Tropicana Hostel

4.5 We booked private tour and enjoyed the extra privacy. Reception and service were nice. Guides were friendly and the base camp had nice views Pros: Transportation to and from the volcano, and you also shower after the volcano hike. Cons: Shared bathroom and loud music at night

Everyone is super helpful and friendly here. Rooms have plug ins and the sheets create privacy. They have a pool that is very relaxing. And if you like social events I know on Mondays the bar crawl ends up here and it’s a vibe.

Pretty great place to stay. We had a private room but it was RIGHT by the pool and loud most of the day and night. Very affordable though and the rooftop is amazing. The good was hit or miss for us but the banana dessert was SO SO GOOD! Drinks were pretty cheap during happy hour! Definitely caters to younger folks but we also had fun there.

This hostel was awesome, from the views to the tours. The staff was great and friendly, the front desk was very helpful and the French bartender made great drinks! We took the acatanango tour from here and the the lady who organized it all was AMAZING, she made the start of Acatenango lively and fun. The guides on Acatenango were also great - Ezekiel & Josue!! Adding Fuego onto the hike was worth it for us, but it was definitely a difficult hike but Ezekiel set a great pace. 10/10 would stay here again for the shuttle, tours, and the very nice staff!

We really enjoyed our stay! Everything was clean and the pool was amazing. We also did the acatenango with them and it was really nice. The staff was very sweet, especially Raquel who was very kind. We recommend!!

Did the volcano hike with them and it was amazing!! Super accommodating and just want to make sure you have the best experience. The guide Henry was awesome, funny and kind! I forgot to bring gloves and be lent me his extra pair. Took lots of photos for us and made sure we we're okay and made us feel very safe. I highly recommend doing the volcano tour with them. Everything you get for the price is great! 4 meals, hot chocolate, fire and marshmallows. The woman organizing it was so kind hearted and really cares about you having a great experience. Although I didn't stay the night there, the hostal itself seems great. They let us hang out/ get organized after the hike and have showers before heading to our next adventure.

We did the overnight couples package Acatenango hike with our fantastic guide Ceci. He was fantastic and so patient with my fiance and I as we struggled our way up the mountain. This hike is not for the faint of heart but with some altitude meds and as he said, “ es todo mental (the right mentality)” you can do anything. We had a great private little cabin next to two other fantastic couples and everyone helped me capture my proposal on video and through pictures. I’m super pleased with the private experience offered by Tropicana and if you get the chance to request a guide, ask for Ceci!
