In general, I had a pretty good experience here. I recently stayed here for a Disneyland trip with my daughter. I usually like to stay on the S Harbor side of Disneyland so that I am close to the crosswalk and Tropicana is only one hotel over from being right on the crosswalk.
When we checked in, I was very pleased to see that we actually got one of the balcony suites that over look the entrance to the hotel, right above the lobby. I mean, you could literally see the park across the street. The self-parking was out of spots so I had valet park my car at no extra cost. There was a convenient feature that allowed me to text or scan the QR code to let valet know that I would need my car, and when I get downstairs, the car would be waiting. Well....that feature didn't work, but it would've been cool. I just walked up to valet and they had my car in a couple minutes. No biggie.
The room was very clean and I liked the layout of the stand up shower for some reason. I just found it very spacious and it had the perfect amount of shelf space on the wall to fit both mine and my daughters toiletries. The toilet seat however was a little unconformable. I think it was just a little too square and not very contoured on the edges lol. 5 nights of churros, Disneyland and sitting on that seat takes it toll.
The king bed was comfy and my daughter got a kick out of the chair/pullout bed. She slept on that for the rest of the trip once she discovered it.
I had weird experience while my daughter and I had come back to our room for our mid day break. I guess I though for sure that housekeeping would've come by already, but I heard a key open the door while I was in the bathroom. She announced herself, "housekeeping." I told her that I was in the bathroom. She asked if we needed towels and I asked her to please come back later. She just repeated, "you need towels??" I said, okay, just please leave them. I was a little freaked out at the idea of my being in there while my 8 year old was passed out taking a nap on the bed the whole time. From then on, I made sure to use the do not disturb sign anytime we were in there.
I was really appreciative that there was a small convenience store at the hotel across from the lobby. We basically visited that place everyday. We always bought some drinks at the end of our night before we went back to the room. And those drinks were super cold. When you're coming back from the parks on a hot summer day, it feels amazing to just stand in front of their open cooler doors while getting your Gatorade. They also came through in a clutch. They just happened to have some bananas while my legs were cramping like crazy after the first day of walking. NICE
One thing I wish I had either figured out or don't know if they even have was an elevator on our side. I noticed that there were elevators on the right side of the complex, but to get to our balcony suites, there were only stairs. I couldn't find away to get the luggage carts up to our room. We had a decent amount of stuff and I just ended up taking everything up and down in loads.
Overall, I would definitely consider staying here again for future Disney trips.
