Seems like the people in the surfing section only care about:
- how many people are in each session
~ The staff/instructors treat larger groups better than smaller groups. From my experience, for smaller groups (ESPECIALLY beginners - intro class), they just want them over and done with.
- whether you're a complete beginner or a pro
~ This surfing place was the first place I came for my birthday today, and I reached at 9.15am, person at check-in counter told me briefing's at 9.45. I got a bit confused, because on the website it said they'll start briefing 15 minutes before start time SHARP, and that if you don't get ready by 9.45, they'll turn you away. but when I told her that, she repeated that briefing is at 9.45.
I thought they cared about punctuality a lot because on the website they seemed to. BUTTTT GUESS WHAT! The briefing (supposed to be at 9.30) was conducted at 9.45 instead (which was supposed to be the START time of the session) and while I waited (from 9.15 to 9.45), there were a few more skilled surfers taking turns surfing at the simulator. At 9.45, they were still there, and the instructors didn't bother telling them to go. We ended up starting at 10 instead. Ain't no way I paid $70.85 for just a 30 min session, supposed to be 45 min???? I got scammed of my 15 mins bruh... please update the duration on your website if it's meant to start 15 mins after the supposed starting time!!
During my 30 mins lesson, my instructor was just telling me what to do for like 20 mins before finally coming down to the wave to properly guide me in the last 5-10 mins... at least at the very end I learnt how to turn, but barely.
Do note that you can get injured quite easily in the surf sessions, especially if you're a beginner. They mostly come from you being swept from the front of the simulator to the back (the shallow area). Esp since they are quite/very powerful and fast waves, so periodically (every 1s or so???) you will feel a strong push against you and you hit the shallow part. that's usually where you get injured. My instructor did ask me if I was okay every time I fell into the water though, which I do appreciate.
Ladies' toilet facility:
- got 3 hairdryers, the circle-ring shaped ones (2 of them are) are good!
- got some space to put ur stuff beside the leftmost sink while you do whatever stuff there (eg combing hair)
- 1 clean shower room (no area to put your things on, but there's a hanger on the door)
- 2 sort of ok-a bit dirty shower rooms (middle), got area to put ur things + hanger
- 1 quite clean shower room (most inside the room), got area to put ur things + hanger.
But overall experience: still sucked, especially since it's $70.85... I had higher expectations of this place... Ig can recommend if you have nothing to do in sg, but I do not recommend this place if you wanna go here for any special occasions etc.!!
