At Penang's Tropical Fruit Farm, the World Awaits - Atlas Obscura

"Because of its location, there may be a lot of mosquitos, so bring some repellent or pick up some nutmeg oil, said to keep mosquitoes away. Also, there are two kinds of tours—while both will take you through the farm and also give you an enzyme and honey tasting mini-tour at the end, one of them also gives you the option for a fruit platter and a smoothie, to be picked up at the end of the tour. " - Atlas Obscura

Really enjoyed the farm tour including fruit tasting, enzyme (fermented fruit) and honey tasting. Friendly staff. Cooler than coast and very scenic location. We stayed on the lovely open air covered deck and enjoyed the fruit and juice, then stayed for lunch and coffee. Highly recommend for a relaxing time. Got a Grab there and for the return trip.

Love the education farm tour our team choose the rm35 package. Duration around 1 hour guided farm tour around 30 minutes, fruit enzyme tasting, wild honey testing , fruit plate and fruit juice after the tour. You also can buy some fresh fruit and some local products. This farm also have their own products such as fruit enzyme, personal care and many more. Nice view also from the outside setting area. Article : Welcome to Penang Tropical Fruit Farm. We have South East Asia’s largest collection of fruits with an active area that spans a sprawling 25 acres located in the North West of Penang, Malaysia. With over 200 species of edible fruits identified, we aim to promote the amazing flora of Malaysia through education and information. Tropical Fruit Farm is situated about 800ft above sea level on the hilly terrains of Teluk Bahang in Penang. It is an ideal location for cultivating many types of tropical and sub-tropical fruit trees. The orchard was developed back in 1993 with a few objectives in mind. Firstly, to conserve rare and exotic fruit trees. Secondly, to educate and promote to the locals as well as foreigners of the gift that our land is blessed with. Lastly, to play a positive role towards agriculture and eco/agro tourism amid the intensive development in our state’s rural areas. Over the years, the orchard has acquired many rare and exotic fruit trees from the region as well as from far-flung corners of the globe such as Central and South America, Central Africa, India, the Middle East, the Caribbean, the Pacific Islands etc. Today the orchard boasts of a collection of over 200 different species and the list is still growing. The farm endeavours to use only organic fertilisers. Some of which are processed in the farm using fruit waste collected from around the farm. Chemicals are only used when absolutely necessary. In the farm, our aim is to work towards a cleaner environment for the future. Apart from viewing the fruits, you will be able to enjoy the varieties of fruits (minimum 15 types!) when you join one of our Guided Farm Tours. The orchard also prepares light snacks, juices and a specially prepared buffet spread for pre-booked groups. Credit article by Penang Tropical Fruit Farm.

Very nice tour guide can speak both fluent English and Cantonese. Good experience to know more about the tropical fruits and how to pick a good one! The fruits are really fresh and the foods taste good. Very unique flavour for the passion fruit spaghetti

They offer farm visit, retail shop, F&B in the same location. The viewing deck offers very good view of the surrounding mountain area. Fruit Rojak was so so only. The sauce was not tasteful enough. Cut fruits were fresh and they were charged by plate size. Eating at the viewing deck with windy condition was a very enjoyable experience. Crews were friendly and helpful in assisting the customers.

We were just passing thru' this area and stumbled upon this Fruit Farm. Due to time limitation we were not able to do the tour of the farm yet, but we will definitely come back for the tour of the farm. Worth checking out.

This place seemed pretty exciting during our research time before the trip to Penang. But after we arrive there, it was even better than I imagined! This one ended up being one of my favorite places to visit in Penang. One negative side was the transportation. Before coming here, I saw somewhere online there was a bus service to go there. But clearly not. If you don’t drive, you will need a Grab. And when you leave there, it will be difficult to find the way back to the city. Many Grabs won’t come, so you must arrange your own transportation. Just so you know before you go there. But I believe this place is worth a visit once for your stay in Penang! There are several tourist guides in the entrance and they are waiting for us to be ready for the trip around the farm. Once you registered yourself at the cashier, within 10 to 15 mins the tour starts. Our guide looks grumpy at first. But he was very kind, friendly, and knowledgeable guy. I enjoyed his tour very much. They drive you to the farm area and the tour was about 30 mins. They show you bunch of local fruits and history of the venue. It was very educational and fun to see a lot of crops. After the tour you are escorted to next agent who gives you free stuff. You can get free cut fruits you learned about, fresh juice, free fruits enzyme, and honey tasting. There is a small souvenir shop and dining area behind the building as well. People there were kind and caring. They even helped us to set up a taxi service to get off the hill. I enjoyed there a lot. Just wish the transportation issue would improve one day.

Great lady guide, she was very attentive to the little children in our group. Also very knowledgeable about fruits etc we were able to try all the fruits which was so lovely. Then taste some honey when back to start also enzyme tasting...strange taste of most of them but interesting to try. Only thing I would say is to book a taxi not via Grab as we found it hard to get a return via Grab. So ended up in paying for a taxi. Enjoyed though would certainly recommend staff so lovely.
