We stayed for one night after a camping trip at Trolltunga, and the hotel was a welcome haven after our trip! We booked a small double room, which as advertised was small, but had it's own bathroom with a good hot shower, comfortable bed, and a lovely view of the lake from the window. Only criticism of the room was only one electrical socket which was not best placed for easy use - an extension cord would have been useful. The breakfast was one of the best we had in Norway, especially enjoyed the pancakes. We ate dinner in the restaurant which was lovely, it had glass walls so you had lovely views of the lake whilst you ate. Food was very tasty. All the staff were friendly and helpful. Plenty of car parking. There is also a drying room available for your outdoor gear. Would definitely recommend.

I made a series of errors in my travel to Odda and arrived extremely late the night before my hike. The staff was incredibly kind and went way above and beyond for me to make sure I had a place to stay that night. Great location, it’s right next to the shuttle that takes you to the Trolltunga hike. Great breakfast to kick off your day too.

Pros|- Nice view of the lake if you are 2nd floor or above|- Free breakfast|- Trolltunga Active info session held in lobby of the hotel|- Free on-site parking|- Daily housekeeping|Cons|- Expensive for size of rooms|- No AC (need to open window for air)|- Extremely tiny bathroom||This is a 2 star hotel right on the lake. There are nice views from some of the rooms (if you are not on the 1st floor); however, the hotel is at the edge of town – it’s a 20 min walk through the commercial/residential area to get to the main town area – the marina where the restaurants are situated. It seems you are paying a premium just b/c there are limited hotels in the Odda area.||The hotel does have a restaurant where free bfast is offered and paid dinner option is avail. They also have a nice outdoor deck overlooking the lake. Hotel also offers free parking. The primary reason to stay at the hotel is b/c it is partnered with Trolltunga Active. If you are doing the Trolltunga hike/tour with them, the info session is held in the lobby of the hotel at 9 PM. ||The room themselves are small. We booked a Petit double bed. There is little space to walk around the bed but there is a big enough desk you can use to spread out your bag contents if you need to. There’s also enough space by the front door for you to keep your bag. The bathroom itself is extremely tiny. There’s only ever space for one person in there and water will roll out from under the shower door into the bathroom so I suggest using the floor towel right by the shower door to soak up the water. Unfortunately, it’s not a shower or room where you can relax in after a long Trolltunga hike, but enough to feel clean after the hike. ||The rooms also do not have AC, but do have a heating unit. You do have to open the window if you want air flow. That’s not a big deal unless you don’t like bugs. We do not like bugs and prefer to keep the windows closed, but it got too warm while we were there. We finally ended up opening the windows and using the curtains to over the windows. Luckily it did not seem like there are a lot of bugs though you might get a small fly or two (we found one in the bathroom). ||Also interesting is that many of the rooms had their hiking shoes placed outside in the hallway. Assuming that’s acceptable, it does give you a bit more room/cleanliness in the room as you don’t end up dragging that dirt into your small room. ||Also note that if you like to carry your own water bottle like us, it’s difficult to fill up water in the sink since the sink is so small. However, if you take your bottle down to the lobby, they will fill it up for you at the bar (as long as the lobby is open). |Unfortunately, there are not many options when staying in Odda for the Trolltunga hike.

I stayed in the Trolltunga Hotel with a few friends the first week in September 2024 (3 days and 3 nights). The hotel was situated right up to the banks of the Sandvevatnet lake and it was a very picturesque setting. Even though, it was rainy/foggy, it was the ideal "Norwegian" image in my mind. The room was perfectly fine for my use, though, I don't believe there was an available thermostat for the room (which didn't matter). The hotel itself seems to be a converted building/house that wasn't originally intended for a hotel, but it was very quaint and lovely. My only con would be that the hotel is somewhat difficult to get to from Odda bus station if you missed the Skyss bus times as it is an uphill walk that can be difficult with luggage. I would say the true star of the hotel would be the continental breakfast and restaurant. The food at this hotel is pretty amazing. My friends and I ate at the hotel for both breakfast and dinner throughout most of our entire stay and had almost the entire menu. If your visiting Odda to partake in some Norwegian adventures, I highly recommend these accommodations.

We stayed for 2 nights at the Trolltunga hotel. Supposed to be 1 night but booked another night last minute hence got 2 different rooms. ||The first night we were booked into a double plus (last room available). It was located on the ground level. Very clean, had a mountain view (top half of window) and half the glass was frosted so people cannot peep into our room. The hotel corridors felt like a dorm not a hotel. The rooms were clean and amenities are very basic. They have a hair dryer and for toiletries it is just 1 shower gel/shampoo dual purpose. Towels are provided. ||The second night we got shifted upstairs to a mountain & lake view, so enjoyed a much better view here. I loved the view outside the property, its nature 360 degrees! Sit anywhere around the small property n enjoy the great view. The breakfast was really good too. Fresh pancakes (loved it), cakes, etc. Would stay here again for the service, property view and bf!

The location of this hotel amazing. The view from my room was just perfect opening to a beautiful water lake and from the restaurant sitting area we had view of the streams running. The hotel staff was very friendly and courteous. Hotel is like 20min from main bus station and busses run on fixed timings. The room size is pretty standard but overall it was a nice stay. Would recommend.

Very kind & supportive staffs. Amazing breakfast and dinner! Room wasn't best but very cozy. Little too far away from Odda downtown, but walkable distance Trolltunga P2 shuttle stop at near hotel location.

The petite double rooms are pretty darn small for two people, the bed is a double bed and the comforter is quite hot. The bathroom is nice enough with a compact layout. Besides the bed there's just a kettle, a small desk, and a wall mounted TV in the room. The free breakfast is okay and doesn't seem to get too picked over like mentioned in other reviews. The wifi doesn't reach most if not all of the rooms and is quite slow in areas it does reach. The main area of town is about a mile or 1.5 kilometers walk on a gravel path following the river. Overall the hotel was fine and I don't mind it too much, it all just feels a bit small and low quality for what you pay for.

Yelp
We had a truly wonderful experience at the hotel and at the restaurant! We went in early October, a little after off season started though it was beautiful. The location is absolutely gorgeous, it is right by the water and we had a view out of the window. The room is small but very comfortable, and the heated floors In the bathroom were a great touch. They had recently renovated and added on, and it was very nice in the lobby and the patio. We used trolltunga active to do the hike, and it was so much fun! They were excellent. After the long hike, we ate dinner at the restaurant that night and it was absolutely delicious! We got local ciders from a neighboring town, and the pizza. So great! Would recommend to any and all!

Yelp
A fantastic place to stage your Trolltunga hike, just on the outskirts of Odda. From here, you're only a 25 minute drive from the trailhead. The hotel itself is very basic. You'll get your own private bathroom, but it will be bare bones, the bed was more like a cot and had very little support. However, the views are priceless. Every morning I would wake up to another worldly fjord with waterfalls. The restaurant food was amazingly great. The pumpkin soup was perfect, well spiced and stomach warming. The steak was cooked to a perfect medium well sauced and beautifully garnished. Overall, I would definitely recommend.

Yelp
Nice place, in now the Trolltunga hotel, staff were excellent, it's a bit pricy when you add in the 2k taxi ride to the town & back... There are cheaper options if you Look at the tourist info board downtown.

Yelp
BOOK THIS ONLY AS A LAST RESORT!! Their cancellation policy is way too strict! We booked for 6 months out because we thought that our options were limited. Our plans changed and now we realize that they charge you 1 night's stay if you cancel. It's hard to believe that any establishment will have such a strict policy 6 months out, during the height of their busy season, so close to a popular hike. I have learned my lesson and will never reserve something without a reasonable cancellation policy. There are other options in the area. Check out AirB&B before booking something here. Half the price and a 48 hour free cancellation policy.
