This Booking.com featured accommodation is superficially attractive. Just off the road, above a good restaurant in same management and with great sea views. |We were going to reserve via Booking.com but owner suggested direct booking. We arrived for a 3 night stay and were surprised we owner did not want to see our passports. |The apartment is attractive and clean but missing key items e.g. loungers on balcony, kettle etc. and strong drain smell. |1st night ok until hot water started flooding through ceiling and flooding floors of apartment. |Owner checked next morning, tank in loft broken, new one required. So, no hot water, a damp smelling apartment and a ladder and open loft hatch in the bedroom. Plus, constant comings and goings of staff and owner to try and stop water and mop up.|As it was a Sunday, owner said new tank couldn't be fitted until Monday morning. He promised it would be fitted at 1100 Monday. |We had to use communal boating showers some distance away and with faulty water & heating flow depending on useage. It was like camping. |Next day we'd hired a rib for the day from the owner, cost 200 euros plus fuel. When we arrived to board rib, it was missing from dock and not available until 1100 as owner was using it. |At the end of the day we returned to our apartment, hot, sweaty and tired - still no hot water. Owner said new part arrived late and he was too busy to fit it. We were told to use communal showers but there were 48 to 60 boat users also using the 2 showers. |As we were leaving early next day, we settled our bill. We'd expected to be offered some compensation for no hot water, mess and inconvenience. Nothing was offered, not even a meal in the restaurant or a bottle of wine. We requested a discount, always uncomfortable to ask, and the owner lost his temper. Threats that should not be rude, we were on a small island with a close knit community so we should watch our step to be safe. Threats to throw us out of the apartment. The owner is a large intimidating man. This was in front of a busy restaurant. When we tried to settle our bill, he wouldn't take a card and demanded cash. We had already paid for our dinner by card. |An awful experience. We had already planned to return to Lastovo for 2 weeks in 2026 but the Triton experience has discouraged us from supporting tourism on this beautiful island. We recommend avoiding this owner with an appalling attitude and the average but costly accommodation.
