While visiting Buenos Aires for the first time, I couldn’t miss the chance to check out one of the bars listed among the “World’s 50 Best.” Naturally, I came in with pretty high expectations — but honestly, I left a bit disappointed. The place itself felt rather ordinary, looking like a regular bar without much that made it stand out. I tried a couple of cocktails, and while the taste was good, it wasn’t particularly impressive or memorable. The atmosphere was somewhat hipsterish, and the bar wasn’t too crowded — maybe because I arrived quite late, after midnight. Overall, if you’re into cocktails, it’s worth a stop, but don’t set your expectations too high. Depending on your personal taste, it might feel special, or it might just feel like another average bar.

I have visited Tres Monos several times, intrigued by its inclusion in the Top 50 best bars list. I was always very well attended; the bartenders were attentive and happy to explain any questions. The bar counter is a bit short but allows for a fully immersive experience for those seated there. I ordered several off-menu cocktails and was always accommodated. Some classics were given a personal twist, using Argentine substitutes for Chartreuse, as well as house-made gins and liqueurs. The service was impeccable. I did notice a lack of variety in glassware, though all glasses used were of high quality. Most cocktails featured minimalistic garnishes. The lighting was warm and slightly dim, creating a cozy and intimate atmosphere, although the music was a bit loud at times. Pictures: Aviation, Naked and Famous, Boulevadier and Espresso Martini

First night in Buenos Aires = cocktail tour, obviously 🍸 We only had one night so we hit up Tres Monos (Three Monkeys), one of the World’s Top 50 Bars in Palermo. Maybe it was because it was a Tuesday, but the vibe was pretty chill (which was nice). Tried three cocktails — they were fine, not mind-blowing. Atmosphere was decent, music was good, and the staff were super attentive. Overall? Just… so-so 😅

Google
Ranked very high in the best bars list of the world. We were very happy with our drinks. The interactive bar tenders and the very nice staff all around the bar. Bar food was also very good.

The cocktails were delicious, the bar design is interesting, and they always bring water without asking that’s a nice touch. However, we were very disappointed by a few things that felt unacceptable for a bar that’s ranked among the best in the world. My friend knew they had daily or promotional cocktails for around 6000 pesos, but we weren’t informed or offered them until we specifically asked. That’s not a big deal. it happens. But on our next visit, we came back with friends and ordered the same cocktails, which suddenly cost 9000 pesos each. On top of that, they added a cocktail to our bill that we never ordered. Was it just carelessness, or were they trying to trick us? Either way, this kind of experience should not happen in a place with such a high reputation. We left feeling disappointed.

I honestly don’t understand how Tres Monos ended up on the “World’s 50 Best Bars” list. Walking in, it felt more like a grungy student hangout than a world-class cocktail bar. The décor is all neon gimmicks and graffiti, and the bathroom reeked of urine, not exactly the standard you’d expect from an award-winning venue. To be fair, my drink was decent, but at 26,000 pesos each the price is absurd for a simple Paloma with Don Julio Blanco when the whole bottle sells for 70,000 ARS. In the end, Tres Monos is coasting on its plaque and reputation, not on quality or professionalism. If you want real craft cocktails and genuine service, you’ll find far better bars in Buenos Aires. This one is all hype and nothing more.

Tres Monos in Palermo is the kind of bar that makes you feel like the long-lost cousin everyone’s been waiting for. I went to 4 different bars on my first day in Buenos Aires and this one didn’t just win — the others didn’t even realize there was a competition. The attention from the staff was so warm… I started wondering if they had mistaken me for a celebrity. The menu is very colorful and packed with creative cocktails. If you’re into sweet drinks, the Bananita Mona is liquid dessert in a glass — highly recommended. They don’t serve full meals, but they do have tasty small bites like the mini sausage. They’ve got WiFi, accept credit cards, and more importantly, they make you feel right at home. 5 stars, mostly for service so warm and charming I started questioning my actual friendships.

We had only cocktails on this first visit, but for sure one of the 5 best Old Fashioned’s I’ve had anywhere in the world including New York City. Trendy, grunge, cool. Old Fashioned Classico and Nuez Un French. Rocio(she) our bartender, is an artist

Yelp
Tres Monos is currently the world's #11 best bar as of the 2023 list. It's not. That's a very overrated position, but that doesn't mean they aren't a great bar! Tres Monos serves cocktails and basic bar food. I didn't try the food, but I tried plenty of drinks off their summer menu. They're all good choices. Each drink has a fun balance of flavor and is presented very simply. None of them shouted amazing, but they were all at least notable. For example, Tres Monos has their own sakes and whiskey which are a great cocktail additive. Their whiskey drinks are top notch. Prices are pretty much all $6 a drink which is a steal. You'll find bartenders vibing with the music and enjoying their time. The energy is infectious so sit at the bar if you can! I wouldn't call them a world's best bar for flavor, but they are a wonderful choice for fun. Indoor and outdoor seating is available. Reservations are highly encouraged unless you go early (before 6pm).

Yelp
We were drawn to Tres Monos after discovering its well-deserved ranking as the #27 best bar in the world on the prestigious 50 Best list, and it absolutely lived up to its reputation. This trendy establishment boasts vibrant neon lights and captivating graffiti, creating a cool ambiance. The drinks were delicious. the service provided was great. Yelp
Interesting bar with a very urban feel. Inside the walls are filled with graffiti, including their 3 monkey logo. One large booth looked like it was melted plaster from ceiling to floor. It was interesting to look at. Very chill vibe, as others noted. The wait staff is nice and explains all the drinks, some with great English skills. I have to say that from all the bars in Buenos Aires (and we went to many), this one had the best drinks. Fresco y batata was interesting and you definitely tasted the potato, quite unique! El Magic was also a great take on an espresso martini. The flavor was delicious. Definitely a must stop when in the city

Yelp
really cool cocktail bar with multiple rooms and outdoor seating. loved the vibe here with great music and diverse crowd. bartender and waitstaff were super chill. the night we were there, it was hopping and it took forever to get a drink. not just us, but all the people around us waited a long time, like 20-30 mins. but I assume that's unusual and won't stop me from coming again.

Yelp
Awesome place to grab drinks. Girl that was making drinks was probably one of the best I've ever seen. Great music and cool vibe. Highly recommend and will go back again tonight

Bar trash con mucha onda y muy buenos tragos! La comida no es la mejor pero para venir a tomar algo es lo más!
