Google
My #1 go to motel whenever I am on the Oregon coast! VERY friendly, amazing amenities when it comes to dishes, pots and pans, bathroom essentials beyond what you normally would receive! Such a warm, cozy and quaint environment. They are HIGHLY recommended !

Google
Great rooms for the price point. Walking distance to Depoe Bay. Have stayed here at least 5 times. Never a disappointment. Great place for that fresh ocean air & a get-away for the weekend. There is a couple that lives onsite to call on if anything comes up. Very cordial and nice couple. Definitely be coming back here time & time again without hesitation. Definitely two thumbs 👍 👍 up ! ! !

We booked here after the state park nearby was closed due to construction. I’m so glad we did! Our room was clean, safe, comfortable, and welcoming. We enjoyed our stay very much. The caretakers were very friendly. Beautiful sunset with a seagull also enjoying the view on top of the house across the street!

Google
What an odd but charming place to stay. Depoe Bay is close enough to walk to, which was great. The rooms are very small but very clean. Walls are a little thin and the parking is tight. We got there at check in and for hours no one in the units next to us had shown up so we figured we had the building to ourselves... At 11pm they finally checked in, who does that? There is no view of the ocean, they chose update the listing to reflect that.

Google
Clean, peaceful, and comfortable place to stay. They had toiletries and extras that aren't available at most places. Even had microwave popcorn in the kitchen, which made my daughter very happy! Parking spots were a little tight, but we made do. Would definitely stay here again.

Google
Pleasantly surprised! This is an older motel that is run as a vacation rental. We stayed in Troller #11. It is a smaller unit but we didn’t mind because really, we only needed a place to sleep and shower. Usually older motels, especially near the ocean, can smell musty or moldy. This place was super clean! Even under the bed (I always check)! Bed was comfy, linens were nice and soft. We really appreciated how dog friendly they were also! We will definitely stay here again!

Google
Rooms are clean and welcoming, but TINY. The bathroom is positively claustrophobic. Bed is nice, but the "ocean view" was a bit laughable. You get a few slivers of ocean between the houses and trees, but nothing like we expected. All in all, it was ok, but not what we'd hoped for.

We absolutely loved our stay. It was clean, quiet, cozy and safe. Everything we needed and a great location. Bill and Diane were great and very welcoming. They loved our dog Rio and made him feel at home. We definitely will book here again. We hate to leave our unit T3. Thank you for making our vacation extra special. Lissa, Barb and Rio ,

Yelp
I was a Neskowin/Lincoln City gal prior to this visit, but now think I'll become a Trollers Lodge in Depoe Bay gal. I travel almost six hours to come to the beach once a year or so. The unit was very clean, served my adult daughter, both our dogs, and I very well. The main bed was comfortable, and my daughter slept on a twin hide-a-bed in the living room which seemed comfortable enough (she did wish there weren't so many lights on outside at night, but that's a safety thing I'm sure). The owners were VERY responsive and after we left and I mentioned that I wish such-and-such, she said all I had needed to do was ask and they would have served that need. Wonderful! And affordable to boot -- I super appreciated, as another reviewer said, that they have a reasonable one-time pet fee, not per animal per night like many other places. Depoe Bay is a sweet little community on its own and isn't far from either Newport or Lincoln City. I saw whales at nearby Rocky Creek State Scenic Viewpoint (to the south), and daughter/dogs/I frequented the Fogarty Creek State Recreation Area (to the north). Will definitely try and come again.

Yelp
Super cute and cozy! Owners were very fast at communicating, and gave great suggestions on food and activities. We wish we could have stayed longer, but will definitely be coming back soon!

Yelp
My husband and I decided to road trip from Boise to the Oregon Coast on a whim. We hunted AirBnb for a clean, well stocked room that wasn't too over budget. We got lucky and came across Troller's Lodge. Great accommodations, it really is a bang for your buck! Troller's Lodge is located right off Highway 101 towards the south end of Depoe Bay. There are several rooms to choose from depending on what your needs are (i.e. kitchen, extra living area, pet-friendly). We chose one of the larger rooms for only $106 a night. Amazingly, it was only an additional $22 for my pups to come join the fun. I appreciated this so much as all other places wanted to charge that much per dog PER NIGHT. Yikes. Thanks for allowing people who travel in a budget the ability to have their best friends without breaking my bank! Couple things to note - this place is not beachfront but you still get a decent view of the ocean if you're in rooms 7 through 12. There is no DVD player provided however there is a vast channel selection with many running popular movies and shows all day. We were provided small toiletries in our bathroom (shower stuffs, shaving cream, razor, toothbrush). It's about a 5 minute walk from the Smallest Harbor in the World, the beachfront shops and a gorgeous viewing area where you can watch whales nearly all times of the year. I would 10/10 recommend this place to any passerby, or anyone spending a day or two in this adorable coastal gem of a town. Thanks to the owners for everything!

Yelp
Adequate housing for a night. Cons: Small space. No dresser or closet. Policies were inconsistent between emails and written material in room. Non responsive to messages. No flexibility on check out times. Pros: Clean. Quiet. Dog friendly. Small outdoor space was nice. Contactless checkin with electronic lock codes. Good location (we specifically wanted to walk to the whale tours and could have also walked to all the restaurants and shops easily.)

Yelp
We loved our stay. Clean and tidy rooms. Great location right near the beach and everything a 5-10 min walk away. We will be back!

Yelp
I grew up on the Oregon Coast in the 1950s, 60s, and 70s. And even today, I remember noticing these buildings on a slight hill above Highway 101. This summer, we wanted reasonably-price lodging in Newport, and even motels off the beach were $269 and higher on the weekend we needed. Trollers Lodge was substantially lower price and nicer amenities. We could peek at the Pacific and hear the bouy as it rode the swells. And quickly walk to the bridge to see sea lions below and whales spouting just offshore. And walk to many restaurants. The bed was excellent, excellent coffee maker, complimentary high-quality popcorn for the microwave, and beautiful furnishing and art. Spotless. Looking forward to visiting during winter storms for a working vacation. Also, my 95-year old Mom appreciated we could park close to our front door, only one step up to the porch, and beautiful flowers along the path. Finally, both staff who took reservations and also who were restocking towels and cleaning rooms were friendly and appropriate. Wish I could give more stars.

Yelp
Nice, mid-priced, clean room. #8 doesn't really have a view of the ocean, though. Still, good people and and a quiet spot.

Angela H.

Yelp
Very peaceful location. The neighborhood is quiet and the ocean is just across the street so the waves will lull you to sleep. The buildings are clearly older but the rooms have been updated and decorated really well so the whole effect is charming and cozy. Artwork and photos on the walls are eye catching and not the usual boring motel fare. The heater worked great, hot water and pressure in the shower, more than enough towels and linens, and the little kitchen has the basics. Although small, the rooms are very comfortable and furniture is clean - the recliner was perfect for one member of our party with bad knees. Just be aware if you plan on using the pull-out bed you will need to engage your Tetris skills (some furniture rearranging is required).

Yelp
This is the fourth time I have stayed here and the rooms are even better and cuter than ever . Quilted beds , fridge , microwave , gas outdoor grill all for $67.00 a night and very quiet. Super clean in the room and the grounds are pristine . Dogs get free dog bones as a welcome package . It is not on the beach and Depoe Bay does not have a beach, but just up the road in a great beach.

Yelp
The rooms were clean and the staff was nice. We staid in two different rooms because we added a night to our stay during the busy season. Room 9: tight quarters, comfortable king sized bed. The bathroom felt like we were staying in a camper. Room 12: spacious apartment type space, lumpy queen sized bed. I wouldn't spend the extra money to stay in 12 again. We were in our room for less than 10hours a day, the view is inconsequential.

Yelp
I stay here every 3 months when I visit my sister that lives in Depoe Bay. The staff is friendly, room is clean and homey. I stay in cabin #12 or #6 because it's quiet...no noise from the road. There is a path to the ocean right across the road and you can hear the fog horn in the distance. Easy walk into town for shops and restaurants. I've always been happy with my stay.

Yelp
Our room faced the ocean side, though there is another row of buildings in front. Very clean with great attention to detail. Owners are on the spot and are friendly and nice. The wifi, alas, is not strong. It was very windy, cold and foggy, even in August, so don't count on sitting outside.

Yelp
I really enjoyed staying at Trollers Lodge; it's offers a great location, and a very comfortable stay. Trollers Lodge is located nearby the ocean and Downtown Depoe Bay, so it was very nice to wake up then walk to the center of town for breakfast and sightseeing. The rooms have a "cozy" feel to them --they are thoughtfully and warmly decorated such that you feel you're staying at someone's home home, not at a hotel. A very comfortable and relaxing place to stay while in the area of Depoe Bay, and also an excellent value.

Yelp
The immensely friendly owners seem to take great pride in keeping this cozy place comfortable; it's like staying with your family, except the rooms are immaculate. It's small and cozy with an abundance of crafty detail. This may not be for everyone if you're looking for high-tech, but it's perfect for relaxing ( hey, you're ON VACATION right? so act like it!) We especially like the little kitchenette, which were just large enough but not too much. We like the old dog at the office at the office, too! From the picnic table in the back, we watched whales spouting as we drank our coffee. It's an easy stroll to "downtown" Depoe Bay.

Yelp
Staying here a few nights. It has a very warm cozy feel. The bed was very comfortable. I stayed in a room with a half kitchen and it was functional and well stocked to be able to cook. The room and facility was very clean. The staff was all extremely helpful and kind. Spring, if you can, for a room with a view. It's worth it! Great value.

Yelp
Our family thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Troller's Lodge in Depoe Bay. There were two adults and three teenagers and our dogs. We slept comfortably in T01. It was great to have a full kitchen to make meals and relax. We took part in a fishing charter and whale watching and were not disappointed. The new owners, Bill & Peggy were very accommodating. Looking forward to our next visit already!

Yelp
Would definitely stay here again! Stayed here for only one night but it was cozy and comfortable. Great location and dog friendly to boot. Has suites with kitchenets as well. The Trollers Lodge folks also manage some of the beach front houses, maybe they can hook you up.

Yelp
I first discovered this home away from home when I was relocating the Oregon Coast back in 2001, I stayed there for a week with my 2 young boys. There was lots for them to do, and they had a friend in the dog that the owners have, they have a wonderful video library to use for free, and the kitchen was perfect size for us! I did find a job in Newport and left early not staying the entire week, because they were able to book my room for the 2 unused days I got a full refund so that was nice too. We are coming back to the coast and will stay there again...I can't wait!

Yelp
I have stayed at Trollers more than a few times while travelling up and down the Oregon Coast. It was recommended by a friend that lives nearby as she stayed there while their house was being built. Clean, comfy to the point of homey, quiet, just what I needed after a long, high-mileage day on my motorcycle. Rick and Peggy, the owners, are fabulous and extremely accomodating (especially when I book on short notice). I heartily recommend this to friends who are travelling through the area. You won't be disappointed.

Yelp
Terrible!!!! We had to wake the owners to get ice from their freezer. This is terrible. We will never stay here again. If you post on the wall to call a certain number for help, answer the phone.. Patrons shouldn't have to hunt down help!! Terrible place! Not even a one star!!!!!!!!

Yelp
super cute place to spend the night! Found it while road tripping up the coast with a friend, not super expensive and is really well kept. Great spot to see the sunset/rise and a short walk from food and other shops! Will definitely come here again if I find myself around the area.

Yelp
We've enjoyed many wonderful annual escapes from Portland to the "Gardner House" with the long term previous owners. Sadly.... even good chapters come to an end. The Garner House (downstairs 1 bedroom unit) was adequate and fun in it's threadbare imperfection. The new owners added a $80 increase per night - and when asked about any of these long postponed improvements, her reply was, " you can go somewhere else". For a $270 per night room rate per day in July, ... Madam, you just talked me into that. Too bad. Previously understood as being funky, raw and decades outdated - for a fair price, turned into funky, raw, outdated laughably overpriced. It's the first summer for the new foreign born owners, I hope they learn a bit over the course of 2017. Old dog new trick? Not impossible, really.

Yelp
"OCEAN VIEW" IS A LIE! When my husband called to make reservations, he was told there was an ocean view. There are signs ON THE OFFICE BUILDING stating "Ocean View!" The room we were given (#6) had a TEENSY "view" of the water IF we stood up to look out the window! I spoke to the woman in the office and told her that. She said their "other building" had "better views" and showed us #12. It was little better but bigger, so they "upgraded" us (we had to pay more, of course!). The "view" was better while standing and looking out the window but still it was just a fraction of scenery. Facing the ocean behind this place there is a road and a row of houses on the ocean front! THIS MOTEL IS NOT ON THE OCEAN FRONT AS THEY CLAIM!! Room #6 was laughably cramped and Room #12 had a VERY cramped bathroom and bedroom. Staying here in cold months with the heater on in the bathroom would be dangerous, since sitting on the toilet forces you to have your left leg right up against the heater! This place is old...possibly dating from the 1930s. Lovely hardwood floors but the ENTIRE room was canted at an obvious angle! For someone like me who has mobility issues, it was rather difficult just to walk across the living room to the kitchen without feeling like I might stumble and fall. Also, the floor made a weird noise when it was walked on; it sounded like thousands of little beads were being stepped on. DEFINITELY NOT ADA COMPLIANT, either! There are 1 or 2 steps up from the walkways to a buildings, and the walkways themselves are wooden planks which bounce alarmingly. The walkways in the grass are difficult to maneuver for someone with mobility issues because the ground is very uneven. This place IS pet-friendly, which is why it's not getting just one star. Room #12 has a separate bedroom but you have to go through the bedroom from the living room to get to the TEENSY-TINY bathroom (the shower stall is about the size of a phone booth and it's easy to whack your right arm on the pedestal sink when getting up from the toilet). That room also had a full kitchen complete with dishes, pots, etc. The decor is mostly thrift shop finds from the 1980s with a couple of really nice vintage pieces (the dresser/mirror in the bedroom I coveted!) but a concerted effort was made to make the place look homey. The woman in the office was overly chatty but tried to help about the room problem; she was just an employee, not the manager. If you want a room with a good view of the ocean AS ADVERTISED, go elsewhere! We're NEVER staying here again. I think, when all was said and done, we paid about $140 a night (for our 2 scheduled nights; Sunday & Monday), including the pet fee, for what amounted to a LOUSY "view" of the ocean and was a HUGE disappointment! What a rip-off!

Yelp
Sweet little place. Decorated in good taste, great bed and linens, excellent location, scrupulously clean, well-equipped kitchenette, priced right. It just doesn't need to be changed in any way at all. I stayed here two weekends in a row when I was apartment hunting in Lincoln City after I retired and decided to move to the coast. I live here now and have discovered that moving to my lifelong dream place has carried a real loss with it: I don't get to curl up and watch DVDs in adorable little motels like this anymore as I drive from beauty to beauty along the coastline. I just go home now. The answer may lie in declaring a vacation a couple times a year and making some reservations anyway.

Yelp
only stayed one night. room 6 which has a nice peekaboo view. Ver clean, well equipped kitchen. cute. nice furniture. Good layout doesn't feel cookie cutter. good price and good location. only reason we gave it 4 stars was the bed was hard. would be perfect with a foam topper. They also have a great selection of movies and books to borrow. I agree tidal raves is the best restaurant on the coast.

Yelp
Intense owner/proprietor will set the boundaries up front. Nice enough rooms and decent value. Fantastic view of the Ocean. Motel run like a Tight Ship!

Yelp
This is my second stay here, I am from Eastern Washington where the huge fires are raging and destroying whole towns. I escaped the heat and smoke . This place is so cute, homey. Comfy bed ! Close to walking to my favorite restaurant Tidal Raves, Seahawks Sandwich. Great choice of wines and the view .the owners are very friendly and very accomodating. I will always come back here !Price is great!

Yelp
The view and location were great. Unfortunately after paying upfront for two nights we discovered last night the room is mice infested. I called the owner who suggested I must have left the door open and let them in? Really! They won't refund for any part of the cost and said AFTER we leave they will exterminate! It would have been nice to at least been offered another room or compensate for the disgusting rodents. Bring a cat if you stay here!!

Yelp
Troller's Lodge was great! We stayed two nights in a small guest room which was really affordable and very clean. It is a great location, just a short walk away from the main street in Depoe Bay. The owners were very accommodating and helped us out with whatever we needed - they obviously know how to keep people coming back! My wife and I highly recommend this cozy spot for anyone travelling through or just wanting to relax for a few days!
