At Penang's Tropical Fruit Farm, the World Awaits - Atlas Obscura

"Because of its location, there may be a lot of mosquitos, so bring some repellent or pick up some nutmeg oil, said to keep mosquitoes away. Also, there are two kinds of tours—while both will take you through the farm and also give you an enzyme and honey tasting mini-tour at the end, one of them also gives you the option for a fruit platter and a smoothie, to be picked up at the end of the tour. " - Atlas Obscura

We planned to come here to try Malaysian durian, but it wasn’t durian season. They still had some durian from another city though (but in another farm), so that was nice. We got a couple of drinks and just enjoyed the peaceful nature around the farm. Then we found out there’s a 1-hour farm tour, so we joined — and it turned out to be a really fun experience! My boyfriend really liked it too. After the tour, they gave us two drinks and two plates of fruit, all included in the price. It’s a bit far from Georgetown, but totally worth the trip. 🌿🍍🥭

A hidden gem with spectacular views and a huge verity of fruits including all kinds of bananas apart from cavandish so great. Nice food and great fruit juices. There bi's more to the site than just the cafeteria though so feel free to explore. The route there is also very scenic whether comming in or going toward Batu Ferengi. A must experience really.

We had a lovely tour around the tropical fruit farm this lunch time. My partner and I had Danny as our guide and he was wonderful and full of knowledge of the plants and trees around the farm. He offered us lots of interesting insights and information as well as a few laughs along the way. We loved the enzyme and honey tasting and opted for the package which included a fruit juice and some fresh cut fruit. It was all perfect with a super view on offer. I would recommend hiring a Grab for 4 hours on the app to save trying to book one at the farm when leaving. This worked well for us and meant we could fully enjoy the Tropical Fruit Farm without the anxiety of Grab/signal issues. We look forward to our next visit which we will hopefully time to coincide with durian season ☺️

The Penang Tropical Fruit Farm was one of the highlights of my trip! 🌴🍍🍊 🍉 Variety of Fruits The farm is home to an incredible range of tropical fruits — from well-known favorites like mangoes, papayas, and pineapples to rare and exotic varieties you don’t often see elsewhere. It’s a real treat for anyone curious about tropical agriculture. 🚜 Guided Tour & Learning The guided tour was both fun and educational. The staff explained the history of the farm, cultivation methods, and even shared interesting facts about each fruit. It was a perfect mix of learning and exploring. 🥭 Tasting Experience The fruit-tasting session was the best part — fresh, sweet, and bursting with flavor. You really can’t get fruits any fresher than this. 🌿 Scenic & Relaxing The farm sits on a hillside with beautiful views of the surrounding greenery and the Andaman Sea. It’s peaceful, refreshing, and a great escape from the city. 🌟 Overall If you’re visiting Penang, the Tropical Fruit Farm is a must! It’s a unique, refreshing, and tasty experience for families, couples, and solo travelers alike. Highly recommended for anyone who loves nature, food, and learning something new.

A very interesting and educational fruit tour with an experienced guide who explained everything in detail and let us try many unique tropical fruits, especially miracle fruit. The tour took about 1.5 hours ,it was really worth it. Many of the fruits were ones I had never heard of or seen before which felt really fresh and exciting. The tour also included free tastings of enzymes and honey. The beetroot enzyme and kopi honey were the most unique and the best tasting. Coconut oil products are great, but the aloe vera soap was a bit drying for my skin. Highly recommended — just remember to bring an umbrella if visiting in the afternoon!

Bad experience to call grab to the farm, they all canceled the order suddenly. Finally I paid higher prices to the grab and asked for return trip too. He promised. However, when I got into the grab, he is asking for MR50/hour, if not, he stops my trip immediately. I just said i will pay the return free anyway and will think about the hour free. Luckily There is an oder for him to returncity, I don’tpay him. The farm tourist guy is very well experience and it is a small group 3 person only, so we have very details fruits tasting and explanations in the walk. A lots of farm news from the tourist guy. After the tour, I have 8 enzymes tasting, fruits and fruits juices too. It is a really good experience here. The farmer front desk is helping me to call the taxi from farm to Ferringhi walk bay in MR50 which is very helpful. Lovely place. P.S. Suggestions : if the farmers arrange shuttle bus (by 1/2 hour) to pick up from Ferringhi walk which to be more advantage and easier to the tourist.

Great tour. Would highly recommend for anyone from locals to tourists, solo travellers, couples and families. Really enjoyed the tour by Rana who was informative, friendly and charismatic. Got to try familiar fruits and ones not in our local grocery store. This review was not paid or requested for.

Tour was eye opening as we get to learn about fruits that we don’t see in markets. Eric was a good guide who made the effort to show us and let us try fruits during the tour. Besides the tour, there’s also enzyme and honey tasting, and a small fruit platter and fruit juice. A pickup truck will ferry visitors to one area of the farm where the tour took place and we get to walk around some fruit trees/ plants and learn about them. The same truck will ferry us back after the tour for the enzyme/ honey tasting. While interesting, I think it would be more meaningful to introduce us fruits that are also available for purchase from the farm. For example, we got to try lots of exotic fruits that nobody ever heard of, including something called egg fruit. After tasting it in the farm, I’m sure visitors would like to buy some to bring back to share with their families. Instead, we got to try different enzymes and honey, which while interesting, were pretty expensive. It’s unfortunate that while the experience is good, we did not manage to buy anything back, even though we would like to.
