We stopped at the hotel for a coffee because of its beautiful location. When we saw kayaks available, we asked the friendly Brazilian staff member if we could rent them. She was warm, welcoming, and even allowed us to prepare breakfast there since the restaurant was closed, a kind gesture after a week of camping. We rented the kayaks for 750kr and spent several hours paddling on the lake. When we returned, tired and hungry, we began preparing a simple lunch. At that point, a Scandinavian-looking manager/owner came out visibly frustrated, waving her arms and pointing at our belongings. She told us to pack up and leave immediately, treating us more like unwelcome vagabonds than paying guests. We tried to explain that we had paid for the kayaks that morning and that her own staff had kindly welcomed us for breakfast. However, she refused any discussion and insisted we leave with our pot of boiling water and food across the street. She would not even allow us to finish in the parking lot. Overall, what began as a positive experience thanks to the kind staff and beautiful surroundings turned into a very unpleasant one due to the manager’s unnecessarily hostile attitude. It’s a shame, because the location has so much potential, but the energy and treatment we received from management left us with a very negative impression.

We were amazed to find that this hotel was so nice in such a remote location. The rooms were simple, but clean and comfortable. The common areas were a step up - a patio overlooking the lake and the rushing river, sofas with a fireplace, and wine, beers and ciders to cheer from the front desk. Cocktails could also be ordered.||The morning buffet had a lot of variety: eggs, potatoes, meats, cheeses, vegetables, etc. (see photos). In the evening, the restaurant turns into a lovely spot for a quiet dinner with floor to ceiling windows overlooking the water. The menu is limited, but excellent in quality (on the pricier side). Before and after hiking, we were glad we did not have to look elsewhere for meals. ||There is a washer available (fee), and the door stays locked by the front desk. I really appreciated that. You can also store your luggage. ||When you book at this hotel, they offer a ride up to Skjeggedal P2 in early season if you also book with Trolltunga Active for the hike. The owner gave us a ride up. His company is interested in preserving the environment around the Trolltunga trail, so they don't have their trail guests swim or wander far off the trails. I respect that.||It was an all-in-one stay that made our logistics easier, and I highly recommend the whole package.

We booked one night to do the Trolltunga hike. Enjoyed the feel that we were in a place with others looking for adventure. The room was small but on 2nd floor and great view of the river with sounds of the rapids. Great walk around the lake near by and our dinner was delicious and in beautiful new dining room. We were happy to find this hotel that was built in early 1900s but with some modern amenities. Great local cider served as well and staff we found very friendly.

Trolltunga Hotel A great spot before the tough hike to Trolltunga! The food is genuinely good — I recommend the tartare and the lamb. Apple juice was also surprisingly tasty. But the cleanliness… not great. Found hair in the bathroom, no shampoo. When I asked for cleaning and shampoo — the answer was: “Write to management.” Guys, that’s not how you treat guests. And then, after a trip to the store to buy shampoo myself, I go to take a shower — turn on the water, and it floods. The drain just doesn’t work. Seriously?

This is a lovely little hotel. We had a wonderful view of the river and mountains right from our room. The hotel is a little ways out of town so if you don't have transport the only food options would be the hotel restaurant. The staff - especially the lady at the front desk was very helpful with info about transport options. The breakfast was very good. The only reason I am giving 4 stars is because the bruschetta was really bad - very hard dry toast with some whole cherry tomatoes! For the price it was a rip off.

Was a little apprehensive staying here due to their overall review but was pleasantly surprised with this hotel! We stayed in a Plus room on the 2nd floor with views of the water. It's in the newer wing of the hotel so the room was modern and a bit more spacious than the photos. Lots of places to hang things and there was also a desk and 2 chairs. Views were impressive and you can open a window and hear the water rushing by. Restaurant has also been renovated and the breakfast was decent. Plenty of parking. Common areas are clean and cozy. Staff are all very friendly and helpful. It is a 5-min drive to town but convenient if you have a car but not as convenient if you don't.

Overall very happy with our stay! The breakfast was actually very very good. We tend to avoid hotels with breakfast as it seems like a waste of money but there were tons of options, all pretty good, and great views. Found ourselves looking forward to it at night :) Rooms of very small, don’t plan on spending time in them. But the showers have very good water pressure and hot water. Also beds were surprisingly comfortable compared to even nice hotels. Easy check in/out. No fridges in rooms but there a communal area with one and space for drying gear.

The Rooms were small but fine and the bathrooms were, despite the fact that they are puplic also clean but the rooms are very dirty (a lot of dust on the floor) and it smelled horrible everywhere!!! I opened the window as much as possible but the bad smell didn’t go away. I also want to talk about the towels in the bathroom which are always wet and probably rarely get changed. Overall it was not a great experience but I had far worse.

Yelp
We had a truly wonderful experience at the hotel and at the restaurant! We went in early October, a little after off season started though it was beautiful. The location is absolutely gorgeous, it is right by the water and we had a view out of the window. The room is small but very comfortable, and the heated floors In the bathroom were a great touch. They had recently renovated and added on, and it was very nice in the lobby and the patio. We used trolltunga active to do the hike, and it was so much fun! They were excellent. After the long hike, we ate dinner at the restaurant that night and it was absolutely delicious! We got local ciders from a neighboring town, and the pizza. So great! Would recommend to any and all!

Yelp
A fantastic place to stage your Trolltunga hike, just on the outskirts of Odda. From here, you're only a 25 minute drive from the trailhead. The hotel itself is very basic. You'll get your own private bathroom, but it will be bare bones, the bed was more like a cot and had very little support. However, the views are priceless. Every morning I would wake up to another worldly fjord with waterfalls. The restaurant food was amazingly great. The pumpkin soup was perfect, well spiced and stomach warming. The steak was cooked to a perfect medium well sauced and beautifully garnished. Overall, I would definitely recommend.

Yelp
Nice place, in now the Trolltunga hotel, staff were excellent, it's a bit pricy when you add in the 2k taxi ride to the town & back... There are cheaper options if you Look at the tourist info board downtown.

Yelp
BOOK THIS ONLY AS A LAST RESORT!! Their cancellation policy is way too strict! We booked for 6 months out because we thought that our options were limited. Our plans changed and now we realize that they charge you 1 night's stay if you cancel. It's hard to believe that any establishment will have such a strict policy 6 months out, during the height of their busy season, so close to a popular hike. I have learned my lesson and will never reserve something without a reasonable cancellation policy. There are other options in the area. Check out AirB&B before booking something here. Half the price and a 48 hour free cancellation policy.
