I have stayed at this hotel previously and was looking forward to a return visit. We pulled up outside the hotel and was delighted to see one of my favourite hotels looking as fantastic as always.|We entered the hotel to check in and register our vehicles, I wish I could say we were welcomed but that would be untrue, we were grunted at and told where out rooms were. We didn't dare ask any questions as it wasn't a welcoming reception but we put it down to the fact that maybe it was because we were late (10pm) and she wanted to go home and we had delayed her.|Rooms were lovely and clean as always so no complaints there 10/10 for housekeeping.|We then went for a drink but only had the one because the atmosphere was very cold and again not welcoming, staff did not want to be there! |Breakfast the following morning was very disappointing, again we were not greeted but ordered to our seats. We were not told if it was table service or buffet and we barely had out bums on the seat when we heard tea or coffee... no good morning, no would you like tea or coffee... next came the juice.. again the same as the tea/coffee. I then asked one of my friends do you think this is table service when the same ignorant girl stood beside me and asked what we wanted to order. Not can I take your order please, just a bark. We asked for a few minutes to read through the menus and access the situation when we were again approached 3 times in less than 2 minutes to take our order. I don't think I have ever met such rude ignorant people in my life. I work with the public and I wouldn't have a job if I spoke to people the way we were spoken to. It costs nothing to be pleasant or to have manners. Upon receiving the breakfast, the poached eggs were swimming in water, and there was nothing amazing about the breakfast. We requested more pastries, and we never received them, it got to the stage we just wanted to leave. When we were walking out we passed 3 staff members who were just standing there chatting and not one of them said good bye or enjoy your day. We then had the pleasure of meeting the lovely Nadia and she was so upbeat and told us to enjoy our day and spared a minute of her time to be friendly (we really appreciated this) we had seen her with other guests in the breakfast room and were very jealous of the tables that had her as their server as she is fantastic at her job, other staff could learn a lot from her.|We returned after our busy day and I approached the receptionist to enquire about food in the bar that evening, she was very friendly and helpful we went straight to the restaurant instead of going upstairs as she said the kitchen would be closing in an hour, unfortunately I didn't see her name tag but again we appreciated a friendly face. We went straight down for food where we met a gentleman, he enquired if we had a booking to which I said no but we were residents, he paused for a bit and looked around as if there was no seating anywhere when there was plenty of empty tables. We were seated orders taken and food arrived, again staff were very cold and we felt in the way as if we shouldn't be there it was very uncomfortable and we didn't bother staying for dessert. Thankfully no issues with the food, the steaks were cooked to perfection.|We approached the counter to pay and were greeted with a smile and a warm hello by Killian, again he was so nice. He asked if everything was OK and im sure he was sorry he did. We off loading on him all of our problems regarding our stay and that the staff were so rude and we did not feel welcomed. We told him that himself and Nadia are fantastic and we appreciated their kindness. He apologised on behalf of everyone and said we shouldn't have been made feel that way. We also gave the names of the people who we had encountered. We left for our rooms that night feeling much better as someone had finally asked if everything was OK and took the time to listen.|Unfortunately we were awoken early at 6.30 by what sounded like the blue bottle bins been wheeled around outside in rhe carpork, I couldn't see out the window as we were on rhe 3rd floor and some windows have a restricted view, then came the noise outside the door and all the chatting outside our rooms. |We got up early had our showers ans headed for breakfast because there was no point relaxing in bed, God forbid someone would want to do that on a weekend away. The noise outside our door was rhe maintenance guys, there had been a water incident over night and they were outside our doors cutting holes in rhe ceiling. Maintenance guys were very nice and again so was rhe housekeeping who apologised to us for the noise ans seemed shocked that we weren't notified that this work was happening right outside our doors ( they had to move ladders, buckets, cloths etc for us to go in and out of our rooms). Breakfast was better this morning, there was a happy man greeted us and showed us the table, a very plesent girl came and took out order ans sorted out the drinks etc. Unfortunately she didn't have a name tag on so I can't give her any praise which she deserves. Breakfast was lovely this morning and even the chef was greeting people and the lovely Nadia was on duty again making sure everything was in order. Although breakfast was lovely it would be nice to have the continental on display for people to go up as they wish, but that is only a suggestion and probably a personal preference. |We used the pool in the nearby leisure centre theb returned to the hotel to check out. I was hoping to discuss our issues when checking out but sadly we weren't asked and everyone seemed under pressure trying to sort out the water disaster.|We loved this hotel and always looked forward to coming back but unfortunately this time round we left with a sour taste in our mouth and all that really left it down was the staff.
