Our family greatly enjoyed a 5-course dinner prepared by Karen on our last night in Costa Rica. Each course was a culinary treat with phenomenal flavor combinations. The fresh-caught sea bass was amazing. She thoughtfully prepared a separate meal for our 11-year old with all her favorite foods. Jack and Karen are outstanding hosts with great knowledge of the area and its history. Jack graciously helped us find someone to fix our flat tire on a Sunday, going above and beyond to ensure we enjoyed our time in Costa Rica. The private dinner in the treetops overlooking the beach and Pacific sunset was a perfect capstone to our vacation. Thank you, Karen and Jack!

Jack and Karen were wonderful hosts for our very special birthday dinner!! The location is stunning - you are suspended on a wooden deck in the middle of the jungle, with ocean views and a gorgeous sunset! The service is impecable, Jack is such a welcoming host and accommodated all of our needs. And Karen is a magnificent chef, honestly, the best meal in Costa Rica! Every course was so rich in flavor and personally crafted to perfection!! It was our second time here and I can’t recommend it enough! (Make sure you make a reservation ahead of time.)

Another 5 star review for Treetops! If you are reading this...stop researching places to stay and just book it ASAP before your dates are gone. We stayed for two nights in the main building and spent a lot of peaceful time on the sundeck drinking coffee and looking out at the ocean, and of course taking videos of all the great wildlife you can see being nestled into the trees. You won't regret Karen's 5 course gourmet meal with all-local Costa Rican ingredients (I will be dreaming about the red snapper curry main course for a while)! and the breakfasts are equally as lovely with plenty of food to fuel your day of adventure. DO NOT miss the mango margaritas!||Jack offered to book us a horseback riding tour of the beach and jungle from a local guide, and that was such a fun experience. Jack also connected us with a lovely fisherman who took us out on his boat to view the hundreds of sea turtles making their way to Ostional beach. We also encountered a huge pod of dolphins during the trip and they swam alongside our boat for quite a bit which made the day even more special. We were able to walk to town (~5 minute walk, or more like ~15 if you are walking in the dark looking at all the cool bugs and wildlife along the road on your way) and enjoy a wonderful steak dinner at El Jardin. ||Basically whatever Jack and Karen recommended we do...We did it with zero regrets! Such a beautiful stay with wonderful people. Thanks, Jack and Karen! We hope to return some day.

Unique experience dining among the branches of the tree canopy overlooking the ocean. If you are planning a trip near San Juanillo make sure to contact Tree Tops at least a few days ahead of time and plan for a lovely meal. Karen is a wonderful chef and Jack is an excellent host. They made us feel so welcome and the atmosphere for a sunset dinner is unforgettable!

This was a wonderful experience. The two owners were a pleasure to meet and talk with. We opted to do the 5 course dinner and no regrets one of if it the best meal experience I have ever had. Not one thing about the food needed to be added or taken away as it was prepared and tasted perfection. The beach is nice white sand and we had fun snorkeling. Plenty of trees for shade. I real tropical paradise. I hope to return on our next trip. Thanks Jack and Karen for a wonderful experience!!

Absolutely spectacular location with amazing vista. Elevated location right on the beach. The deck is literally above and within the tree tops.||Jack and Karen, your hosts, are exceptionally pleasant, helpful, and knowledgeable. It was a joy just to spend time with each of them.||In addition, Karen is a truly gifted chef. She prepared some of best food I have ever had anywhere. Do not miss the opportunity to have Karen prepare dinner for you.||Treetops is a one of a kind location. Highly recommend!

Stayed 2 nights. A wonderful experience. Karen & Jack have built their own eco-home and share it with guests. We stayed in the main building which has the upstairs veranda in the tree tops overlooking the ocean on one side and jungle on the other. Beautiful views and so peaceful. Wonderful to just sit and look. It is rustic and built 30 years ago, our bedroom had a screen rather than windows so you can hear the ocean and nature. No tv (a blessing!) fridge, air-con but you don’t want or need it. Internet connection was great. Breakfasts wonderful and we experienced our own private chef dining experience -5 courses of local fresh food with explanations of each course. We loved it. The special thing is talking with Karen and Jack and hearing their stories and how tree tops came about, we felt lucky to have experienced how they have turned their dream into reality - an inspirational couple.
