I'm so glad we wandered in. The hostesses and the wait staff were very friendly. They helped the short wait that we had go that much quicker. I had the breakfast Cuban. It was delicious. My friend had the fried grouper sandwich. He said it was cooked just right. I will definitely visit again.

Google
Went there for a business meeting. We sat in a booth in the corner which was perfect choice of the hostess who was made aware of reasons for our visit that day. Our waiter was a sweet heart kind and courteous. The food… not one of us had any food in a take home container. Too good to leave on the plate.

Google
Sat down super quickly on a Sunday morning for a party of 2. Quick, easy and friendly service. Food was immaculate for a diner and portions were huge. Highly recommend their French toast and grits. This place seemed super packed but they get all their customers sat and ate in a timely manner. Great staff and good prices. Paid about 33$ not including tip for our meal

Google
Great, old American dinner right here! Wife found this place as we were headed to the Tampa zoo and hit the spot! The pancakes are massive! Glad we only did the “small” version! Incredible food!

Google
First time to Trip's. Sunday and Father's Day, no less! Already busy by 9am and they handled the crowd like champs.. Our server was great. Very attentive, refilled coffee, checked on us, and did it all with a smile. With as busy as it was, hats off to her. Wish I remembered her name. Food came out fairly quickly, delicious, and fairly priced. Overall, good diner experience.

Google
By far the best breakfast joint in Tampa. The Shrimp and Grits Ranked amongst the best I’ve eaten This is not some greasy spoon. If you’re looking for cheap, this is not that. But if you’re looking for good quality food perfectly Cooked and presented then this may be the right place for you.

Google
Great place to have a good old fashioned American meal. Especially the Meatloaf was very delicious. As we're from Europe, this was a positive experience. Our waitress was very friendly and helpfull. Felt very welcome.

Yelp
I've been here plenty of times over the years and the experience today was no different than any other experience I've had - a great one! Our server was Gretta - she was attentive and friendly. All of our orders came out correct (there were 6 of us). All the food that I had was delicious and everything everyone else had was no different. We received our food within 10-15 minutes of ordering--a bit longer than I usually like to wait, but by no means something to complain about, especially considering it was about as busy as it gets. I got the Meatloaf with 2 sides: Mashed Potatoes w/ Brown Gravy and Collard Greens and my drink was a Coke. My meal was just over $20 after tip, a fair price for the portions. Overall, always a great dining experience here. A decent sized place with the local diner feel. I've always loved the little pieces of history within each table (which can sort of be seen in my photo) in the form of old Tampa news articles, photos, maps, etc... I highly recommend to anyone looking for a casual breakfast, lunch or dinner!

Yelp
Everything but the chocolate chip pancake was great. It was only 3.99 so I guess I can't complain but it was dry and burnt. The service was very friendly and quick. It was slightly crowded but we only waited 5-10 minutes to be seated on a Sunday at noon.

Yelp
We went at 2pm on a Friday between Christmas and new years and asked to sit outside because we had our dog with us. When the hostess took us outside, every single table was empty and dirty. When I say dirty I don't mean they needed to be wiped down, I mean they were covered in half eaten food, dirty dishes, glasses, etc. It was clear they had the breakfast/lunch rush a couple hours before and just didn't bother to bus any of the tables. These tables had sat dirty like this for over an hour by how all the food looked. We were sat at the only table that didn't have dirty dishes (but did still need to be wiped down) and after waiting for our server for about 5 minutes we left because honestly the abandoned food and dirty dishes everywhere just smelled and kind of grossed us out. When the hostess sat us she did seem kind of embarrassed about the mess, but even after us sitting there for 5 minutes or so no one came to bus all the tables. I will say we had eaten here one time before and it was pretty good, but honestly they would have been written up by the health department if they were visited this day.

Yelp
When the parking lot AND the overflow parking is packed, you know it's got to be good! Worth the short wait for a table on a Saturday morning. The service was so good and friendly, the serving sizes large and the food, GREAT!

Yelp
5 stars because the food, environment & customer service is top notch on the beautiful Sunday that I went with my family. The service is always great, the food tasty and the dessert section is always filled with sweet and savory treats for before or after your meal! A Tampa staple. Every time I visit i want to go there first.

Yelp
Page, our server, was super great! Her menu descriptions and recommendations were spot on!!!!! The avocado toast was so very fresh and yummy!!!!! The Big Breakfast was really big and flavorful!!!!!! We'll be back!!!!!!
google avatar

Don M.

Yelp
Very friendly and efficient service on our first visit (but not good at all on our second visit). Clean without smelling like cleaner. Old fashioned tile floors for ambiance (see in pic). Comfy booths. One of the best Cobb Salads I have ever had. I also had half of a BST sandwich that had a hot, freshly fried green tomato on it, and it was amazing even though they forgot the bacon. The only thing not up to the standard of everything else was the coffee which tasted burnt on our first visit. The coffee was fresher on our second visit, but I was never offered a refill. If there is anything a diner should get consistently right, it's the coffee and coffee service.

Yelp
One of those places you might have nonchalantly missed, having driven right on by. For years. That'd be me. But, I put a stop to that nonsense on Tuesday! Made plans to meet my son and take him there for lunch. Inside, it is much larger than I'd imagined. Very roomy. Diner on steroids atmosphere. Nice sized menu. Definitely doable finding something to please your palate. My boy got breakfast basics. Eggs, hash browns etc with a luscious hollandaise sauce drizzled o'er it. His smile said it all. Yum. I got the Breakfast Cuban. As much as I love a traditional Cuban sandwich, I was pleasantly surprised at this variation on a theme. VERY nice bunch of flavors pressed into that crunch. Service was excellent! Kind and accommodating. And check out those chocolate chips while you're cashing out! We had a great trip!

Yelp
This is still one of my favorite staple restaurants to eat in Tampa. Went here for brunch with two friends who were first timers and they thoroughly enjoyed it as well. I had the chicken biscuits with a side of gravy, sliced tomatoes, and of course I had to get the grits. The cheese grits are probably my favorite menu item here and they taste better every time I visit. One of my friends had the shrimp and grits and the other had chicken and waffles. If you're debating going, stop, debating, and just visit.

Yelp
First time coming and it feels like a Bob Evan's. Just comfy haha The food was great! I got country fried steak with corn bread and fruit. Very interesting they search it with "garlic bread" which is just toast with garlic. Their corn bread had an unusual flavor also but good Our waitress was very kind. Amazing service and fast too.
google avatar

Scott M.

Yelp
Don't have any information on cost. I did enjoy the staff and menu. Not only was the server timely, it was pleasant. The overall vibe was positive also.
google avatar

Brian M.

Yelp
You'll love the cheese grits here. Even if you don't like grits, try em! I like the chicken and biscuits. Coffee is absolutely horrible and the sausage links are turkey, yuck but the other stuff makes up for it. My buddy ordered the egg sandwich and it looked so sad with one egg and one sausage patty it was disappointing but the managers response in the red shirt made it worse. Oh well. The loaded potatoes are great and the service is usually good. Definitely try this place but IMO get your coffee elsewhere..

Yelp
Came here today on the recommendation of a friend. As a few folks have said the outside is not very impressive and the parking is limited but once you get inside the place opens up with plenty of seats available. Once seated we were served quickly. Our meals were a decent portion and we ended up bringing some food home. My meal was ok but not amazing. The wife had biscuits and gravy with bacon. She really enjoyed hers and said she would get it again. Mine was the corned beef hash with eggs and toast. The corned beef was not my favorite so I probably would get something different on our next visit. The interior of the dinner looked exactly like an old school dinner and was clean. The service was great and yes I will come back sometime.

Yelp
The bacon is amazing!!!!!! Always conssitent good food and the staff is great. My go to breakfast spot!

Yelp
We went to our favorite spot for a late breakfast today. Saw our favorite people - Evette and Brittney. They are our favorite servers, as we usually sit at the bar. It's awesome to sit there and look at all the yummy food coming out of the window of the kitchen. Tim the Grits man was on duty and our grits were oh so yummy! They never disappoint! Highly recommend stopping in for breakfast or lunch! Any time, you're going to place it high on your list to come back to!

Yelp
I had heard good things about this place and had to try it for myself. It seems small from the outside, but it opens up and has many seating options for their patrons. I got to enjoy a comfortable booth. I chose the biscuit and gravy meal. It had one biscuit split in half and generously covered with sausage gravy with two eggs cooked to order, two thick cut slices of bacon and I chose the home fries for my side. This was a breakfast fit for a king or queen. It was more than I could eat in one setting, so I got to enjoy leftovers the next morning. The gravy was filled with sausage and the bacon was exceptional. Our server was friendly and attentive. I look forward to coming back and trying more yummy things here.

Yelp
This local diner is our go-to for breakfast! Been here multiple times and it's always just as good as the last. We love the fried chicken biscuit sandwiches with gravy and homestyle potatoes. The omelette and pancakes are also a must try. We always say come hungry and wear some stretchy pants because you'll be fed here for sure! Great spot for family visiting or any Sunday brunch!
google avatar

Yelp
I've driven past tips diner many times and never tried it but one Sunday I decided to. If you know restaurants in the Seminole heights area off north Florida Ave you know that parking can be tricky. Here there is ample parking by the restaurant and an overflow. Going in it looks like a traditional diner with modern updates so you can still have that nostalgic feel. They offer breakfast and lunch/dinner items. The staff was attentive and friendly. I ordered the French toast platter and it was as expected. Will definitely return!
google avatar

Lyric C.

Yelp
I've been on the hunt for some of Tampa's best diners and Trip's is going near the top. The first thing you need to do is make a game plan for parking. You may end up parking on a side street depending on the time of day. Once you go in, there are options for takeout, inside or outside seating, and a breakfast bar in the back. I opted to skip the wait and eat at the breakfast bar. Definitely plan on trying outside next time, maybe even some of the fat free lettuce if it's still available! I ordered one of their French toast breakfast combos and added a biscuit. The food was delicious. French toast was soft and not overtly sweet, but adding syrup transformed the flavors into sweeter bites. Eggs were pretty good, the bacon was ridiculous . It's pretty thick and had a great crunch while not being burnt. My server worked the bar and you could tell the restaurant was busy. It was kinda cool to see everyone working so well together to push out the orders. My food took less than 15 minutes and it seemed like they had a good system in place to handle the high influx of customers.

Yelp
This is probably the best diner in Tampa! Truly a local spot and superb wait staff. It feel homey and cozy the moment you set foot inside. Oh yes and they have an outside patio which is pet friendly . Huge plus for us! The food is fantastic! We have been here several times. I have ate the huge pancakes which is made from scratch pancake recipe. The biscuits with gravy are to die for!!! Omg soooo delicious! The lobster bisque is creamy and refined. Excellent quality of lobster bisque soup didn't expect that in a diner. The Cuban sandwich are top notch and give plenty t of competition to sandwich shops. The corn-beef hash is a homemade style recipe so savory. The cookies and the cakes are the go to after such a great meal!
google avatar

Jonathan H.

Yelp
The quality of food for the money, particularly their steak is hard to beat in Tampa. Yes, good steak ar a diner is possible and for under $20. The coffee is excellent and loved my omelet. At times the service can be off, but overall they are fast and consistent. It's a neighborhood gem, that hopefully will continue to provide great value for years to come.

Yelp
The food here was pretty good but our server was a little much. Throughout the whole meal, She only came up to our table from the wall side, poking her head and leaning over the top. It was a lot. We asked her for her opinion of different dishes and the first few she said were not that good - like well damn, okay ? We both ended up going with the safest option, the French toast and egg breakfast for me and the ham and cheese for my friend. I did really want to try the shrimp and grits and when i saw several orders of them being delivered to other tables looking delicious and was a little annoyed but my breakfast was still yummy. I won't say her name here but i usually never regret asking about recommendations. Next time I'll try the shrimp!

Yelp
Another disappointment! So, I said I wouldn't come back, buttttt, I did, and would you believe we had the same experience with service? Sat outside, no acknowledgement for at least 15 minutes...even if you're not my server, wouldn't you notice that there are no drinks/utensils, nothing on the table and you've looked at us all three times you came to tend to your assigned table? Anyway, food was horrible, all three meals were cold, the kid's pancake was probably from yesterday and I asked for it plain, but it came loaded with powdered sugar. The steak bowl was overcooked and cold, the hollandaise sauce was clumpy and awful. It's been about 15 minutes, and I already feel nauseated. The server doesn't prepare the food, but he should've noticed how long it sat out and that the plates weren't even warm. I'm not a hater so I didn't warn anyone else on the patio, but sorry to them.

Adams C.

Yelp
What can I say other than amazing again! Try the lobster bisque omg if you like cherry!!!
google avatar

Denise W.

Yelp
Definitely will be back here it's my new favorite spot after Sunday church service. You can have breakfast, brunch, lunch or dinner walking in here. I'm so sorry my pictures got deleted so I will be back again to show them off but for now please know this is definitely worth a Trip!! Get it Trips Dinner lol

Yelp
Had to wait about 15 minutes which was good for a Sunday am! Staff were very kind. I wasn't too impressed with the food- everyone's eggs seemed to be under cooked. Also saw a server sneeze without covering their nose. Ambiance was good- all different types of people. Servers were on top of coffee refills and taking orders.

Yelp
First time trying Trip's Diner. Pros: Amazing menu. They have the typical diner choices and more. Service was great. Joshua helped me decide which was the most popular soup option: Lobster Bisque. He took our orders when we were ready and delivered our food quickly while they were still hot. He asked us how it was, thanked us and told us to come back. He even recommended his favorite the chicken & biscuits for next time. Everything we ordered was excellent! We didn't have room for dessert. Cons: *minor* the a/c wasn't working very well. Must have stopped working soon after we arrived because it got hotter. We did receive a broken glass, but didn't realize until after the meal. - No biggies about either, we WILL be back. We want to try other items off the menu, but it will be hard for me to stray away from the BST & soup again.
google avatar

Teriann C.

Yelp
This is a regular favorite spot of ours! The service is always excellent, they are quick but friendly and there's always hot coffee in your cup. Their grits are the best I've had in Tampa so far, their burgers are perfectly seasoned and cooked, and the biscuits are fluffy. The restaurant is always clean despite being busy and I've never met an unfriendly employee.
google avatar

Cindy G.

Yelp
Shrimp and Grits are to die for!! These are the creamiest grits I've eaten since my grandma made them. So cravable I'll be back often! MUST TRY THIS AMAZING FAMILY OWNED BUSINESS!
google avatar

Elle E.

Yelp
Perfect old school diner! Sit at the bar and you'll be amazed watching the kitchen pump out dishes so quickly.

Mike S.

Yelp
Was really excited to try trips as I've heard such great things but they sat us out on the patio and we waited for about 30 minutes with no one taking even our drink order so we got up and left. Sad first impression but hopefully it's better if we ever decide to come back again to try this place.

Yelp
Very nice restaurant. All the food looed great except the large hubcap pancake. It was.dry and tasteless.could have been done more in the middle. Outhe breakfasts looked really good. Husband had French toast that was really tasty.Handy place to go not far from airport.coffee was.good too.

Yelp
Trip's Diner is a clean, bright restaurant with all day breakfast and a big lunch menu. I ordered my preferred breakfast of 2 scrambled eggs and wheat toast, and added grits because they're so rarely on menus in upstate NY! My meal was delicious. Big fluffy toast, creamy (but not watery) grits, and perfect eggs. Let's talk about how affordable this meal was. My breakfast and coffee were only $10.73 altogether. Trip's has a large parking lot, lots of seating, and friendly staff. My food came out fast, and my server Jasmine was on top of coffee refills, water, napkins, and whatever else I needed. My table had a cute collage of vintage Florida maps and postcards. I can't think of one negative thing to say about this place - it was fantastic!

Jeff W.

Yelp
Trip's Diner is a solid place for breakfast or sandwiches. I've had standard breakfast fair there and most recently had 1/2 pound burger with fries. The fries were just the way I like him... Crispy, and the burger was very good as well. I'm not sure what I'll get next time, but I'm definitely going back.
google avatar

Yelp
The food here is just delicious very tasty comforting classic homemade recipes can't have enough! Been a customer for over a year now ! And it is consistently good! Club sandwich and lobster bisque today totally delicious! My husband had a huge Cobb salad full of very fresh and high quality vegetables. Outstanding customer service! Very nice during weekdays for lunch and breakfast. Very nice inside area spacious very clean . Outdoor deck wonderful too. We love coming here ! Such a great experience always .

Yelp
Gluten free bread available! Delicious grits too! We are visiting town from Brooklyn for work, I found this place searching online. I was so pleasantly surprised to find a classic diner/local restaurant with gluten-free bread. They were really kind and asked if I had an allergy or just a preference. All the food was great, I got a Reuben on gluten-free bread, my child got a kids meal for seven bucks. And my mom and grandma said their food was good too. They've got a parking lot on both sides of the building, and a nice clean restroom. We came back again on our way to the airport to get a nice, priced right, meal. :)

Yelp
I came to visit my brother in Florida and he took me and my partner to North Trip's Diner for lunch. I will try to make this short and brief. But that might be impossible. I hope the manager takes the time to read this. I work as a manager at a French Bistro here in Brooklyn NY.Here are just some of my responsibilities: 1. Making sure the staff is wearing clean clothing. ( Don't look like you just rolled out of bed). 2. Tables should be cleaned with a washcloth and disinfectant. (Nothing worse then finding dried food at your table after being seated.) 3. Floor should be kept swept before being seated. ( no one wants to find the previous parties leftovers on the floor) 4. Please be sure that place settings are clean. 5. Wipe down every menu before use. Maybe the Restaurant was understaffed that day or just very busy. Honestly, as I sat there , waiting for service , I could not order a meal there. I had a cup of tea , but had to return it because it had lipstick on it. The one thing positive, was the young woman who was working so hard to wipe down the tables and keep some sort of order in the midst of chaos. ( the reason for the two stars). As we left the restaurant I saw her inside cleaning more tables. I walked over to her and handed her $10.00 happily. What an employee !!!!

Yelp
The service was good. The food was great. The ambiance was casual and nice. I had breakfast at lunch. I will be back when I am in the area again.
google avatar

Yelp
Very busy popular restaurant. It wasn't a long wait even though they are so busy. It takes forever to find parking. Nice and clean. The server was right there when we needed her. Keeping our coffee and tea filled. The food is very good. My husband and I had lunch while my nephew had breakfast. I had grilled chicken with vegetables and it was delicious. My husband had a hamburger and fries and loved it. It was cooked to his perfection. My nephew had egg, toast, bacon, potatoes, and grits. If you're in the area or visiting this is a must try diner.

Yelp
If you're looking for some delicious authentic diner, food, this is your spot. Tripp diner is located in Seminole Heights. I've been coming here for years and Im always satisfied. The food is always on point and the service as well. They tend to get very busy, but that's never been an issue when it come to quality and promptness of the food. Everyone treats you like a local whether you're one or not. The prices are great the portions as well. Trips A diner's gives off a warm and inviting atmosphere, with cozy booths! The nostalgic charm this diner has, along with the delicious scent of comfort food, creates a laid-back setting where people can enjoy hearty meals in a chill environment. I will continue coming here especially if I'm in the neighborhood.
google avatar

Yelp
The service here is great. Skyler was amazing.. she is bright and cheerful and on point with service. She double checked everything in our order and made sure to wish us happy holidays. What a pleasure to come to a dinner that has such reliable service and food. The egg benedict's are always amazing.
google avatar

Pam H.

Yelp
Outside looks super cute, when waking in you have a choice to sit inside or out.The inside feels like a freezer so we chose to sit outside. The menu is fairly large but they don't have skillets. Bummer ! Ordered 2 eggs but the food came out cold. Probably because it was sitting at the window forever. Overall for a diner this is a cute place just hate that my food wasn't to my liking or temperature.
google avatar

Jeffrey B.

Yelp
Just what I needed to start my day. Fantastic is an understatement. Great service. Cool atmosphere. Highly recommend
google avatar

Yelp
What a great diner. We had the best waitress. The corned beef hash was delicious. The diner was packed. Will definitely go back again.
google avatar

Michelle T.

Yelp
Stop in for brunch with my daughter and had hard time deciding so many options and even though there were very busy our wait was 10 min on a Sunday. The crowd does mean good food and they didn't disappoint. There is a classic stainless steel diner top at one end of the restaurant as well as booths and table tops inside and a lot more tables outside to eat. I ordered crab eggs Benedict but added fried green tomatoes and it was amazing! My daughter ordered the shrimp and grits and also loved it. Definitely a favorite pl
google avatar

Crystal S.

Yelp
Great service! Great food! Great prices! The country fried steak was really good! My son loved his huge pancake and thick cut bacon. (It was his birthday breakfast) My husband liked his steak and mushroom omlete, but he it was a little bland and had alot of mushrooms. Will definitely be back!

Yelp
Wonderful service Cute clean Really inexpensive Huge portions Avocado toast fab Shrimp and grits delicious

Yelp
A great breakfast stop, we had great service and the food was also excellent. The upside is they have a large parking lot so you don't have to search for parking.

Yelp
Very good food. I used to go here all the time when I was younger, even though I haven't eaten at Trip's Diner in forever. I can still feel the taste of good food on my mouth. Also friendly waiters and good service. The whole vibe the inside gives off is very old timey.
