Visited while in town for a wedding. Staff seemed good. The bar is pretty dated. Like others have mentioned, its a typical dive bar. Bathrooms ( especially men's apparently) are sketchy. These pics reflect some of the vibe. I'm so curious what the other signs were on the bathroom door. The tots and chicken strips were awesome. They have a cool painted mural!

Well, in looking for a mom and pop style restaurant, google brought us here. It's more of a bar with a restaurant. But oh my goodness! The food, especially the "beaver tail" was soooo good! We were there around 4:30pm and the locals were just beginning to wander in, so it was rather quiet still. The cook, I was told had messed up one of our orders and was recooking it. Not only that, but the cook came out himself and offered apologies and said he was giving us that meal free.??? Really!?! Who does that nowadays? We did not complain in any way. Stuff happens and it was no bother for us, we had no schedule to keep. And yet, the staff of Trillium took it upon themselves to make our experience there go far above our expectations. Do I recommend stopping here? EMPHATICALLY YES! Good food, good service and good vibes.

Google
Seems like a great place to drink, loved the 90's grunge music and our waiter was good but the food was lacking. The chicken parm coating was kind of soggy and the little sauce on there had no flavor. The meatloaf was pretty bland even for meatloaf. The Cajun tots were pretty good. Think they need to rethink the menu, bring some spice and pop to their offerings. I think my dad (classic boomer) would love the food here. If you order tots, ask for extra crispy.

Google
The facilities have a somewhat run down look although this seems to be the vibe they are going for. Kind of that hole in the wall with great food feel. Everything was clean and kept up though. The food, appropriately enough, was quite good. My burger (their Trillium burger), cooked just right (medium) as requested was excellent. Juicy patty, soft bun, crisp bacon, and fresh fixings. Tater tots were crispy and well seasoned. They were somewhat busy for a late Sunday morning but service was still prompt and friendly. I intend on coming back when a craving for a good burger strikes.

We stopped just for a snack, but it turned into us having lunch. It’s been fun letting bartenders make our drinks based on what we like when we know there is a full bar. The Mac and Cheese was listed as a Specialty on the menu, so I was ready to be impressed. Let me tell you. OMG. This was freaking amazing. It wasn’t full of extras, just the best ingredients. As much as I wanted to just sit and shovel it in my mouth, I made myself eat it very slow so I could enjoy and remember it forever. My lunch companion’s meals were described as good and tasty. The fresh cut fries were really, really good. Establishment was clean, the service was friendly and prompt.

Google
So, this place has a lot going for it. If they could dial in the grub, they'd have a winning combination. I had the Uranium burger, and for a Garlic and Blue Cheese Burger my taste buds were thoroughly underwhelmed. The staff were friendly and courteous as well as quick. The fries that accompanied my burger were very good. I just wish I had been able to move some of that flavor to my burger. This really is a fun little hole in the wall, smack dab in the midst of Hoodsville on Oak. Give it a go sometime. Mileage may vary. 🤣

Google
Friend in town from LA wanted to see Hood River. In party mode, Justin the bartender was great. Made the perfect white Russian. I was curious about the fried green beans.... better than zuke fries! Definitely try them.

Google
When you go wine tasting in the Gorge, a must stop is the Trillium Cafe'. Best 1/2 burger for the price in Oregon. Add the cajun tots and curry soup and your taste buds will thank you all the way home.

Yelp
Food was great. Wings are hot Service was quick. I recommend the hot wings and the salads were fresh and cold. Wouldn't hesitate if you like good bar food.

Darlene M.

Yelp
Super friendly service. Nice rustic inside ambience. The Beer cheese soup is good flavorful. Fish and chips were good with a tangy tartar sauce. My husband had the roast beef sandwich, which was good as well. Everything was hot and freshly made french fries look like they were hand cut and I really appreciated the side of mixed greens with my fish and chips with a nice tangy dressing.

Yelp
Pretty good food. Service was okay but there's definitely room for improvement. The cook seemed more attentive to us than the bartender/waiter...until he saw us counting our tip out then he became chatty. The painted wall by the booths is quite dirty and the cracks in our table were filthy, but the drinks looked good.

Nato S.

Yelp
Watch out for the mixed drinks. We ordered 2 g&T's but they were outta gin so we got Something else which came with floaters so we ordered something else again and that came with a fly. The food is good tho.

Troy N Inger G.

Yelp
Early lunch for us and an empty place. Collin provided wonderful service with great conversation about our plans for the day. The food was delicious! It was just what we needed. The BLT was loaded with bacon and home cut fries were amazing. The chicken charlie with Taylor tots was perfect. We will be back.

Yelp
Man I always loves this place. A little different from the normal hood river scene. Priced about perfect and a decent but small menu. We frequently stopped here. Always has fresh cut fries. Today was quite a bad experience. Never offered or asked if we wanted more than water. Which was just tap, zero ice seen.. Took almost 1 hour for a burger and garden salad. Salad came after about 30 minutes with wilted lettuce and bottled ranch at 9$ for a small. Didnt get touched. After almost 50 minutes got a burger that was a clearly frozen patty, maybe about 1/3 lb. Came with lettuce onion tom, and 2 pickle chips was cooked slightly more than done. Not horrible but edible. Didnt offer salt or pepper. There's only about 6 tables and only 3 were full. More worried about telling a customer about a catering option at a separate location, for several $$$ more than our plates. Waiter and cook seemed to be arguing about plating and sides the whole time. Makes me sad cause I love this place and tried to go all the time in hood river. Hard to find a place that isn't "hood riverish" in the area.

Yelp
I've been having cocktails at the Trillium for years. Last night was really underwhelming. First, the pours were really short. I had 4 cocktails and could have passed any states' sobriety test easily. That was not cool at 7.95/drink. Secondly, bugs (mainly fruit flies) were cruising around everywhere which was gross. My friend and I had to constantly wave our hands to keep the bugs away from our table, faces, and drinks the whole time we were there. Combine bugs and small pours and I will opt for bars that have a better value proposition and knows how to operate a clean bar/restaurant.

Jacque C.

Yelp
A quirky local spot for drinks and tasty bar food. It has a full bar and an nice selection of goodies to eat if you're hungry. We stopped in for lunch. The ingredients were fresh, plentiful and toasty. We shared a delicious turkey meister sandwich and tater tots. Our server was friendly and attentive to our soft drinks stayed full! The locals at the bar added to the atmosphere. They have a cool mural that reminds me of Where the Wild Things Are...for a quick afternoon lunch we thought it was great!

Colleen M.

Yelp
Rude and completely unprofessional. I think this photo shows the service 100% do not recommend.

Molly l.

Yelp
Best chicken strips and fries in town! My kids and I love coming in when we are visiting.

Alison P.

Yelp
Popped in for a snack and a drink while wandering around Hood River. Cute place, was able to grab a booth immediately and the service was friendly and prompt. Everything we ordered was delicious and served quickly. It was so nice to stop in here to relax over a snack.

Henry M.

Yelp
Truly a hood river staple. Decent food, good bartender. Nice divey atmosphere. Shame there's not too many like this in town any more

Shari I.

Yelp
Killer fries. Hamburgers large and we'll cooked. Friendly staff. The restrooms could use an overhaul. The kitchen is visible and seemed a mess, but the food was good, so who ami I to judge? I can't typically see into the kitchen s of the places I eat. Maybe they all look that way.

John M.

Yelp
Great food. Great people. Good prices. The seasoned fries, burgers, and cold cheap beer are unbeatable.

Arlynn M.

Yelp
I pulled into Hood River thinking that finding a place to eat would be easy, not the case. I told Jesus to take the wheel and he parked is right outside of this dive bar. The food was top notch and the service was excellent. I had the Greek salad and a sandwich, both outstanding.

Sb J.

Yelp
One of the only things we could find open for dinner on a Tuesday-glad we found them! Great burger, awesome fries, and delightful beer. Will return next time passing through.... Server was excellent, too.

Karen C.

Yelp
What a gem! Highly recommend! Doesn't look like much from the outside but it is nice and clean. The food is amazing. Check out the menu! Delish and not what you'd expect. Better!

Jeffrey O.

Yelp
Very nice place. We headed here late one night because it was one of the few places that were open late at night. They had a great selection of different types of beers and we managed to pick out a few to take home with us. Great staff and attentive service, despite the late hour.

jenny m.

Yelp
Great food! Especially their Wedge Salad. They make their own garlic blue cheese dressing and freshly fried crispy bacon. I usually order it with a chicken breast which is cooked perfectly, tender and moist. My hubby loves their beer selection with a great burger and fries. The interior is nothing fancy but their food makes up for it. When we are in a Hood River we always stop by. Definitely would recommend!

Brad E.

Yelp
Because sometimes you need to eat a fantastic cheeseburger with the wild rumpus.... I had the bacon and blue burger. The burger patty was hand pressed and at least 6 ounces. It was both juicy and flavorful. The bacon was crispy thick cut bacon. But the best part was a bunch of blue cheese on top. We tried both the fries and tots. Both were well seasoned and delightfully crispy. The staff were fast, friendly, and helpful. No complaints! This is a great place to go for a delicious casual lunch.

Craig H.

Yelp
Drove up from portland to try them. Business was closed with no sign as to why and nothing on Yelp with any closure notice.

Kelly C.

Yelp
Great food, even better service! We had the Buffalo wings and scooby snacks to start and those were both super tasty. Then we got the MOSS burger, Trillium burger, chicken strips, garden burger, and spinach salad...everyone raves about their food the entire lunch. Both servers were super friendly and attentive even though we were a party of 7!! Definitely will be back!

Sharon M.

Yelp
I was pretty hungry when I landed in Hood River. After checking out my esteemed fellow Yelpers reviews, I decided to try The Trillum café. I had no trouble finding a seat and was quickly greeted when I walked in the door. For lunch I had fish & chips. It was my first experience having tuna deep-fried. Of course it was good. The tuna was thick and meaty - almost steak like in texture. The flavor was great- pronounced but not too fishy. The restaurant filled quickly and seemed to be a mix of locals and tourists. No concerns at all at this charming little café.

T C.

Yelp
Good pours, great music for a Weds. eve. Whole Lotta Love, Frankenstein?? Tried the Turkey Meister over Ham & Havarti, by recommendation as "seven times better" from our server. How could I not? Worked out well, was juicy and tasty on sourdough (although I was still pining for the marble rye.) Appreciated that our server sussed out my likes and aversions, offering a tasting of a chocolate stout. Just the right call, thanks! Have stopped a number of times before, and will be back again. Let the wild rumpus begin!

Mary S.

Yelp
One the absolute best burgers I have had! Great atmosphere. Wait staff was friendly and quick. Fries were to die for.

Yelp
Want to put it out there right from the get-go, in their defense, this review is based solely on the atmosphere of Trillium as I can`t speak for their menu (Read it, just didn`t partake). Girlfriend, I, and her mother planned a day in Hood River on Saturday and arrived hungry. We walk for a bit and keep looking for places to eat as we go along. We come across Trillium and look at their menu in the window. Trillium`s a severe greasy spoon joint which turns my stomach but my girlfriend and her mother don`t seem to mind. There are two bugs walking across the menu from inside which sets the mood for our experience. We go in and there are no tables available but a girl lets us know she`ll clear a spot once people leave. Two couples finish, leave, and leave behind a mess which is expected; what wasn`t expected was the girl not doing anything while we waited for her to clean the table; lapsed time was close to ten minutes. In her defense she let us know it was just her as they were short staffed and she came in on her day off. My heart goes out to her but she saw us a number of times and concentrated on other things that didn`t require her immediate attention (Two glasses on bar, talking to the cook for a bit of chit-chat; no, it wasn`t about an order, pausing to look out window, adjusting herself, walking back and forth from the front to the back for some reason but with nothing in return only to repeat examples three and four, etc.). Again, I wasn`t in her shoes so I don`t know what was going on, I can only speak as a would-have-been potential customer and what I experienced when I came in. After almost dipping our hands and elbows in said left behind gunk we decided enough was enough and left for other establishments other than Trillium. If you like greasy spoon places that serve tatter tots with almost every order and the rest of the menu comes off like middle school cafeteria food, then I`m sure you`ll enjoy Trillium; but if what I said doesn`t sound like your cup of tea then I`d pass and look for something more your sanitary/Appetizing//professional.

Yelp
The three of us had split pea soup, BLT and club sandwich. All three were excellent. Service was great. This place is a hidden gem.

Keisha M.

Yelp
Love the Trill. Great food and rad crew. The owners are the best. Perfect spot for tasty lunch or late night drinks.

Yelp
I would love to give this cafe a better review, after all, I understand that people have "one-off" nights every once in a while--and I actually enjoyed the ambiance and atmosphere just fine. However, I was surprised to be declined a beer by the bartender there last Saturday night at 12:30am for no real reason in my opinion. I literally did a double-take at my watch thinking maybe I misjudged the time and it was actually 1:30am and close to closing-time or something...it wasn't. I had driven down from Seattle to see a play nearby ("You Can't Take it With You" was awesome btw!), so I asked the bartender if his declination of service was something unique or new to Hood River or Oregon that I wasn't aware of. To which he replied, "Nope, we're just slow tonight so we're done serving." I was pretty surprised at that lack of work ethic and service. I was not intoxicated, rude, or unruly...just shocked! Like I said, I may not be completely aware of this establishment's protocols or management, and people have "one-off" nights sometimes, but if one of my employees stopped...working...at 12:30am when there were patrons ready-and-willing to sample your wares and pay for these services, I'd be pretty upset. Idk...maybe he owns the joint? Either way, the bartender wasn't rude (in fact he seemed like a nice enough guy), the decor was pretty chill and relaxed, and I would definitely give these guys another chance...I'd just maybe start there a little earlier in the night in case they decided to amputate service prematurely again. ~S P.S. Also both pinball machines were "out-of-service"...nooo!

Sara P.

Yelp
Really good food - awesome hand-cut fries. I'd describe the cafe as having a locals vibe. It is on the smaller side but we got a table immediately (Saturday lunch). Great service and the food came out fairly quickly. Our server did space our soup order so with a friendly reminder it was on our table in 2 seconds and was waived from our tab. We'll be back next time we're in Hood River!

Alicia N.

Yelp
Went here over the weekend and it was our first and last visit for a variety of reasons. Our group of 4 adults and 2 children picked this place because it looked interesting and somehow they score well (mostly) on Yelp. Also they advertise they have a kids menu. When we arrived our server was pleasant, but she informed us that they have a kids menu but didn't have any printed. That was inconvenient, but it worked out okay. The server didn't really know what beers they had, she admitted she only worked there once per week. She seemed off her game the entire time we were there and we had to ask for one of our drinks because she forgot it. The main reason I'm giving this place a 1 star is because once our food was brought out I immediately found a long curly hair in my food. We suspected the cook since he had a long beard and long hair, but he did not wearing a hairnet. Also, the bathroom is disgusting and there was water all over the floor, possibly from a leaking or broken pipe and the toilet looked like it hadn't been properly cleaned in a very long time. The food was average, but the sanitary conditions sealed the deal for us and we won't be going back.

Jonathan G.

Yelp
I'm sitting here after just finishing a rather delicious meal. The server hasn't been to my table in about 15 minutes, but that's no fault of hers. So I'm going to go ahead and write my review right now. Why she hasn't been here in 15 minutes? Well get to that in just one second. First, the food. I got the BBQ bacon cheeseburger with the hand cut fries, and a blackberry pear cider. Burger cooked perfectly, medium well. Cheese, onions, bacon all spot on. BBQ sauce was good as well. Fries were definitely hand cut, threw a little 'chup on top, a hit of salt, and I was a happy camper. Kudos to the guy on the grill (long beard, pony tail, backwards hat). Now, my server. I never actually got her name. The blond, with the tattoos and pony tail. She was probably better than could be expected considering she was running the entire place by herself. What does that mean? Well, at the moment, that means seven tables (most four tops), plus four patrons at the bar. So yeah, asking one single server to serve 25 people, plus bartend, plus run food? Not sure if someone called off, or if this is normal around here. All I know is, that's not fair to put any server in that spot, because her tips are gonna suffer, and people aren't gonna be thrilled with the scant service. For a touristy town, I'd expect better as staffing goes. Again, maybe this is just a weird day, in which case don't make too much of this review. Regardless, cool atmosphere, really good food, and fair prices. Worth a stop in HR, assuming it isn't too crowded and there's some more help.

Sally S.

Yelp
I should have known what to expect when music started at 10 pm at a cafe. It's really a bar where twenty something locals go to drink lots of beer, do shots (including jello), talk VERY loudly, and chant each other on (David! David! David!) while playing drinking games. They didn't care at all if there was live music...stood either right next to you, or in your view shed, and had loud conversations. And don't even get me going re all of them smoked. I'm more irritated at the owner who booked the gig. Why? Clearly this isn't what your clientele (sp?) wants. I'm sure the singer didn't enjoy any of it. Their fries were way, way, way too salty. Inedible. I guess they are trying to get you thirsty?

Hd R.

Yelp
Only one server for a full lunch crowd. The bread on both our sandwiches was more than toasted it was rock hard. No condiments on the sandwich or burger. Ordered bacon on the burger but it did not come with bacon. The server was too busy to get her attention until she brought the bill. Whoever owns the building is not maintaining it. The bathrooms were in bad shape.

Willard J.

Yelp
We stumbled in here with a group of 11 people and the one waitress could not have been more accommodating. We had seats and drinks in no time flat. The food was great here. The majority of the table went with bothers which turned out great. I had the Wrangler and I'd have another one in a heart beat. Overall the staff was super friendly, the food was great and the prices were on par!

Janna Z.

Yelp
This is a cute little bar/restaurant in the middle of downtown Hood River. The service was warm and friendly. Our server was attentive and patient. We ordered a hummus plate that was overflowing with pita, olives, tomatoes, cucumbers, feta chunk cheese and a generous serving of homemade hummus. We also had a BLT and tots to die for. A cold whisky and a beer and we were smiling, full and ready to wander the streets and shops around the cafe. We will be back!

Bearain K.

Yelp
I'm from out of town. Stopped in here after getting dejected from another local spot.... apparently their kitchen had already closed. Great beer. Got a pint of the local brew IPA it was delicious - everybodys brewing country boy IPA. I got the chicken burger, it was so delicious. It was made with love you get these explosive bits of the blue cheese then you get hints of the rub spice on the chicken and back and forth it's so good. The side of fries had the skins on and they tasted good with a splurt of tomato sauce. My other half got the mushroom burger but swapped out with chicken he said it was delicious and the swiss cheese was sticky icky gooey icky (in a good way). He got a side of tots that I sampled and were up to a fine standard. Great spot and would recommend for any out of towners

Alex B.

Yelp
My boyfriend and I were visiting from Portland, OR and we stopped in for lunch. I had one of the best French Dip sandwich I've ever had. I had the mixed greens salad with the vinaigrette and that was awesome as well. I will definitely be making the trip just for that sandwich in the near future. P.S. not the best picture...

Stephanie K.

Yelp
The staff here made us feel welcome! The food was delicious, & the drinks were strong! This place was recommended to us by a friend & we will be back soon!

Cassie B.

Yelp
Well this place is an absolute hidden gem. I don't know how many times we said our food was good. Service was fantastic, the local beer on tap was killer and I am so happy I found this place! I'll be back next time I visit my boyfriends family in OR.

Emma D.

Yelp
After our thoroughly frustrating experience at Bette's we headed to Trillium. Oh, what a difference. The staff were really chill, my turkey/havarti/roasted red peppers on rye was fantastic, the tots were probably the best I've ever had (and I have had a lot of tots) and even our kids were thrilled with their food, including the hand cut fries that my picky eater raved over. And before the meal we enjoyed one of their most brilliant features: a small closet of board games. Playing Chutes & Ladders made waiting for the meal a much more enjoyable way to pass the time. We're not often in Hood River but we'd definitely come here again!

Lily A.

Yelp
After visiting some waterfalls we decided to continue down the highway to explore. Somehow we ended up in Hood River. So random, but it was fun exploring this little town. We decided to eat at Trillium Cafe, the outside artwork of the sign really stood out, and lured us in! Glad we tried it though! The place was very original on the inside and had a nice vibe to it. The service was good and friendly. And the fish and chips I had with homemade tartar sauce was very delicious. The fish was crisp and tender, loved it. I wish I had enough appetite to try the tator-tots. Because those looked yummo! I can see this place being a fun night time spot because there is a bar and what looks like karaoke. If you are in town...give it a try. I enjoyed my meal!

Lauren J.

Yelp
I'm glad we followed our nose with the great trail of Yelp reviews. Two words: Cajun Tots. My Wrangler burger was smothered with cheese, grilled onions, and crisp bacon atop a hearty beef patty. Drinks were plentiful but oh those tots. If you don't order them, that's just silly.

Roman S.

Yelp
Trillium's menu has this: burgers, sandwiches, salads, some appetizers, and random things like mac and cheese, fish and chips and steak. this is a "3.5" joint but i have a hard time giving 4 *'s pricing is $8-13 for non-apps. cocktails here are extremely well priced. few beers on tap for about $4 ($1 off for HH on beer and wine) the burger i got was a bbq one.. it was really good.. it was also $11..ouch.. the fish and chips were like $13.. and came with 3 *small* pieces of tasty fish. Trillium has several booths and not too bad of an atmosphere..

Natasha B.

Yelp
From portland and always have a hard time finding good restaurants traveling. Been here a few times and the food is fantastic, moss burger is delish and boyfriend love his food as well. Generally good atmosphere and awesome bartender/waiter. Definitely recommend friends come here when passing by

Steve R.

Yelp
This seems to be a locals only establishment. Obviously, being on the main drag, I'm sure it pulls in its share of tourists though. But the few times I have been in, it was eerily quiet and seems like the regulars get the most attention. Very kid friendly for a place that looks like a dive bar. On one visit, one of the kids in the booth next to us, actually came and introduced herself, and sat down with us, and tried one of our fried green beans. She clearly thought it was a fry, and when she discovered the vegetable inside, she continued to eat the fried batter and left us the green bean. One of the cutest and yet oddest interactions I've seen at a restaurant. And that sums it up, right there! Quaint, modest, low key, affordable and kid friendly.

Brandon C.

Yelp
Well these people know how to hold it down when things get busy. Nate, our bartender, kept his cool and did well with a super busy lunch rush. We felt acknowledged and served well the while time. He handled our obscure drink orders just fine, even made sour on the fly for us The food was awesome. We had the fried green beans and a cheese burger. I could tell the patty was something else right off the bat. Turns out it was Olympic Provisions supplying the meat. Good stuff. For such an un assuming place, it was a great experience.

Lisa F.

Yelp
What a quaint restaurant on the most charming street of this picturesque town. On a trip leaving Portland to go home, we thought we'd stop for lunch in the town. We are so glad we did. As usual, we rely on the ratings to choose our lunch destination. This one piqued our interest. It was fairly slow when we came in but picked up by the time we were leaving. As one reviewer stated, this seems to be a one-man show as far as the front staff goes. It didn't slow our experience down, however. The bartender/greeter/server was able to handle all the guests in the restaurant. My husband ordered the French Dip. It was juicy and delicious. I opted for the small Spinach salad -- the pecans were toasted and sugared spot on; I also loved the dressing that accompanied it. I would certainly recommend this for anyone -- either stopping in or for a regular meal, as the lady at the bar seemed to be a local -- laughing away with the bartender. It seemed like a jovial place. Thanks for the memory and experience.
