This train ride to the Christ The Redeemer it’s very enjoyable. The trains are really clean. The train station has a chocolate shop which does Brazilian chocolates. So many different selection and they are really good. They’re a little bit expensive, but that’s what you pay for good quality chocolates.

Bought tickets online in advance for this tram service and so couldn’t change the date or time when the weather on the day was very misty. A positive of this was that the queue was very short on the ascent, and not too long when returning. The trams are clean & comfortable, and the scenery through the forest is nice. I can imagine, however, that the station must get very hot and crowded in better weather, not helped by being forced to pose for photos before the ascent. Removing this annoying feature would create more space for customers to queue more comfortably.

This is the train that takes you up to the Christ The Redeemer statue. Because we were on a private tour, our tickets were pre-purchased and I guess we could go up at anytime. We returned a few days later to go up on our own again, but the tickets had a one hour wait time, so plan accordingly. Tickets were about $8 per person round trip. Crowds at the end of June were minimal. The main station features restrooms and a gift shop. Be sure to check out the cool flag display hanging from the ceiling. The journey up on the electric train took about 20 minutes, making two stops in between. Once at the top, you're free to stay as long as you like at the Statue. There are more gift shops and small cafes there. TIPS: Unfortunately, the site closes at night. There is a road that goes up to the Statue as well.

The Corcovado Train is a classic and comfortable way to reach the iconic Christ the Redeemer statue. The ride takes you through beautiful Atlantic rainforest, offering stunning views along the way — for the best scenery, try to sit on the right side of the train. The service is well-organized and ideal for visitors of all ages. Booking your ticket in advance is highly recommended, especially on weekends, as it gives you much faster access. The train has a long history: it first reached the top of Corcovado Hill (710 m) back in 1885 and has been fully electric since 1910. Today’s trains, built by Stadler Rail (2019), are environmentally friendly — they recover energy from the downhill ride and use it to power the uphill journey. Fun fact: Remember the movie Rio? The train appears in a few scenes — so if you look closely, you might just spot a certain blue bird along the way.

An excellent visit, advance purchase ticket worked out perfectly. I can share my experience here as the other reviews were very helpful to me. Note I visited in November. I checked the weather, cloud cover and visibility on windy.com and then booked a ticket for the next day for a 10:00 am timeslot. The confirmation email suggested arriving at 09:30 am. I arrived around 09:15 am and there was a queue of around 200-300 people queueing to purchase tickets. The staff directed people who already had tickets to the left hand side windows (don't join the big queue by mistake, go to the main entrance and say you have a ticket), where you collect your actual ticket, by showing your confirmation email. This is your ticket up and down the train so don't lose it. I then queued for maybe 10-15 minutes to get on the train. The train departed around 09:50 am so you didn't appear to be restricted to a specific booked train. As others have said sit on the right hand side of the train, in the direction of travel, for the best views of Rio during the ascent. Everything else is straightforward, no other ticket required, spend as much time as you like and then queue up and get any train back down.

Buy your tickets directly in advance. Currently the site doesn't let you register it seems ( wrong date error). Reset password and you are good to go. Lines are long. They offer van transportation but the busy trainride is part of the experience😎

Well organised and a must if visiting Christ the Redeemer. It could get busy, and if you buy tickets online, stick to the time slot you have booked.
