"Nairobi’s first hip property is a welcome addition to the respectable but staid choices that have, until recently, summed up the capital’s upscale hotels. Inside, a four-story glass atrium and more than 800 pieces of artwork create a striking nightclub-like space in which modern architecture and traditional African forms intermingle. The 137 rooms and loft-style suites—decorated in shades of ocher, brown, and beige—convey an urban cool, with curved walls and headboards and the contemporary and traditional sculptures on display. Even the least expensive standard rooms have huge glass-walled bathrooms, some with freestanding tubs, packets of ground Kenyan coffee, and complimentary minibar treats. The majority of guests are business travelers taking advantage of the hotel’s high-security location in the Village Market, a gated shopping mall and expat hangout near the embassy district, and 20 minutes by car from the city center. The pool terrace hosts private receptions and cocktail parties on weekends, while the restaurant Epic—which serves grills and a montage of African, Asian, and Italian dishes—attracts an upscale local crowd. Staff are enthusiastic without being obsequious."

Tribe Hotel (Nairobi, Kenya) 4 Hotel Reviews | Tablet Hotels

"Located in Nairobi’s leafy Gigiri neighborhood — which happens to be the embassy district, and just ten minutes from the city center — the the 137-room Tribe is a perfectly positioned business hotel that looks nothing like a business hotel, more than luxe enough to serve as a place to recharge before or after a trip to trip to the bush, as well. The style is a cosmopolitan one, with art from all over Africa adorning airy, free-flowing interiors, and architecturally there’s hardly a straight line in sight." - Tablet Hotels

Hotel is located next to the Village Market in Nairobi, Kenya. It has very nice architecture and layout with many nice corners with privacy. Room is clean, quiet, functional and well appointed. Food is good. However, service tends to be slow/late, and messages and requests often fall through the crack and not followed-up between shifts.

One of the best in the town! I visited this place on my trip to Nairobi to attend a function! All the arrangements were fantastic. Food and service was top notch! Staff is very humble and courteous. Hygiene is their priority as seen in washrooms and kitchen/restaurant areas! Gym is good…. All n all great place….

Exceptional Service, Stunning Design - True Kenyan Hospitality at Its Finest From the moment I arrived at The Tribe Hotel around 11 PM, I knew I was in for something special. The security team welcomed me warmly despite the late hour, setting the tone for what would become an extraordinary stay. A True Boutique Experience: The Tribe is a genuine boutique hotel in every sense – the décor is absolutely breathtaking. Every space features carefully curated pieces that create a sophisticated yet welcoming atmosphere. From the lobby to the guest areas, the attention to design detail is impeccable. This isn't just a hotel; it's a thoughtfully crafted experience where art, design, and hospitality merge seamlessly. The People Who Made It Memorable: Norah and Purity at reception demonstrated the kind of attention to detail that transforms good service into exceptional hospitality. Purity not only checked me in efficiently late at night but remembered my name the following morning at breakfast – a touching gesture, especially as my name isn't the easiest to remember. This personal touch made me feel truly seen and valued. Christmas Day was made magical by Doreen and Valentine at the Executive Lounge. Their warmth, attentiveness, and genuine care ensured that all guests were well looked after, with excellent food and drinks throughout the day. They made what could have been a lonely holiday away from home feel like celebrating with family. The housekeeping team, Fatima and simon, were consistently the first smiling faces I'd see when leaving my room. Their proactive approach – always checking if I needed anything, meant my room was impeccably maintained and I never wanted for anything. Blair and Jacinta at the entrance greeted me with genuine smiles every single time I passed through, making each return to the hotel feel like coming home. The Facilities: Jiko Restaurant is simply stunning – the décor alone is worth the visit, creating an ambiance that elevates the entire dining experience to another level. While I didn't get the chance to use the swimming pool or gym, I spent blissful hours sunbathing on the terrace, which offered the perfect space to relax and unwind while taking in the hotel's beautiful aesthetic. Final Thoughts: What sets The Tribe Hotel apart is the perfect marriage of exceptional design and genuine hospitality. The carefully curated interiors create a sophisticated atmosphere, while every single staff member I encountered went above and beyond to ensure my comfort and happiness. I genuinely felt like part of the Tribe family rather than just a guest. This is Kenyan hospitality at its finest, delivered in a space that's as beautiful as the service is warm. Thank you, Tribe Hotel, for an unforgettable experience. I cannot wait to return. Highly recommended for: Design enthusiasts, solo travelers, families, anyone seeking world-class service with genuine heart in a beautifully appointed setting.

Set in Nairobi’s leafy Gigiri neighborhood—an enclave best known as the city’s embassy district—Tribe Hotel enjoys a peaceful setting just ten minutes from the city center. The hotel’s cosmopolitan aesthetic is immediately apparent, with contemporary African art curated from across the continent adorning airy, free-flowing interiors. Architecturally, the space feels organic and dynamic, with scarcely a straight line in sight. Our split-level Loft Suite was particularly well designed, offering distinct work and leisure zones that made the space feel both functional and indulgent. Upstairs and down, the suite struck a comfortable balance between style and practicality. Relaxation comes easily at Tribe. Guests can unwind at the rooftop bar, take a dip in the elaborate heated pool—complete with a fireplace and submerged granite table—or retreat to the full-service spa. A stylish restaurant and soaring lobby lounge further enhance the sense of effortless luxury. Beyond the hotel doors, Nairobi’s vibrant social life beckons. Just down the street lies Village Market, East Africa’s largest shopping and recreation complex, home to an array of boutiques, restaurants, a cinema, and even a water park—making Tribe an ideal base for both relaxation and exploration.

Everyone at this hotel from the wait staff at the restaurant (Victoria!) to the reception to the parking helpers (Roger’s and Tony!) is so helpful and nice. The facilities are great, the food is amazing, but I would come back here again and again for the people.

My husband and I recently had the unlikely opportunity to stay at Tribe Hotel for over a week while he recovered from emergency surgery. Needless to say we arrived out of sorts and the staff were attentive every step of the way, going above and beyond all expectations. While we were in an unexpected situation, I observed staff caring for every patron in the same fashion we received. The pool deck, indoor/outdoor restaurant and rooftop patio are beyond inviting making it hard to stop lounging while watching beautiful birds fly by. The food is fresh, prepared and served with care and I can say I’ve never had such wonderful room service! The spa has attentive staff and a seemingly endless menu of massages, body wraps and full body scrubs. I will be forever grateful for Rogers, John, Tony and everyone whose name I didn’t remember. We hope to return to Nairobi and when we do, Tribe Hotel will be the only place we lay our heads. From the bottom of our hearts, thank you. With love, Laura and Robby

Had lunch this week. Musau and Phillip are always a vibe. The salmon always spot on. The menu has slightly changed but always for the best and every bite is a delight.
