If you are the kind of traveler that needs a basic place to stay because you spend most of your time away from your hotel, this is the place for you. Clean. Safe. Comfortable. If this is your first visit to Santo Domingo, you will find that outside the Zona Colonial, it's not a pedestrian-friendly city. Not that it is particularly dangerous, but the city is spread out and not designed for walking. That being said reliable taxis are cheap and plentiful. And this is where Mr. & Mrs, Sanchez come into the picture. You can travel far and wide and never find a nicer, more helpful proprietor of a hotel. He will call a taxi for you day or night. He knows what's open and what's not. He knows the best places to shop for groceries. We were there during hurricane Irma. We remained safe and dry because of all the hard work they did to prepare and maintain the facility. They have a diesel powered generator so we always had electricity. (The grid fails a dozen times a day in all weather.) They made sure the drains were not clogged so the balconies never flooded. We opted for A/C and enjoyed cool, comfortable nights every night. Situated a few blocks from the ocean, we had good breezes nearly every day. Fresh linens and towels every other day by request. If you're the kind of traveler who wants a clean, safe room with a private bathroom and a place to make your own coffee in the morning, this is just the place.
