Perfectly placed on the town square and within touching distance of the old town hall and the tourist office, I had a super stay at Gothisches Haus. Outside it is like a quaint medieval house but inside all is modern with all the conveniences and services you expect in German hotel of this rating. The rooms were large and comfortable, with nice bathrooms, and the public areas are spacious and comfortable. Staff are friendly and helpful - none speak English, as you would expect, so brush up on your German before your trip. They provided a phone charger for me when mine died on the first day of my visit, which was a life saver. The WiFi is good here too. Breakfast is excellent with all the usual German foods available in large fresh quantities, and served in an airy modern dining room. It's an easy walk from the station and Brockenbahn, as well as to the castle and all the lovely restaurants and coffee shops around the city centre. Out of all the hotels I have stayed at in Wernigerode, this is the best one. Recommended.

The perfect location in central Wernigerode for your stay. An easy walk to the castle, the steam Brockenbahn and the main railway station from here, as well as all the local cafes and restaurants. The staff are friendly and helpful, although little to no English is spoken here, so brush up on your German before travelling. Breakfast is plentiful and first class, the rooms are comfortable with nice bathrooms and there is a fridge in each room. WiFi is excellent. I'll be staying here again on my next trip to Wernigerode.

A good experience it was. The hotel offers parking and is centrally located. The room we had was a long way from the elevators but it was hardly any noise. The room had carpet. We would have preferred a wooden floor because of allergies. The room was spacious en well equipped. Breakfast was great with all possible choices of food. Dinner was also good. We loved the location and the style of the hotel and the great brakfast. The spa was super. Hot sauna and nice whirlpool and steambath.

We stayed 5 nights in the Hotel Gothisches Haus and found the location to be perfect. Facing onto the main square, the hotel is a group of old fronted buildings tastefully married together by new build technology (literally where old meets new).||On arrival we parked in the multi-storey adjacent to the hotel; there were plenty of spaces and the car park is monitored by CCTV, simply take your ticket and swap it at reception for one that lets you come and go during your stay. There’s a small drop-off area near the hotel entrance if you need to unload luggage first (airport-style trolleys can be found inside the small foyer). ||We received a warm, friendly welcome with the gift of a fresh red rose, which we thought was a nice touch, plus you’ll find the rooms have a complimentary minibar comprising water, nuts, and various soft drinks which was also an unexpected bonus.||We had a first floor ‘Comfort Twin’ room, which was a good size, as was the bathroom. The shower was an overhead stand in the bath arrangement, which was OK although we found getting in and out could be quite slippy. The room was very quiet and the beds extremely comfortable, in fact it was so peaceful we slept all the way through on most nights.||Breakfast choice was excellent and catered for all tastes with items being regularly replenished, so if you turned up towards the end of breakfast you wouldn’t go without.||Housekeeping was first-rate and the staff were extremely polite and friendly, if your German is a little rusty or limited (like mine) don’t worry as some of the reception staff speak very good English and are very helpful.||In summary we had a lovely stay and would certainly return should we visit Wernigerode again.

A wonderful hotel in the central market square. It is 4* and everything reflects that. Huge room for a single person with everything that you would expect. Great breakfast buffet with well cooked items and staff replenishing the cold food when needed.

Very central location on the Market Square. The breakfast was excellent with a large selection. Nice room, bigger than expected in Wernigerode. Clean bathroom with a bathtub. Minibar with free water and soft drinks.||The staff were friendly, welcoming and helpful - by German standards, (but probably not by American standards, which Germans might consider excessive), and the younger ones spoke excellent English, if your German language skills leave something to be desired. The bar is furnished with comfortable sofas, and the friendly and service-minded bartender makes excellent drinks. We thought that the bar had a bit of an old school Overlook Hotel vibe to it. :-)||There is parking with surveillance right next to the hotel for 16 Euro a night. There are cheaper parking options (also free) in Wernigerode, but the location is convenient.||We could have wished for a minibar that was more than lukewarm (but you can always cool off the bottles in the cold water in the sink) and also a more efficient air conditioning. We ended up sleeping with the windows open, which would have been fine if it weren't for the church bells chiming every half hour. The windows were otherwise surprisingly sound proof, so it was a shame that the air conditioner was not very efficient, since the room was quiet when the windows were closed. ||If we ever find ourselves in Wernigerode again, we would not hesitate to stay there again - but probably not in the height of summer.

After a gap of 6 years we weren't sure that the hotel would be as lovely as we remembered...but it was. Comfort and quality are a priority everywhere, and rooms are well equipped; ours was at the back overlooking the garden, and was calm as a result. Breakfast and evening meals are generous and delicious, and the restaurant and bar staff always smiling and willing to go the extra mile. The location right in the centre of town is excellent, and there are suggestions in the daily bulletin for walks and places to visit during your stay; the nearest steam railway station is just 10 minutes' walk away, the castle a more challenging climb (or a cheat's ride)...if you can drag yourselves away from the main square and the hotel, that is.

Absolutely perfect place to spend a few nights in Wernigerode. It’s perfectly located right off the main square. Staff is lovely. Breakfast was varied and generously lasted from 6:30 to 11:00. There are a few tables with windows looking into the market square - perfect for people watching. My room was very comfortable. Great views. Very comfortable bed. The gem of this hotel is its sauna complex. Absolutely fantastic! Three saunas (medium heat, “Finnish” (super hot, with a cool tropical bird sound system), and an awesome steam sauna. A very relaxing area to just chill out after a sauna. It was like an oasis that I didn’t want to leave. There were additional rooms for more relaxation, but I didn’t explore them. The saunas were the highlight of a very wet, cold visit. I would definitely recommend this hotel.
