We had a wonderful time at treetops lodge! From the first moment we arrived we had such a warm welcome. Everybody was so friendly and helpful! We had a great driver Francis that took us on 2 drives in 2 different parks! We got to see lions, so many rhinos and much more he was so knowledgeable and attentive! At breakfast, lunch and dinner Susan made sure we always had what we needed! The entire service was wonderful and the food was great too (I’m gluten free) and I always found something to eat! They even gave me a little birthday show after dinner! Over night we got to see multiple elephants drinking from the water hole as well as so many buffalos! I would recommend everyone to stay here it was such an unexpected overly pleasant stay!

I recently took clients to Treetops Lodge in Aberdare National Park, and the experience was wonderful. The lodge has a charming, historic feel, with stunning views of the surrounding forest and wildlife. A truly lovely place to relax and enjoy nature.

Very welcoming and accommodating staff at this historically renowned hotel. Recently refurbished rooms. Hot water bottles a lovely touch in the evenings. Great lunch and dinner options, breakfast a bit limited and would be nice to get fresh coffee instead of instant.

We really enjoyed our stay at the renovated and reopened Treetops Lodge. The suite in which we stayed was spacious with excellent amenities, a great view of the watering hole, and a nice bathroom. The food was very good, the wildlife plenty, and the staff very friendly and helpful. As part of the renovations, they added ramps to all the floors, making the hotel much more accessible. We would recommend getting passes to the Aberdare National Park Treetops gate in advance through the Kenya Wildlife Service online portal once you know the date of your arrival. You can obtain passes at the gate, but the process can take time and is more cumbersome than doing it in advance through the KWS site on the Kenyan ecitizens platform.

The iconic Treetops is the start of our Kenyan adventure and does not disappoint. |The staff are lovely and the food (buffet) is very good.|Elephants and buffalo are plentiful at the watering hole to lick the salt that has been put out for the animals for decades. You certainly need to put your buzzer on at night. At some point in the night the buzzer sounded 3 times, we jumped out of bed and there was a huge rhino!! Amazing! |The rooms are very comfortable and the prices of the wine and beer very reasonable. (Beer £2.50 ish, bottle of wine £13)

It’s genuinely heartbreaking to see such an iconic place like Treetops reduced to this level of mediocrity. Luckily, I wasn’t staying the night — I only came for lunch, and even that was more than enough to know I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone. From the moment we arrived, it was clear that the service team was undertrained and disengaged. Our waiter couldn’t even tell whether the wine I ordered was red or white. The wine list itself is poorly curated — the design is confusing and the selection is below average at best. Lunch took an eternity to arrive. And when it finally did, it was beyond disappointing. I ordered the pork chops, which were so overcooked and dry I genuinely struggled to chew through them. It felt like the chef just grabbed random ingredients and threw together a marinade with zero thought or care. As for the “apple sauce” the menu promised — what arrived was a cloying, unidentifiable brown mess that had no place on the plate, let alone in a dish meant to complement pork. The whole experience felt like a careless afterthought — as if Treetops is now just riding on its past glory, without the effort or heart to maintain any sense of quality. Please fix the noisy fridge at the bar. Management needs to wake up. A place with this much history deserves better. I strongly urge a complete overhaul of the kitchen team, a serious investment in staff training, and a reevaluation of the menu and wine list. Until then, Treetops is just a sad shadow of what it once was.

Rooms are very very small, there is literally zero space for luggage. Food is below average . Since we are vegetarians , there were exactly 2 items. But the chef was kind enough to make some customised dishes for us . Frankly that was the only positive point . While bathing , the water stopped flowing , so in between , I had to go down to inform the reception. That was the worst part . All the rooms are on the 3rd floor and there is no lift . Walking up 3 floors was very tiring . There were a few wildlife sightings from the room , and the observation deck. That was possibly one more positive . Aberdare is more or less deserted by wildlife , so wildlife inside is bare minimum. Overall experience was bad , and I would not recommend this place

Treetops Hotel offers an unforgettable experience that beautifully blends history, wildlife, and tranquility. From the moment you arrive, you’re immersed in nature, with breathtaking views of the Aberdare forest and a front-row seat to wildlife at the nearby waterhole. The hotel’s rich history, famously known as the place where Queen Elizabeth II ascended to the throne, adds a sense of timeless charm. The rustic treehouse design, elevated walkways, and cozy ambiance make you feel part of the surrounding wilderness. Staff are warm, welcoming, and attentive, always ready to share knowledge about the animals and the hotel’s heritage. Evenings are peaceful, with opportunities to spot elephants, buffalos, and other wildlife from the safety of your room or lounge. Perfect for nature lovers, photographers, and those seeking a serene retreat away from the city. Treetops is not just a hotel; it’s a memorable adventure.
