"Paul Bunyan in the Trees of Mystery Yes, there's a hint of the American-road-trip cheese factor, but for a family on the stretch of road from Northern California to Oregon on Highway 101, this stop would be a home run. It's 36 miles south of the Oregon border, amid the miles of coastal redwood forests; Paul and Babe appear just at the right time for a restroom break and a chance to stretch your legs on some of the interpretive trails. Fightyour skepticism and give it a chance. The park has been owned by the same family for the last 67 years and their genuine intent is to protect these magnificent trees and educate their visitors (with huge helpings of humor in the process). There is a good selection of trails, walks, and experiences to choose from while you're there. If all you're looking for is a quick photo op with Paul and Babe and a free public bathroom, then this is your spot as well. Have those cameras ready: Paul is just over 49 feet tall and his ox Babe is 35 feet."

Definitely a must visit kind of place. Didn't hike much in the area so unsure how it compares considering the cost, but we found the experience to be totally worth it for our family of 4. Gondola ride, suspension bridges, amazing trees and tidbits to learn while here... A mix between museum and a fun hike (esp if you include the wilderness trail in this, which we did. Thankful for the ropes.)

We have visited the Trees of Mystery in the past and love it for the wondrous path through the redwoods. This time, we didn't have time for the trees themselves, but visited the gift shop and museum. The gift shop is about the biggest I have seen, with multiple rooms full of every type of souvenir, for kids or adults, that you can imagine! (Even floaty pens and sterling silver charms, which both seem just about impossible to find in souvenir shops these days.) You can even get redwood seedlings and seeds to grow. And they have fudge! The museum highlights artifacts from many different Native American tribes, and is organized by geographic area, from very local to those in other states. The museum collection is quite large, and very well presented. Trees of Mystery is definitely worth stopping for.

Trees of Mystery is a fantastic stop! The gondola ride offers stunning views of the redwood canopy, and the trails are a great way to explore these majestic trees up close. The Paul Bunyan and Babe statues are a fun photo op, and the Native American museum adds a nice cultural touch. Definitely worth a visit!

I had an awesome time. I showed up when they first opened. It was a great hike along the marked trail. Lots of interesting info and beautiful views. The Canopy Trail up through the trees was lots of fun. I enjoyed the Gondola ride and came back down on the very steep and rugged Wilderness Trail. Overall, a great place for all ages.

Amazing place to stop! Something for all ages! You pay once price at the entrance, and have access to everything....gondola andvcanopy tree walk are included. Walk among the canopy of giant redwoods is a must! Nice gift shop at the end. I would allow 1.5 to 2 hours in your schedule for this attraction.

This is redwood wonderland! Once you step into the trails, you feel like a tiny explorer in a fairytale forest surrounded by towering giants. Walking across the suspension bridge with the redwoods stretching endlessly around is unforgettable. It adds the right amount of adventure to the peaceful beauty of the trails. The uniquely named trees make the visit even more special. Each tree has its own story, making the journey through the forest feel like meeting a cast of towering characters. The Candelabra tree is a remarkable specimen, with an incredible will to survive. The Cathedral tree , a group of nine trees growing together (the site of Easter services and weddings) feels almost sacred. The SkyTrail gondola ride is an absolute must. The gift shop is packed with unique souvenirs, and locally made crafts. Exploring this place is like going on a scavenger hunt, where each stop is awe-inspiring! I regret forgetting to buy a seedling, maybe I will get one from their online store.

Google
It was a must visit place They have maintained and created so many things that you can spend 3-4 hours easily here. Kids will love it. Adults will enjoy Do try the trail from top of Gondola. It's bit tricky because of slope but it's fun

The trail from the trail down from the lift was quite a hike back. I do not recommend for people who are not advid hikers. I am rather in shape and it was quite a undertaking make sure your shoes or boots have good traction. Over all this was so beautiful and a great day time date for my husband and I. The trees are amazing and there were not a lot of people.

Yelp
I planned a 7 day trip to California to visit the Redwood National Forest. Before leaving, my wife looked up things to do in Crescent City California as an add on to our vacation and found the ad for Trees of Mystery. Wanting to make it a full day excursion, we decided to visit there on our 6th and final day before heading back home to Washington. It turned out to be the most memorable highlight of our vacation. If you're ever in Northern California and visiting Crescent City, more than likely to visit the Redwoods and the absolute stunning and magnificent beauty of the coast, I would HIGHLY recommend visiting the Mystery of Trees. It definitely fits the description that "You really have to be there to experience it" because words just can't do it. From the huge Paul Bunyan and his huge blue ox babe welcoming you with a big wave and verbal hello to the amazing trees, canopy bridge walk, sky tram ride and so much more, you can easily, as we did, spend an entire day there. The history itself is absolutely amazing. How it all began from the beginning and the transitions it went through over the years is nothing short of mind blowing. So much love and attention to detail went into making it one of the most enjoyable places ever to visit. Then to finish the incredible day, you can spend at least 2 hours going through their store and the worlds largest collection of private Native American Museum. If ever in the area, I'd HIGHLY recommend adding to your to do list. It was an incredibly memorable day and one of the best places I've visited in my life. Unfortunately I used my Nikon for all the photos so have none to add. But if I can edit it later after transferring the photos to my cell phone, I definitely will.

Yelp
We went here a few weeks ago as first timers. Customer service was lousy, gondola so-so and the walk on the trail was cool. We walked inside to the front office to inquire about purchasing tickets to enter and go on the Skytrail Gondola. There was a woman behind the front counter about 30 years old who was sitting back aways the counter aways eating a sandwich. I made eye contact with her and she says, "Yeeah?" with a look on her face and an attitude like I'm bothering her. (How dare I disturb her lunch?). Anyway, she directs me to the ticket booth outside. So we go there and the kid working the booth about twenty years old sells us two tickets. He looked miserable too. No eye contact, no hello, no nothing. Guess he hated his job. I didn't mention anything to my girlfriend but she just happened to tell me that she didn't like his attitude. So not my imagination that these two suck at customer service and probably hate their jobs. We walked the trail which was pretty cool and made up for the crappy service. The Skytrail Gondola was a disappointment though. It takes you way up to the top. You feel like you're climbing forever. Then you exit onto the platform and walk out to the vista point for a view. The problem is you can't see squat. All the trees have grown way higher than the vista point. There's a couple of open areas where you get a partial view but if you expect to have a magnificent view above the treetops you will be disappointed. Overall my experience here was just okay. Hey I did it, checked off the bucket list and would never go again.

Yelp
I recently visited Trees of Mystery and was disappointed by the outdated, insensitive portrayal of Native cultures. The displays inside the park and inside the store use terms like "Indian" instead of "Native American" or "Indigenous," which feels disrespectful. While I appreciate the intent to educate, the exhibits fail to address the full history--like land theft and forced assimilation--that affected these communities. I hope Trees of Mystery can update their displays, nor force any religion ( Quote in regards to God in the bench area instead the trail) to honor Indigenous heritage more accurately, perhaps by involving Native voices and the tribes that resides/ resided on this land. Doing so would create a more respectful and meaningful experience.

Yelp
We are theme park people so when hubs discovered a theme park in the trees he signed us up! Plus, unlike Disneyland, this theme park welcomed dogs!! My dog, Hannah was so excited!!! What was absolutely cool about this place was we got to go play in the trees! Instead of looking up we got to go up! And we got to get in a lift to be amongst the tree tops! Hannah wasn't sure about being lifted into the sky but neither was my teenager! This was a really well done park and we all highly suggest it if you come this way! I ran into my old Michigan friends Paul Bunyan and Babe! I didn't know they had come to California!

Yelp
Seven years ago we visited the trees of mystery and had a fabulous visit. We came back for a second visit last week with our teenagers particularly because they wanted to do the skywalk up in the trees and they had no memory of this place when they were little. Unfortunately, this visit was not as laid back as we recalled from last time. More people = less relaxing. First of all parking was nearly impossible when we arrived in the early afternoon on a Monday, July 8. We got one of about five remaining spots at the very end of the huge parking lot. Definitely if you have an RV and you're driving through arrive before opening and you might have a chance to get parking. I wouldn't chance it midday. The parking lot was an utter disaster and we almost had to leave because parking for cars was so scarce. The crowds were epic. There was a 30+ minute wait and a ginormous line to get on the sky trail tram ride. The walking paths were easy enough since it's a self guided tour and people disbursed through the park. The skywalk was just mildly busy. There was no line but many people were walking through it so you can't really really slow down and enjoy it. My prior review still stands for the details of this place. What wasn't there seven years ago was the skywalk. The highlight for my teenagers was the skywalk platforms and rope bridges. It's kind of like a ropes course without having to be harnessed in because everything has safety barriers. I don't recommend young children up there and they have specific rules that you can't carry kids up there. It is super high up and anybody who has a fear of heights should avoid it.. I do not have a fear of heights, but it was creepy to think how vulnerable you are up there. The paths were clearly marked to direct people in a single direction. Although the park was busy that day, the skywalk flowed really nicely with people being able to climb up the path to the platforms and walk across the bridges. It takes about 15 minutes to walk-through the skywalk bridges, at a steady pace. A few things to know - leashed dogs are allowed. You cannot bring dogs up in the skywalk. All the dogs that we encountered were friendly and kept to themselves. Unfortunately, we saw people who wanted to go up in the skywalk not be able to because they had dogs with them. There is a pretty big gift shop on site . They still do not have food offerings other than some snacks and an ice cream counter. The prices in the gift shop are the normal super outrageous gift shop prices. of course we couldn't pass up buying a stuffed banana slug for 25 bucks. There's a lot of cool things in the gift shop that you can buy elsewhere for better prices. I highly recommend that you come prepared with snacks and/or picnic lunch. Definitely have lots of water available too. There is a restaurant attached to a motel across the street. Other than that you will need to drive at least 30+ minutes to get to food options.

Yelp
Beautiful place to expend time with the family. Walking among Redwood trees is always a blast but having the opportunity to walk from one tree to the other on the canopy trail, it is an opportunity that you should take advantage of.

Yelp
Took my parents on a weekend getaway. General admission at the time was $30 and $25 for senior discounts. We went on a Saturday in the afternoon and wasn't crowded. We made our way to the lift to go to the highest point and worked downwards. It felt very peaceful with fresh air all around. Dogs are allowed so it was fun seeing everyone walking their dogs. Plenty of interesting things to look at. We took our time to do the hike and see everything else which took us about 4 hours in total.
google avatar

Yelp
Great place to stop off and explore. Took a trip up the coast and had to stop and it was definitely worth it. The $30 charge included everything, including the gondola ride up the mountain. The sky bridges were higher than it looked online but was a thrill to do. If you're driving by you should stop and check this place out.

Yelp
When my sister first mentioned stopping by here I was a little skeptical and thought it might be for kids. It was actually really cool, and definitely a pit stop for adults on a road trip. The drive to the park is beautiful, and the park itself is very well maintained. The trails to see the trees are easy to navigate and it's really fun to do the walkways in the trees. The ride to the top on the gondola is also fun, and there is an option to hike up there if you like that type of thing. It has a cute little gift shop and there are also snacks. This is the type of place where you could bring all ages and pretty much most levels of walking ability, highly recommend!

Yelp
I haven't actually gone inside with paid admission since childhood. However, my family recently stopped by the small museum at the back of the gift shop and were impressed with the exhibits. They display Native American items from tribes around the country. It's free to go in the small museum and worth a stop.

Yelp
Although it's not cheap, I feel like the tickets is a moderately reasonable price ($30 per person.) We had lots of fun & enjoy the well carved wooden sculptures. The sky gondola gives you a chance to see the redwood trees high up with the beautiful fog. I was truly in shocked when we reached the fog it was truly beautiful. The hike was kind of fun and very steep, we saw a bunch of millipedes and a banana slug. Wished there was more to it. Like a random big foot statue near the end. But that might be a bit difficult. The fun facts are nice, since we don't know much about redwoods. Honestly, you have to see Redwood trees in person in order to truly grasp how majestic they are. They let you bring dogs and it's a very easy park to get around with your dogs and your children. Saw tons of families. 4 stars because I believe it's a very solid and well established park with nice fun facts about redwood trees. Plus great for taking pictures! I think $30 is not a price for everyone but to us it was reasonable. Things in the gift shop also weren't too cheap so I can understand the tourist trap comment. I think going one time is good enough for me.

Yelp
If you love the outdoors, and you are looking for something to do with your family, this is the perfect spot. Not recommended for people who are unable to walk uphill, or if you are in a wheelchair. Surrounded by the beauty of the towering redwoods, I was absolutely impressed with this place. The trees are so tall, you look up and feel so small. You really don't have to do much for an outdoor location to make it great because it is already amazing. They just made it more fun! They do have a gift shop that you can go in before or after your hike. The gift shop has a huge variety of stuff to choose from too. Shirts, hats, sweatshirts, pocket knives, jewelry, wooden boxes, stuffed animals, huckleberry lemonade, and the list goes on! If you are in the area, you really should check this place out! They keep everything very clean. I didn't see any trash anywhere, which is great because we have to keep these forests clean. The staff were all very helpful and friendly. The hike had multiple stop points if you need to take a rest and sit down. Once you get to the top of your hike, you can either walk back down, or you can ride down in the gondola. Of course we chose the gondola! The wait in line was short, and the ride was fun! We got a great view of those beautiful trees. Just breathtaking. All in all, I would love to come back!

Yelp
Such a fun place! My husband and I have driven by here loads of times on road trips but have never stopped in. Finally we did and we were impressed! The way they show off the glorious trees is awesome, with fables and tall tales and some history sprinkled along the way. The tree canopies and the sky trail gondola is awesome! Make sure to stop in the big gift shop too, lots of Native American history to see!

Yelp
Beautiful stop off the 101. With a giant Paul Bunyan and his blue ox babe standing outside you can't miss the place. Lots of shaded walking and if you're not able to walk they have a shuttle that will take you to the top. The attractions are both educational and entertaining we learned a lot about redwoods and enjoyed the sky-trail and treetop adventures the most. The carvings and story of Paul are cute and fun. The fudge in the gift shop was great and souvenirs were priced reasonably. Great Family Fun Spot!
google avatar

Kelsey S.

Yelp
Very nice staff, great for kids and families , beautiful walk through the redwoods. Highly recommend'

Yelp
The giant Paul Bunyan out front is cool, but we came for one thing...their free collection of items from the first Americans. Behind the gift shop you can find the End of the Trail Collection and it is worth the stop. It is one of the largest privately owned world class Collections there is and it was extremely educational and well done. I also really like that the items for sale in the museum are separate from the gift shop and manufactured by descendants. Many of the items have certificates of authenticity and the jewelry gives the artists name on the back. The company executives could have stocked the museum gift shop full of imported mass manufactured items, but they didn't...and that means a lot after seeing how important various arts are to the early Americans! This is high quality stuff!!

Yelp
Trees of Mystery was one of our last stops near Klameth before we headed back towards home. Conveniently located right off 101, it is impossible to miss as you're driving through this neck of the woods. Right out front, there's a HUGE statue of Paul Bunyan and his ox Babe. The statue of Paul is slightly animatronic, and will actually wave and wink at you periodically as you approach. It is also voiced through a loud PA system broadcasted by someone most likely camping out in the office above the gift shop, who will greet you as you get near. Admission price is currently $25/adult, and $23 for seniors. There are quite a few trails to choose from, all fairly short in distance and easily walkable for all mobility levels. Signs are posted throughout, so it's pretty easy to identify what points of interest are. And the grounds themselves are fairly well kempt and clean. The best parts of this place are the Redwood Canopy Trails, which takes you up to the higher parts of the trees through a series of very safe and well-netted suspension bridges. As well as the gondola SkyTrail, which takes you hundreds of feet up into the air, with breathtaking 360 views. The whole experience will easily kill an hour of two of casual walking, and ends in their very large gift shop with an attached museum dedicated to Native Americans. Definitely a fun way to kill some time on a nice day.

Yelp
This was so much fun for everyone in the family! The canopy walkway is a must and the view from the top of the gondola is gorgeous.

Ed C.

Yelp
Wow. What a surprise for a freeway tourist attraction. As an avid hiker with plenty of time in redwood forests - frankly - I didn't expect much. I was pleasantly surprised. It was a very well maintained trail through a lush and well labeled forest. The sky tram and view was a bonus. The canopy trail was exhilarating. Roadside stops are usually followed by junk gift shops. This one was, however, amazing! Plenty of choices, reasonable prices, but the attached Native American museum was...well...lacking description; I was left speechless; artifacts from across the county and around the world. Much care seemed to be taken in categorizing and labeling. All in all - about a 3 hour stop. Could have been more.
google avatar

Travis T.

Yelp
Huge roadside nature attraction and gift shop off Highway 101 that has been around since the 40's. You can't miss it because there is a giant statue of Paul Bunyan and his companion Babe the Blue Ox out front. The gift shop is enormous and free to walk around. But to enter into the park requires admission. Inside are hiking trails, a gondola, chainsaw carvings, and a long aerial netted bridge that you can walk across. There are lots of tall redwoods that you can check out and learn about while here. Trees of Mystery is privately-owned. It is also pet friendly.
google avatar

Melanie N.

Yelp
Finally made it here! I've wanted to come her since I was a kid. This place is a great roadside attraction! We had a lot of fun walking around and doing the canopy walk, we did it twice! Such a pretty area.
google avatar

Jennifer Z.

Yelp
My favorite themed attraction!!!! Paul and his trusty side kick, Babe the blue ox welcome you and say cute things like.. take a picture with me. Gondola ride up with a beautiful view. If you do that trail going down 750' - have hiking boots & be prepared to not have a map - you will not get lost. There is a rope the you can hang on to in some spots on that trail but it's still dangerous if you are not prepared to hike!! In most areas it's a steep incline and down. We had boots and and we did some sliding BUT we loved it. It was my favorite thing to do here. We did the canopy trail that is 50-100' up in the air. Not as scary as it sounds. The steel cable and netting makes you feel more secure. The is a little windy staircase at the top but it's about 10 steps to get you to the next canopy trail going down. Cool trees that's on Rickey's Believe it or Not.. I will tell everyone this is a must to visit.
google avatar

Yelp
A place to take the family and discover nature. A place to find beauty and peace among the mighty Redwoods. It's a Family owned Park in the Klamath area and a well maintained park. Highly recommend it for young and old.
google avatar

Jakob Z.

Yelp
Such an amazing experience for a low price! Take your time, enjoy the education, the canopy's, the gondola, and the nature. It was so much fun. Worth it all the way. I just wish tourists would stop scratching their names or initials into the trees...
google avatar

Carlotta M.

Yelp
This is a super fun and interesting spot to learn more about the lush and vibrant Redwood forests! There's a gondola, suspension bridges, easy trails, informative signage, videos, museums and some extremely large trees as old as 2,000 years old. It's dog friendly and great for kids. The staff was friendly! Also, AMAZING woodworking art and carpentry. Definitely worth checking out if you're in the area!
google avatar

Rom H.

Yelp
Wonderful experience. Surrounded by very tall redwood trees, feel the magic of a forest from age 3000 yr old. Fun nature family experience to teach and learn about the history of the land, the trees, the people.
google avatar

Y R.

Yelp
I had misgivings about coming here instead of a state or national park. I ended up going to Jedediah Smith State Park and then coming here. I think this place is good if you go with the expectation that this is a private park which showcases the many unique trees on their property, including the 7th largest tree in the world (at least at time of visit). It's nice for the labels and educational signage and I'm sure great if you have kids. One of my favorite parts of the experience was actually the native American museum that had a really great collection of clothing, bowls, weapons, etc. from various tribes, which I wasn't expecting. If you want a more natural experience, then this is not for you. I would personally recommend Jedidiah Smith State Park in addition or instead.
google avatar

Jessica D.

Yelp
We stopped on a roadtrip (2 adults) and while it was a nice break to get out of the car and experience some of the redwoods, it felt a bit more in line with kids. It was a holiday weekend so parking was rough and the park was fairly full. Honestly though, they did a great job managing lines and getting people through given the situation. We both felt glad we did it, but wasn't something we'd do if we came back through. I'd say the same for others questioning if they want to go - do it once! The admission felt a little steep, but we wouldn't change our mind if given a second chance. It was a nice way to get up and close to some redwoods without driving 30 minutes between notable trees and/or hiking long trails.
google avatar

Josi H.

Yelp
We drove the 101 twice this year and the first time we skipped this and I am so happy that we decided to go the second time! This was such an incredible experience and something that I didn't even know that I needed on my bucket list but getting lost in the Redwoods is one of my favorite things I have done in my entire life. From the beginning to end it is a little over an hour but you are bright eyed with wonder the entire time. The tree species, the things you learn, the trek is absolutely worth it! The gondola was amazing, the tree bridge was so fun and it was not too busy so everyone got to enjoy their time at their own speed. I took so many fun photos and bought fun souvenirs and I am sure I will be back!

Yelp
I have passed by Trees of Mystery for many years. I was delighted to finally have time to stop and explore every corner of this campy tourist attraction. The canopy trail and gondola ride are lovely. But for an extra special visit find the boxes with fun "facts" about the forest and Paul Bunyan. I urge you to take the time and enjoy every one of those boxes. Challenge yourself to listen to the words and interpret those words through dance. After a few hours of wandering around the forest, you will get to exit through the gift shop. Before we arrived we read a review that said, "This gift shop had something for everyone!" As two adult minimalists with no kids, we scoffed at this claim. However, as soon as we walked in we were welcomed by fudge and Yerba Mate drinks. Well played Trees of Mystery, well played.
google avatar

Shelly Y.

Yelp
Nice place to stop, walk the trails amongst the majestic redwoods. Gondola up the hill. Walk back via the skywalk. Best gift shop! Hotel across road, Hidden Beach close by.
google avatar

Nichole R.

Yelp
Pure magic!! What a great place for an adventure. We spent the morning wandering the beautiful redwoods, riding the gondola, and walking across the bridges. My kids had an absolute blast and ran all over the place. I loved reading about the history, the trees, and seeing all of the carved wooden stories. Worth every penny!!!
google avatar

Lai Z.

Yelp
We loved this place. We spent most of the day here when they opened at 9. Lots of activities here for young kids and young at heart. It's about 8 hour drive from Reno but all worth it!
google avatar

Shannon C.

Yelp
This was a fun stop especially if you are not a hiker. You will feel like you have hiked through the forest when you are done! My 13 year old loved it. We brought our dog and there was a huge skywalk and a gondola. The gift shop with fresh fudge was amazing!
google avatar

Gary H.

Yelp
Nice place to go play. My favorite thing was the tree sky bridge portion which was high up the Redwoods. We all loved these bridges. The rest of the park is nice, but no different than the National parks. The Gondola line was long and we were disappointed we could not climb up the trails to the top. The map show a trail, but they are to exit only from the top. A fair price at $25 so I liked that part. Senior and Veterans discount is also available.
google avatar

Kyle H.

Yelp
This was so full of history. A most stop on a trip spot for some playful attraction with chainsaw tree sculptures, an aerial tramway & a 35-ft. Paul Bunyan and Babe statue. I loved my time here and would come back again. I did pack plenty of snacks and water. Also, my dog Daisy had a blast too.
google avatar

Rick M.

Yelp
I didn't actually look at the trees, but the on-site museum of Native American artifacts is well worth a stop.
google avatar

Ashley M.

Yelp
This place is awesome! I loved every bit of it and it seems like 20 dollars is a great price for the amount of things you do. There is so much to learn and the views are just amazing. The parking is easy and you can bring your dogs here as well! This is a one trip type of thing but I love it and great to bring children as the walking is pretty easy as well.
google avatar

Sandie E.

Yelp
Definitely a good place to learn and explore the redwoods. Different parts to explore including learning about Paul Bunyan of course but the sky trail and the canopy bridges were cool experiences along with just the hiking throughout. It was nice especially when you're not familiar with where to go in the state parks. I really enjoyed the Native American museum part too. Beautiful.
google avatar

Tracey R.

Yelp
This was a good experience. This attraction is very well kept with nicely maintained gravel trails, signage (both for mapping and facts), and fun little things to do and learn throughout the park. My family consists of mom (me), husband, 15 yo, 7 yo, 2 mo, and our puppy. I'd say me and the 7 yo enjoyed this attraction the most as we went on the suspension bridge twice. My husband was packing the baby and found the park OK. Our teenager was just happy our puppy could be with us and loved her banana slug plush souvenir. The gondola ride was a fun experience as you travel 750 ft up the side of a mountain and come a view of the Pacific Ocean. Even the pup got to experience this with us. There are interesting trees throughout the grounds that are picture-worthy for sure. The gift shop is HUGE and is joined with a nice little museum displaying Native American artifacts and information. All-in-all this was a nice stop to enjoy the Redwoods. I wouldn't insist that this be on your Hwy 101 bucket list unless you have some extra time.

Yelp
"The redwoods, once seen, leave a mark or create a vision that stays with you always. No one has ever successfully painted or photographed a redwood tree. The feeling they produce is not transferable. From them comes silence and awe. It's not only their unbelievable stature, nor the color which seems to shift and vary under your eyes, no, they are not like any trees we know, they are ambassadors from another time." ~John Steinbeck, Travels with Charley: In Search of America - What a blast! We walked the trails among the giant redwoods, I loved the Redwood Canopy Trail, a trail of aerial netted suspension bridges among the redwoods as high as 100 feet high. I also liked the Sky Trail Gondola ride to the ridge with spectacular views at the top. We hiked down from the ridge which was a blast, but this trail down is no cup of tea. It's steep and wet, so you need to take it slow and use a walking sticky (provided). It you do the trail down from the ridge, the whole experience should take about four hours. It's completely worth it! -

Yelp
This is a great place to explore the redwoods in all its glory. They have several trails to take and activities for $20 per adult and I think $11 for kids. There's a discount for seniors and military if you are from those categories. Their newest attraction is the Canopy in the Trees trail. You're on bridges up in the trees with a birds eye view. I'm not going to lie, it was a little scary. There is the Sky Trail where you ride a gondola up to the top of the mountain. There you will see wonderful views of the ocean and trees. You can either ride it back down or take an advanced hiking trail down(it's pretty steep). There's a ton of stuff to do and you can spend a couple hours there. It's an awesome stop if you're heading to Oregon or just wanting to visit the Redwoods.

Yelp
So this place has been around a while. I remember stopping here years ago when I was a kid. We took my stepson here about 15 years ago and most recently our granddaughters. It's definitely evolved over the years, adding attractions like the SkyTrail Gondolas and most recently the Canopy Trail. While we've been through many Old Growth groves, this place has big trees but not those HUGE trees most people seek out. Though... it's curated nicely, it's a relaxing and enjoyable walk, has unique trees sprinkled with educational bits and some tall-tale stories as well. All in all it elicited smiles and fun from us and the grandchildren as well. Not to mention it was dog friendly so our dogs were able to walk the trail with us as well (all but the Canopy Trail for obvious reasons). The price is reasonable, and you could spend about 2 hours or so walking around and seeing everything. Then maybe another 45 min wandering their big gift shop and museum. All in all we all enjoyed ourselves and got the bonus of seeing some local Roosevelt Elk in Orick on the way back to Eureka. A roadside attraction that you must stop at... even if just to take a photo with Paul Bunyan and his Anatomically correct Ox, Babe.

Yelp
As tourist traps go, this is one of the more beautiful and intriguing. Sure, there's an admission fee, kitschy photo ops with giant fiberglass likenesses of Paul Bunyan and Babe the Blue Ox (bigger than the ones in Bemidji, MN, for what it's worth) and a gift shop the size of your high school cafeteria... but there's a very real beauty here amidst all the tongue-in-cheek and schmarmy. Take a deep breath, take a short hike, and enjoy a couple of hours here on your way along the 101. Inside, you'll find a walking path that passes several interesting looking redwood trees. Nothing all that "mysterious" here with a modicum of research on the fascinating long-lived redwoods; most of the features are redwoods doing what they do-- growing sideways, springing up pups around a dead stump, creating tunnels through their formidable trunks...that sort of thing. Up in the woods towards the back is a free gondola ride to the top of the mountain, where a large observation deck provides an incredible view of the redwood forest. Did I mention the gift shop? Lots of redwood things, some assorted bric-a-brac and gifts, stuffed animals, and clothing with the name emblazoned on it. Corny family fun, some good photo ops, and not a whole lot between here and Crescent City to spend your money on anyway. Have fun!

Yelp
We had a blast at Trees of Mystery. It is very dog-friendly, and we took our two girls all along the trails. They even went on the gondola sky cruise! We took the mile-long nature trail back down the hill. You definitely need good shoes and take your time. It was not an easy hike back down, but it was fun. The gift shop has a ton of cool and unique items. Plan on spending at least 2 hours here, but definitely visit!

Yelp
So much fun and the hike down the hill from the gandala is totally doable. The souvenir shop had lots of fun and festive items. I loved taking pictures and hearing the story of Paul Bunyan and his ox Babe.

Yelp
Great roadside attraction trails were not difficult to navigate. The rope bridges between the Redwoods were awesome. These trees are awe inspiring! The gift shop is large and houses a native american.museum which is.informative and unexpected. The view from the top of the gondola is unrivaled as you can see the ocean and Redwoods In A near panoramic state.

Yelp
Third time visiting over the past five years. Always a great place to stop and explore the redwoods! Although, a couple employees certainly lacked any enthusiasm when it comes to customer service. Almost as if it were a chore for them to serve us.

Yelp
Great way to see unique one of a kind redwood growth. Absolutely worth the trip. Gondola and boardwalk are a blast.
