bass all the time, and no reason for that price. On the positive side, our server Antonio, was very attentive and friendly. Overall we left full and happy. Watched a couple dressed in sloppy clothes sit down at the next table, order and eat an appetizer, then walk out without paying a dime within 1/2 hour at best from when they sat down complaining that they hadn't gotten their entree yet. Seriously? The waiter and the restaurant did not deserve that. I will try it again
