The reason for my visit was to soak up the Swissvale-Rankin nostalgia and get some food. Got a cheese steak battleship and a pop. Cheesesteak hoagie was almost 3 feet long....packed with shredded steak meat, provolone cheese, lettuce, tomatoe and drowned in mayonaise.....oh well. It was hot and good. A meal for three adults. All that is missing is a few pinball machines to play while you wait for your order.

Hole-in-a-triangle type of gem that produced the best Philly cheesesteak sandwiches we've ever eaten. Highly recommend visiting. I'm not gonna lie, ordering gave off Seinfeld soup nazi vibes but we seemed to pass the test and the food was amazing, beer was cold, we were served fast and my sandwich cut "for the lady". Zero complaints! Please keep me in touch if you ever offer out of state delivery.

Excellent cheesteak. The place was busy, but the staff still took my order promptly and the sandwich still had steam when it was served. The sandwich had a bit of a sweet taste and fresh bread. Loaded with so much steak that I used the fork to eat what fell off the sandwich. I had the cruiser cheesteak, but others ordered their signature battleship which is at least two and a half feet long. The dining area was what I expected, an older bar restaurant from another era when the area was full of steel workers. This place is cash only, but I did see an ATM inside. Located in an older residential area, so parking could be a challenge.

I hate to leave this review because usually I go and there's so much meat on my sandwich that I can't even close it but today for some weird reason I got a cheesesteak and there was literally no meat it tastes like cheese and bread... Look at the pictures I think I will never go here again.

Delivered to me thru uber eats said it would take 80 mins for delivery, called store to confirm order, respectful employees that works their were nice to accommodate my order so it didn’t come soggy because I’m 45 mins from the store location… best SANDWICH I’ve had in along time( battleship size) and I got my order within 45 mins from placing my order Thank you TRIANGLE BAR & GRILL!!!!!(DONT FORGET TO GRAB THAT MAC & SALAD🔥 & More!!!)

Wow! The Triangle Bar and Grill in Swissvale looks unassuming outside, but inside was bright and welcoming. Francisco (he told us to call him Pancho like his friends do) was so helpful as we were trying to figure out what we wanted. What a salesman too! He convinced us we'd want leftovers for our "long drive tomorrow" (his words, we told him we were from Indy ...). When we got our sandwich, it was enough to feed 10 people, easy! Indeed, we had dinner, lunch on the road the next day, another lunch the day after ... and we still had some leftover. We ordered the Original Italian Battleship. Great taste, good value. We love to support this type of small business! Give them a try - remember to bring cash only.

I was in town from Houston Tx and I ordered a Philly cheesesteak,potato salad and THE best dill pickle I EVER had in my life! Incredible flavor!!! Keep up the delicious food!!!!

Personally, I think the place was quite overrated. I’ve heard a lot about it, and they have acquired a lot of awards and rankings, but it is at the end of the day a simple sandwich shop. Not bad, not great. Just okay. I tried the cheesesteak sandwich in the destroyer size, and I added mushrooms. I do like that you’re able to add mushrooms, lettuce, and other classic items for free, so a nice way to customize the sandwich. However, that’s really the only somewhat special thing about this place. The portion was okay for the price, but it felt only slightly above average. It was a tasty sandwich, with pretty quality meat, but nothing crazy. I thought there wasn’t quite enough cheese. All in all, a solid sandwich shop. Nothing crazy but still tasty. Might come back to try some more sandwiches.

Don't let it fool you, this place is great. Staff is very helpful. Prices are decent for the quantity you get. When we arrived there was no one at the bar or bartender, not sure if it gets busier in the evening or something. But the two employees were non stop making hoagies. They did an excellent job at balancing phone orders and walk ins. If you got a hankering for a hoagie while in the area, make the stop.

I have lived here for almost 7 years now and have never heard of this place until this week. I am so unbelievably mad that it took me this long to hear or be recommended this place. It's a well known place that isn't well known and deserves far more recognition. All the locals known about it, some of the surrounding areas and anyone not from here has never heard of it. If you go on their website you'll see they won a bunch of awards and Thrillist even put them on list of 33 Best Sandwich Shops in America The outside and inside are straight dive bar. It's everything Pittsburgh and more This is hands down one of IF NOT the best staple mark deli hoagies I have ever had. I doubt there is one that comes close to this in pittsburgh. The bread is homemade and the star of the show. So fresh and soft with no give. They absolute loaded it up to. The oil and vinegar had good season to it that was bomb. Reminds me of the Wegmans's seasoned olive oil. If you have ever had than you know what I'm talking about This is exactly what you want and more when you are getting a cold cut deli hoagie. Also that entire thing was $26 and can feed 3 people.

Service 10/10. Size 10/10. Homemade bread! Great amount of meat in the subs! Absolutely nothing to change. It was so wonderful and tasted just how I wanted it to. Added mayo and it was fantastic. Dad/Uncle split the super battleship, which for only $1 added double ham to their Italian. Great takeout lunch spot.

I worked near the Triangle for 18 years and would sometimes go there to pickup one of their battleships or destroyers. They've got an assembly line going nonstop pumping out their famous hoagies , weekends people from all corners of the city pick them up for tailgating before high school and Steelers games.

One of the oldest and best places in Pittsburgh to get a hoagie, always tasty and made fresh.

No frills, just straight forward service and awesome food! One of the best sandwich spots around, don't sleep on this place! You can always call ahead to order too if you don't want to wait. There isn't much of a waiting area, and it's just a bar, so it's much more known for take out

I have heard about their famous Battleship sandwich and I finally had the opportunity to try one. It was one of the best Italian hoagies that I have ever tasted. I hate to admit it being raised on the South Side, but it may even rival the McCoy's Original.

Great neighborhood sports bar.  Known for their oversized, delicious hoagies.  Located on Monongahela Avenue in Swissvale.  They bake their own bread and put together the most delicious creations.  They have a "Super Battleship" great for sharing, a "Battleship" measuring 27 inches long, a "Destroyer" measuring around 13 inches long and a "Torpedo" great for an individual.  Eat in and take out options available.  Great spot to grab a delicious sandwich and watch your favorite Pittsburgh sports team!

The sandwiches are huge. They only take cash. They have a full bar and gambling machines inside. The people who took my order were nice and also no nonsense. Parking was free on the street. There was a line behind us right after we got there. The phone had been ringing and didn't stop ringing when we got there.

I hadn't been to this place in more than 20 years. As a kid, my dad and I would sometimes hit up Triangles Saturday before a Steeler game, get our hoagies for the following day, and watch my fav team either dominate or underperform per usual. This place has so many memories beyond the food (the bathrooms are basically the exact same since the mid 90's lol). Even as Pittsburgh changes, the best parts of it seem to find a way to survive. I but into this sub and felt like a kid again

Exceeded expectations! Ordered the super battleship, which is the battleship with more meat, and a side order of potato salad. The hoagie was flavorful, weighty all the way through to the edge of the hoagie bread which isn't always the case with hoagies. I rank the super Italian hoagie as an 8.5 to 9.0 out of 10. Potato salad was average, 5 out of 10. Cash only but they do have an ATM on site. Very friendly and fast staff.

I've been driving by this place for years when taking a traffic detour around the squirrel hill tunnel, and because I was always running late, I never had a chance to stop. But today I made it a plan to check it out. WOW. Basic sammiches on a great roll. Not a lot of choices, but what they do, they do well. Just giant subs and cheesesteak subs on quality bread. Not a lot of toppings to choose from ,but they have all the basics. There are basically four sizes, torpedo, destroyer, battleship and super battle ship. You better be hungry or sharing if you get a battleship Good food at great prices!

There are no descriptions of what their sandwiches are anywhere to be found--Not online when you try to order and not on the menu on the website either. You name a sandwich "torpedo" charge $12 for it and don't tell anybody what's on it

The sandwich I had was good, but it was nothing great or special, especially for the price. I first heard about this place on the TV shows that featured it, and I always thought that if I made it back to Pittsburgh, I'd like to go. Now, I'm disappointed. The bread was good. The prices were a bit high. The quality of the product was ok. I don't feel bad that we went. I also never will feel the need to go back. The bar was old. The barstools are a much mash of discomfort. They don't take credit or debit cards. It's strictly cash only. They do have an ATM on site, but there's a $2.75 surcharge. They also have minimal amenities; plastic forks and paper plates. This place was more fun when I saw it on TV and anticipated what it would be like. Now that I've been there, the fun is gone. They're still trying to relive the glory days when the mills were booming. Those days are over. Unless you like the nostalgia of an old building with an old bar in a town that is barely hanging on, and with minimal comforts, go somewhere else. It just isn't worth the trip or the cost to go here. You can find places at least as good nearly anywhere.

So much talk and raves about this place! But it was Meh to me. Maybe because the sun was not baked, it did not stand out at all. So much bread but bland and soft-ish. No texture, no crumb. There really isn't any ambiance; it's a sub shop.

Always a great hoagie. Since I've been coming back since the 70s when my dad would get us a battleship. It was and still is a treat.

Great subs. Been there millions of times, and it's alway great. The service is always nice, and they work get out fast. No too much seating, a better carry-out

First time in at Triangle Bar and I wasn't sure what I was going to get. I watched the first six people in front of me all order the same Battleship sandwich and who was I to go against the grain?! Ordering was a cinch and the sandwich was ready lickety split. Where the experience sort of fell apart for me was the amount of mayonnaise on the sandwich and just how soggy it became during the drive home. It wasn't nearly as enjoyable as I would've hoped overall but perhaps the lesson learned was to hold the mayo and eat immediately.

I had been wanting to try this place for a while now, and finally was able to go on my recent trip to the Burgh. I had a steak destroyer and enjoyed it very much. Just remember that it's cash only -- there were a couple folks who showed up to pick up their orders when I was there who were disappointed to find that they didn't take cards and therefore they couldn't get their food.

A true Pittsburgh classic! Great way to feed the office or family. Everybody loves their Triangle Battleship! Fun and friendly service. Highly recommended!! Don't go by, give it a try! You won't be disappointed!

Amazing subs!!! This place has been in business for 45 years that I know of. Probably longer. Still go there.

Fantastic subs and sandwiches of all sizes. Stepping into the Triangle is like stepping into the late 60's defiantly old dated. The bar is good to drink a beer while waiting on your order. Cleanliness was fair but not great. Orders are usually called in and picked up but I guarantee you this, the sandwiches are absolutely incredible. I would highly recommend calling in your order and picking it up, it's not a place to take your girl for a romantic lunch or dinner but as I said your belly will be full and you'll be a repeat customer.

Pretty good sub especially for the size/price raito. My boyfriend and I got the italian battleship sub. Wish it had pickles and sweet peppers and the rest of the fun fixings Comes with lettuce, tomato, and onion- my boyfriend just ordered it with lettuce because hes picky Would get again! Good to split for 3 people easily. He's taking the rest for lunch to work tomorrow because so much was left after we ate!

Note: Cash only! We recently moved to the neighborhood so the Triangle was on our list of places to try. We heard about their giant sandwiches and the rumors were true! I am 6' tall and the Battleship came up above my knee. The destroyer wasn't too shabby either, going half-way up my shin. The subs were heavy, too (like physically a lot to carry!). Once you get past the size, the subs are solid. The combos (you pick two meats) are especially good for variety sake. If you just get one meat it ends up being A LOT of that one meat. We also got a side of macaroni salad which was very creamy. Takeout service was prompt and friendly. We will definitely be back! Their prices are a bit higher than the most recent Yelp menu photo.

I had been here years ago & wanted to return. I had the pastrami & ham combo torpedo. I ordered the sandwich for take out & it was made quickly. The service is friendly & efficient. Street parking with one space behind the store.

During my trip to town I kept driving by Triangle Bar and Grill and wondering if their sandwiches were as good as they claim to be. I was super excited that on my last day in town it worked out that a hoagie sandwich was decided for lunch and we were for sure coming here! I am sad to report the lady taking my order made me feel extremely stupid and unwelcome. Between a lot of options and the local lunch crowd filing in behind me I had sandwich test anxiety. I asked what the most popular sandwich was and what was hands down the most popular. Her response was an annoyed reaction so I felt flustered and just ordered. Once my classic Italian sandwich was built, the lady, annoyed still, just kind of flung it at me and took my money. Sandwich was ok, just a basic sub with minimal sauces, it wasn't horrible but I can name a few more sandwich shops that outshine, not only with their food but personality too. After talking about this sub-shop for a week, my experience on all levels was subpar.

Honestly I think the sandwich itself is nothing special. Pittsburgh is better known for baked hoagies - not cold subs. Go to Philly for a cold sub. Ever have a Danny's oven baked Italian hoagie? If you ever have you'll understand what I mean.

Got original Italian and cheese steak destroyers to go. It seems like the seating area isn't really open and they're mainly doing take out and operating the bar. The destroyer size is about 12 inches. I had been craving a classic hoagie with oil and vinegar and the Italian was perfect. Soft chewy bread, nice balance of meats, lettuce, toppings. The cheese steak was nice as well, not exactly a Philly steak, but the meat was very tender and flavorful. Maybe a little too salty. Overall, a really tender, melt in your mouth sandwich.

A LONG-standing icon in the Pittsburgh area, a MUST try!!! Service is always fantastic and the food is so good, if the Steelers are playing a big game, it's not unusual for them to literally run out of bread, so order yours EARLY!!! It's cash only but they have an ATM inside. #HomeOfTheBattleship

The triangle bar battleships are great tasting for sure. It's been many years since I had one but I remember them being even bigger before. Not sure if it's me but I thought they were like 3 feet long? Still good though and iconic! Service was good and friendly while the place itself was much nicer than I remember too

Don't see what all the hipe is. It's a bland tasting hoagie, with old lunch meat,, and the steak hogie is horrible taste like liver. Keep your money

Fantastic. I am from MO but visiting my birthplace. I have heard about this bar for a while through a Facebook group. While visiting I told my husband we have to eat here. It did not disappoint. Neat old place. Loved the bar.Kept thinking my parents, and grandparents, aunts and uncles sat at that bar in the 50's or 60's. The sandwich was the BEST. We got the Destroyer size with roast beef. BIG sandwich. We ate 3/4 of it and had the other 1/4 for a snack later. Not one piece of fat on that sandwich. The olive oil just added so much. I cannot recommend this place enough. All very pleasant staff and great service. One destroyer and 3 beers under $20. My gosh! Get your butt here!

Place ain't what it used to be, dropped off dramatically and it's a shame been coming here for 40 years don't even cut up the battleship anymore major disappoint and was overcharged for sandwiches lol unless menu is wrong somebody scheming what a shame

A Pittsburgh must! We used to go to Triangle all the time (a long time ago), but we stopped because they still allowed smoking. Well-we found out that smoking is no more. TOTALLY changed the taste of the bread. YUM! We have literally been here at least once a month since getting this marvelous news. We usually get the turkey sub (destroyer or battleship depending on the crowd). But, we've also had tuna, roast beef, corned beef-all great! Next time-I want to try a meatball destroyer! You definitely want to call ahead. Be patient there are 2 guys working there usually (at least when we've been in). They have to make the sandwiches and answer the phone. Also-CASH ONLY. Be prepared otherwise you have an ATM fee ahead of you!

I stopped by on my lunch break for what would turned out to be an amazing delicious one. Ordered a pastrami and corned beef destroyer which I destroyed half of. The meat was nicely portioned. Everything was perfect.

DO NOT EAT HERE. I wish i could give it a 0. I've personally seen them remove parts of bread eaten by a rat, and before you ponder yes i seen the rat!!! I was picking up a friend from work and decided to get a sandwich for the event we were attending and soon as i seen the rat I let everyone n Line know and pointed to the rat droppings on the bread shelf and also the missing chunks of Bread. Shortly after all the chaos my friend was pissed i was even ordering. He let me know exactly how they do business and that's very very unethical unsanitary. He quit the next week it's a been a while since RAT-Gate and i. Haven't been back since. I will never go back simply because they believe that's if it's not broke don't fix it‍‍‍

I'd heard rave reviews about this spot but was unfortunately disappointed that it was a mediocre hoagie at best. The only impressive thing here was the novelty of the hoagie being 24 inches. We ordered ahead and were quoted a 45 minute wait on a Tuesday night, surprising when most places can prep a hoagie in just minutes. When we arrived, staff were wearing masks improperly with their noses exposed. We didn't know it was CASH ONLY and luckily had enough, but it would've been nice to be reminded on the phone since this is not announced on the website or online menu. Not only did they give us someone else's order when we walked in to pick it up (no names written on the bags) and switched it back as we were about to walk out, they also rang up potato salad before realizing they didn't have it in stock. Luckily the macaroni salad they substituted was good, but we had ordered it over the phone and they should have checked when we ordered. By the time we got home, the sandwich was already soggy and soaked through the paper wrapper, suggesting that the sandwich had likely been sitting before we got there. The meat was average at best. Overall, it was acceptable, but definitely won't be going out of my way to get this sandwich again.

My dad always brought a big hoagie from here home. It was excellent. When I started to work at TCV, I would stop here often for lunch, and the food was still excellent. Keep up the great work.

You have not had a sub, hero, or hoagie until you been to the Triangle...Get a classic you won't regret it!!

I'm up here for work and every one was telling me I have to try triangle bar and grill subs. I ordered the Destroyer and omg it was huge! I didn't think I would be able to finish the whole thing but I worked my way up to and it boy was it good. I like my husbands subs but his are so much smaller. This sub was big and long and left me stuffed and satisfied. It's fair say triangle bar and grill destroyed me, I don't think I'll be able to walk right the rest of the day lol. Will definitely be returning for seconds next time I'm up here for work -Karen

An old time sandwich shop that needs to update to the current century. They consistently get orders incorrect. They need to have a dedicated ordering process instead of having whomever is near the phone answering. When they get things correct they are great. However they still haven't arrived. I had to throw my sandwich out today because the order had items I asked not to have on and I'm allergic. Too far to drive back and return. Guess it's time to try a new place.

Every thing i tried here is pretty good i cant really pin point one thing though i just like the food in general
