Impressive architecture for a public library. It is open long hours and provides a nice place to sit and read. There are impressive views of the harbor and sea from the top floor. It is just worth it to go inside for the views. There is a toilet available too.

This is seemingly the hot spot in town for families on weekends. The place was packed on Saturday - primarily with young families who were doing all kinds of kid activities in the downstairs area of the library. The first and second floors had lots of young people on their computers and the 3rd floor which is a "quiet zone" is worth visiting for the views of the town. I wouldn't say this is a must-visit but if you have time, it is worthwhile - and a good place to rest and get out of the weather if it is inclement.

A very nice library for both kids and adults. It is a 5 storey building with a lot of books and spaces were you can hangout whether to read a book, do some work or even just have conversations. Theres a lot of books to choose from and the glass walls make the place welcoming with a lot of natural light.

The library is built on 5 floors. Lots of books in different languages and a absolutely lovely place to study and rest. Kind staff are always helpful. The public hours are limited but if registered and filled out the form, from 07:00 to 22:00 is accessible. Free wifi is also available. The group floor is dedicated to children with books and computer games.

Lovely place to sit and read a book and relax! There’s a collection (although small) of English books on the second floor. There are charging points on all tables, and also a facility to get free drinking water and paid coffee on the ground floor, which is really great!

It is a wonderful library, perhaps with the best view in the world. There is a cafe and a movie theater. You can also rent sports and hiking equipment for free.

Yelp
Apologize for the short review but with my extensive traveling without a laptop; my usual system doesn't work for me. What beautiful architecture, see picture. Huge library with a small eating area. Coffee, soda, microwave & hand sink. Also 3 stories tall. Kids area. Fast wifi and clean bathrooms. Friendly employees and customers. We have discovered that libraries make a GREAT rest stop while traveling on a cruise ship. Thank you

Yelp
I've heard that the architecture of the library was well-known and that the building was constructed under the original roof of the old Fokus Cinema, so decided to make a deliberate stop here. I was abit bummed in the beginning as the exterior wasn't very impressive as what my tour guide had said. It did look pretty interesting for an exterior of a library though. The interior of the library looked very modern, clean and a little sparse; books were placed very neatly on shelves which were stacked quite wide apart. It gave the vibe of a university library instead and I was a little apprehensive that they might not allow pictures or foreigners to enter. Still, it was a quiet escape from all the shopping if you ever need a place to rest and reflect.

Yelp
A very Norwegian library Norwegians like weird things. Weird art, weird sculpture and weird buildings. Not really bizarre weird but pleasantly weird. And this library in Tromso reflects the Norwegian predilection for weird stuff. Looking at the library from the outside and you'll see a weird shape. Kind of reminds me of a Stegosaurs or some other weird dinosaur. Not anything really outlandish but definitely stands out. And the inside continues with the weird theme with staircases that kind of seem like they come out of nowhere and wiry sculpture thingies that hang from the ceiling. Lots of places to sit in the Tromso Bibliotek and lots of different seats for different butts. Many of the seats give great views out the huge windows. The library also has free wifi and computers available as well as the usual library stuff. Even has some very sweet and pleasant librarians. Not a spectacular library a but very, very cool place that is indeed pleasantly weird.

Yelp
Hands down one of my favorite libraries in the world. There's a ton of seating, free wifi, and the open space and lofted ceilings make it both a pleasure and a joy to lounge about for hours to escape the cold. Then there's the view. The entire front facade is open glass, and man is it GLORIOUS. When I think of Tromsø, my mind often returns to this view. I only wish it were open later!
