We had an amazing experience at Travellers! This time in Negril, we came back with 10 of my family members. Generally speaking, we all love Negril, and a few of us visit yearly or even multiple times a year. It’s unlike any other place we’ve traveled to.
I want to start by saying that the managers and owners at Travellers are truly wonderful, caring individuals. I really liked the location of the resort this time in Negril—being the last one on the strip made it much quieter, with fewer people walking along the beach. These are the kinds of things you can’t judge a resort for because it simply is where it is. Since it’s not close to other noisy areas, the nights were peaceful, which I loved.
The beach is impeccable—the water is immaculate, so clean, and absolutely lovely. We loved the beach, and the staff working there, including security and those handling the chairs, were probably my favorite part of the resort. They were always attentive and helpful, and if anyone approached us selling something, they were always watching. I felt completely safe on the beach.
The food was amazing. I’ve been to Negril before, and I will say that the restaurant at this hotel is one of the best, hands down. Breakfast was standard, but the coffee was refillable and absolutely delicious—Jamaican coffee is incredible. For lunch, you can order just about anything. This time, we tried more “American-style” food, like hamburgers, quesadillas, and fries, and we loved it. For dinner, we kept coming back to the restaurant and had dishes like pasta (which was some of the best fettuccine most of us have ever had), jerk chicken (amazing!), lobster, and many other things. Dinner prices averaged around $20 CAD per meal, which I’d say is pretty standard. I know people say Jamaica isn’t cheap anymore, but honestly, neither are most cities we live in now. The prices here are comparable to what we’d pay back home, except everything is fresher, and the meat is cleaner, without pesticides or preservatives. You can always find cheaper options, like eating patties on the beach. Either way, we loved the food!
There were a few small mix-ups during our stay, including one that happened to me personally, but the staff handled it extremely well. I felt taken care of, and the managers at both the front desk and the restaurant truly cared. Mistakes happen everywhere, so I would never hold this against the hotel.
As for the rooms, they were fine. Our balcony didn’t have a stunning view, but that didn’t bother me since we don’t spend much time in the room. Some of my family members mentioned that their floors weren’t washed or that their shower pressure was weak, but personally, that didn’t bother me at all, so I can’t speak on it. A room doesn’t make or break my trip, and in some countries, you can’t expect perfection unless you’re paying top dollar for a premium room. We got what we paid for, and I was happy with it. Our room was clean, housekeeping came regularly, the AC worked well, and our coffee was always refilled—so overall, I was satisfied.
The staff was overall friendly and sweet. We had almost zero complaints, except for the small mix-up with my card. The only thing I would note is that some of the restaurant staff weren’t as attentive as they could have been. However, I recognize that the laid-back service is part of the culture, so I wouldn’t necessarily call it a complaint—just an observation. That said, I’d definitely say the staff here was much, much nicer than at other hotels we’ve stayed at on the beach. Also, the gym was clean and well-maintained. We used it a few times and loved it.
Overall, I felt that Travellers was a beautiful resort. It’s definitely one of the best on the beach in terms of hotel quality, food, and service. We’d stay here again anytime! Thank you for an amazing stay—we love Negril!
