We stayed 5 nights in the Hotel Gothisches Haus and found the location to be perfect. Facing onto the main square, the hotel is a group of old fronted buildings tastefully married together by new build technology (literally where old meets new).||On arrival we parked in the multi-storey adjacent to the hotel; there were plenty of spaces and the car park is monitored by CCTV, simply take your ticket and swap it at reception for one that lets you come and go during your stay. There’s a small drop-off area near the hotel entrance if you need to unload luggage first (airport-style trolleys can be found inside the small foyer). ||We received a warm, friendly welcome with the gift of a fresh red rose, which we thought was a nice touch, plus you’ll find the rooms have a complimentary minibar comprising water, nuts, and various soft drinks which was also an unexpected bonus.||We had a first floor ‘Comfort Twin’ room, which was a good size, as was the bathroom. The shower was an overhead stand in the bath arrangement, which was OK although we found getting in and out could be quite slippy. The room was very quiet and the beds extremely comfortable, in fact it was so peaceful we slept all the way through on most nights.||Breakfast choice was excellent and catered for all tastes with items being regularly replenished, so if you turned up towards the end of breakfast you wouldn’t go without.||Housekeeping was first-rate and the staff were extremely polite and friendly, if your German is a little rusty or limited (like mine) don’t worry as some of the reception staff speak very good English and are very helpful.||In summary we had a lovely stay and would certainly return should we visit Wernigerode again.
