On the Grid : The Trocadera

"If you were a teen in the late 90’s you’ll understand the nostalgia surrounding the Troc. It was and still is the best place to see your favorite band. It has a long history including being an opera house to start and a burlesque venue for a period. Now it hosts dance parties, movies, and comedy nights along with its usual shows." - True Hand Society

I had the pleasure of seeing brain damage a Pink Floyd tribute band. It was a great way to spend a Cinco de Mayo. I have to say the band was that on and I can't wait to see them again! It had a great Vibe and an awesome atmosphere! I'll definitely return!

First time at the Troc. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves! The show was great (we saw The Dead South) the building's architecture is old and wonderful. There upstairs bartender was on point. Will go again.

Saw Lacuna Coil and Epica in concert. This was my first time at the Troc and I was very impressed with the place. Staff were super friendly and lots of space even with a good size crowd. Also great sound!

Great venue for concerts. Easy to get closer up and still be able to see. Nice balcony area as well.

I recently just visited this place for the first time for a Monday night band; Of Mice and Men. You can't miss the place driving through normal traffic or even walking by, the sign is very well lit and visible, plus you can hear the live music playing from out on the streets. Walking in you're greeted by staff with great customer service and direct you into the right direction. Now my only complaint about this place, when you walk in a little further past the box office, there's the men's and women's bathroom to your right and left hand side, so right away it just smells like bathroom, almost like a portapotty (spell check me lol); other than that the place offers a small but good bar, some food as in pizza, pretzels, hot dogs, and even non-alcoholic beverages. Floor space is roomy even with a good size crowd, they do have a balcony section as well but I'm not sure if you have to pay extra for that. I'd do five stars but again, that bathroom smell is what got to me because even being on the floor, when the doors from the outside are opened, it pushes the smell into the concert area.

I don't generally write reviews but... I was there to see John Carpenter. I've worked in a professional theater since I was 16. This building is unsafe. People were crammed in like sardines, they oversold. Some of the staff were great, others were really rude. We tried to get a refund but were informed they didn't have a policy, even when they oversell to the point of people being unable to fit into the theater. The house manager had someone from security escort/push through the crowd to get us to the front of house right since it was the only place there was any extra space. Their stage lighting is hung on wood beams... I do overhire work for lighting and I've never seen anything like it. It's a fire hazard. And the guy running the lighting board didn't know what a grid was when I asked when it was last updated. It was incredibly alarming and you couldn't pay me to enter the building again. I was going to go see Bianca del Rio there but... Nope. I've never feared for my safety in a building before. I'm not from Pennsylvania so maybe the laws are different but in NYC or NJ, this building would not pass the fire inspection.

Small theatre but very nice. I enjoyed my show greatly and they have a bar too.
