"Tropico, Northern Suburbs by Zebra. Tropico in North Beach opened back in November 2014 and from what we can gather it’s been packed ever since. It’s not difficult to see why either. Firstly the coffee is superb. It’s by Bondi-based roaster Will & Co and is smooth, creamy and seems to match the food perfectly. Now onto that food. We’ve had friends rave about Tropico’s menu and we couldn’t agree more. Fresh, local ingredients and inventive, well thought-through dishes make Tropico the perfect choice for breakfast, brunch or lunch. Combine that with ultra friendly service, a great location and a fantastic interior fit-out, it’s safe to say we’ll be going back very soon."

Nice little spot, very friendly wait persons. Great variety for the breakfast menu.. different from the boring usual things. The waffles with pumpkin was a blast. The salmon croquet with crispy sweet potato went down like a treat. The shakes were also impressive. Overall a very pleasant experience.

We had a great lunch here. Staff are lovely and service was fast. Can get quite busy but worth waiting for a table if you have to. Very casual and welcoming

Maybe I expected to much of them as I ve been following them on social media for a while but this morning breakfast was not what I was expecting. Service was on point (cute French guy and nice waitresses) but food was disappointing on my end. Got the pancakes that "everyone" seem to be talking about. Well they were too dry (good thing I asked for a side of maple syrup) and they were quite plain. Mascarpone wasn't really nice and I couldn't really taste the berry compote inside. They do look good but that's about it in my opinion. I had a stomach ache all day following that meal. Very very disappointed ...

We've been here twice, years apart, and both times it's been a great experience. This time we had three kids with us and the staff went out of their way to make sure we were comfy and they were entertained. They have a huge selection of games and colouring books for the kids, which was a huge hit. The food and coffee were also fantastic. Large servings and delicious. The bullet coffee is well worth a try, not many places have it on their menu.

The waitress that served us was absolutely lovely. We were having a good time until the pint came out half full. We got the avo on toast which is what it was. I got the pumpkin salad it was hard to choose something on the menu because there wasn't really anything I wanted. The salad was ok but nothing special. The atmosphere was relaxed and welcoming.

Got the pancakes and they were quite good but i found them to be a little dry it definitely could have used more of the passionfruit sauce. Staff were lovely, very efficient and they make a wonderful hot chocolate.

Love the food, love the design of the place (open and welcoming space) and prices are reasonable. Iced chocolate is ok. Staff service is good. A lovely restaurant near the beach.

Yelp
Friendly chirpy and beautiful team of waiters...food were equally delicious and highly recommended. Great decor and venue. Plenty of parking. The Brekky Bikers will return to pillage more Bacon and Eggs

Yelp
Nice quite cafe on a weekday. I came here with a friend for brunch and a catch up. We got in trouble for opening the windows because it was hot where we were sitting. Turns out it was because the air con was on but there was no vents on the inclosed patio area so we were hot but inside was not. We moved tables and was more comfortable (it was a 42deg day) I had a beetroot juice and the smashed avo special. My girlfriend is fairly regular there and enjoys the coffee. Turns out the juices come pre made so you can't make adjustments to them. It was all good though, egg cooked perfectly but the toast was a bit hard to saw through.

Yelp
Tropico in a small shopping centre in Flora Terrace, set back from the coastal strip in North Beach has become extremely popular, and on weekends, especially, a very early arrival is called for! A well designed place, light, airy and modern it simply bustles with activity each day and with summer on the horizon can only bustle more. The breakfast menu covers the full gamut of eggs - poached, scrambled, boiled, fried, Florentine...you name it also popular trending dishes - acai bowls, protein bowls, paleo bowls, as well as good old house made baked beans, pancakes and the rest. Kicking off the morning, the coffee was good - a mild roast, smooth and creamy - served at the right temperature and in good time, despite the crowd. Smashed avocado with a nicely runny poached egg perched on top was well put together - and a side of bacon both crisped and tender. Scrambled eggs met expectations; although a little creamier style would not have gone astray - but enjoyable nonetheless. Mushrooms were meaty and juicy and well-seasoned. Fried eggs also turned out well, runny and golden, while the house made beans were well spiced and tender and with a lovely sweetness running through them; so much better than Heinz! The snags on this occasion were a little dry, but that minor glitch did not detract from the overall experience. Tropico is a delightful addition to the North Beach strip - even if a little off the coast - and will only become more so with the friendly atmosphere, prompt service and good food; just remember those crowds if you are heading up that way for breakfast - get in early.

Yelp
I drove 20 mins to try the coffee, and it was well worth it, great work Tropico. Great atmosphere also

Yelp
We had an amazing breakfast this morning at tropico. My wife had eggs Benedict and the food was simply to die for. Coffee did take a bit longer but that's to be expected on a Saturday morning. I do recommend to have your first coffee for the day when you are home, to make the wait a bit more bearable. Now the location is also great as it's tight near the beach with fantastic access to one of Perth most pristine beaches. So if you want to go for a coffee with friends or family and have an grew at breakfast I'd highly recommend them.

Yelp
It's a rare occasion to find me up in the northern suburbs, but today was an exception as my sister and I wanted to brunch at the newly opened café, Tropico. Tropico's breakfast menu runs from 7-11:30am, serving an interesting selection of dishes on breakfast boards and a lovely range of juices in jars. When we arrived, the café was bustling with people so the host promptly took our name, and we were warned that there would be a 15 minute wait. For drinks we both ordered the Mango, Passionfruit and Raspberry Smoothie ($8.5), those being my favourite summer fruits. It was thick, frothy and had a bit of a tang from the passionfruit and some citrus I think was in there. I ordered the Buttermilk pancakes ($16) with Pecan butter cream, Pure Canadian Maple with a side of crisp streaky Bacon ($4). The pancakes were fluffy and had pieces of freeze-dried berries and honeycomb on top. Paired with the bacon it had the right amount of sweetness and saltiness. My sister, a dedicated quinoa lover, decided to get the Chia & Quinoa Salad ($15.5) which was topped with peach, berries, mint and lemon ricotta. Tropico sure knows how to make a salad look pretty, as the presentation makes it hard not to order this dish. Would I return? Yes, I'd definitely love to come back to try their zucchini fritter or sweet & salty granola. It seems like I'll have to venture up to North Beach more often this summer, for some swimming and brunching.

Yelp
We popped into Tropico in North Beach for a late brunch. It is actually a few blocks from the water, but that's close enough for me! The menu is packed with food to share with friends. Coffees arrived first (my brother said his was pretty average) and we waited about 20 minutes for the food to arrive. The macaroni cheese ($9) was creamy and quite cheesy, with a hefty sprinkling of bacon crumbs. I am not sure mac'n'cheese could ever truly impress me, but my first reaction was that the serving was tiny. Thankfully, the barbeque grass fed short rib ($18) was delish and tender. I loved the combination of sweet BBQ sauce, toasted rice, coriander, and pickled daikon (white radish). Steamed mantou buns are still so popular! I remember delightfully smooshing the poached egg into the truffle mash ($18). It was a rich savoury mix of buttery and truffle-flavoured potato, salty pancetta, crunchy garlic croutons, and creamy egg yolk. However, with the public holiday surcharge, this teeny tiny bowl of (mostly) potato would have cost TWENTY BUCKS. Noooope. The Moroccan lamb slider ($9) was quite dry, even with tzatziki. Dry buns on a hot day (there's a dirty joke there somewhere) - not great. The nachos with smokey tomato and wagyu beef ($16) were standard fare. By this point, we were full of carbs and heavy food, but I did enjoy the pickled red onions. Service was decent and we had free tap water. Our meal would have cost about $20-$25 each (before the public holiday surcharge). Tropico wouldn't be my first choice for brunch, but it's probably the right spot if you're at the beach and want a bite to eat.

Yelp
I love North Beach, it's my favourite place to go to the beach. Not only does it have some high spots where you can watch the sun go down but you can also relax with very few people around. North Beach can be one of the quietest beaches for visit in Perth simply because it's one of the smallest ones that is dotted with little sandy inlets. Recently I have been getting a glimpse of yummy food photos of Tropico on Instagram and I decided that it was time to visit. I ventured there on the weekend to see what all the fuss is about and believe me, if you go, you won't be disappointed. Tropico is very busy and it does take some time to get a table. I wasn't surprised by this as I knew from the photos I had seen that there would be high demand for this little treasure. The décor of Tropico reminds me of a 'california dreamin' vibe with relaxed white wash designs and see blue to add a pop of colour. Tropico does a mean cup of coffee and some delicious doughnuts if you are just stopping by for a quick treat whilst having a morning stroll. The food options are plentiful and we decided to try the soft shell tacos. They are small enough to eat a couple and sample a few. We had the pork belly, grilled pineapple, sherry glaze, slaw which was yummy but my favourite was the masterstock duck, hoisin plum sauce, pickled cucumber and carrot. The menu has been carefully put together for this bustling eatery and I think that there is something on the menu for everyone. As I love my veggies and needed an extra lunch dish I tried the roast mushrooms, tarragon butter, fennel seeds and they were delicious. I would definitely recommend them for anyone trying to get their extra hit of veggies during the day. There's no point in going to a place like Tropico after seeing the photos on Instagram without trying the desserts. Let's keep it real for a sec...we all know that the real reason we eat meals is to have the dessert afterwards...right? Well feast your eyes on the amazing picks of the Tropico desserts. They are truly exquisite to look at and are even more yummy to taste. We had the exotic fruits, mango panacotta, salt vinegar crisps and the strawberries, poached and fresh, aged balsamic, basil, eaton mess. Both desserts were extremely large and it was funny to see how much bigger they were than our little lunch. We couldn't finish all of them as we only had a limited amount of time but they were absolutely divine. I would also recommend the smoothies too - I had the pineapple, coconut, raspberry and not only did it look picture perfect, but I drank it in 5 minutes. It was that good. There is so much to choose from that I simply have to go back again. The sweets treats were plentiful and the pizzas looked exceptional. When we were leaving the lovely owner mentioned that they also have some exquisite treats at their other canteen style eatery in Wembley called 'Hermosa'. There is no doubt that I will be stopping by for a taste explosion very soon.

Yelp
Saturday morning! Prams and kids!! I feel for the staff actually! We had the pleasure of sitting on one of the share tables with 3 mums and their 4 kids. Interesting in a way because we ordered as soon as we sat down and food and drinks arrived quickly. Absolutely gorgeous presentation of the food. Everything was delicious...meanwhile the mums were trying to bargin with the staff to change dishes order extra things soothe babies, a toddler dumped a whole coffee in the middle of the table another one wanted a pink marshmallow not a white one with his babycino. The mayhem melted into oblivion as we became comatosed by the enormous breakfast and my quiet glee of throwing caution and the diet to the wind and face planted into the meringue. In and out in much less than an hour the staff are lovely If I didn't have so many bookmarks I would be soon coming back! Nice work tropico!

Yelp
Tropico in North Beach is a good local spot for brunch or lunch. We have been a few times for lunch, opting for soft tacos, ribs, green beans and the crab sliders. Up this way, Tropico also do some of the better coffees, which is worth noting. It is a stones throw from the beach so, you can grab food after a swim or take a coffee down for a wander. Not a bad way to spend part of the day! It is generally pretty busy, casual and bright. People get really into the smoothies, but I wasn't that into them, they were not as exciting as they looked and are a more expensive option than a coffee which they do well enough to stick to instead.

Yelp
Having been here a few times for breakfast, we thought we'd try the lunch/dinner menu. Popped in at about 4pm, it's so good that they still have food service between lunch and dinner. The coffee was very smooth. We order the beef carpaccio and a king fish ceviche. The beef was really good, the rockmelon complemented the dish perfectly. However the found the ceviche to be way too sour, the pickles underneath the pieces of fish were so sour we had to dodge them. Overall it was a good experience, I would definitely come back.

Yelp
This is the first time I have come here, fairly new I found out about this place on Yelp of course :) I love it!! Such a cool place! The menu is amazing all of it - food, juices, shakes, dessert it all sounds very amazing! Came here on a Saturday for lunch we got a table straight away which was good. My friend and I shared our meal so got to taste a few things which is a great concept! Especially as the menu is amazing and hard to choose haha! We got two sliders a lamb and wagyu beef one, a pizza which the base tasted delicious and the chips with an scrumptious dip! The drinks were also good I had a juice which was refreshing and delicious and my friend had the salted caramel shake which tasted yum! The atmosphere and vibe is open, friendly, beachy and tropical! The staff were very friendly as well. They don't take bookings but that's okay just either go early or later we ended up getting a table straight away and we got there about 1pm so wasn't bad. Will be definitely be coming again to this place :)

Yelp
Popped in here rather optimistically on a Saturday morning. Saving grace was i only needed a table for one. Cafe was packed and buzzing but no wait on putting my order in or the food turning up. Lovely service in fact. Had a delicious cappuccino , love it when places add a little biscuit on the side. This one was not only a bit different but also delicious. Ordered the sweet and salty granola. It was Yum! Everything looks fab and appetising. The granola was good with lots of nuts, topping a yummy coconut panacotta accompanied by pineapple, mint and a little pineapple shake on the side. Cool fit out and walking distance to the beach. This would be a regular spot for me if i lived in the area but definitly worth checking out if your not!

Yelp
I'm wavering between 3.5 and 4 stars, based on two visits. I think the thing that has me baulking at the higher rating is the line up. Cos if anyone knows me, they'll know I don't line up. But is that a bad thing, for a business, I mean? Surely it means it's good, or it's new and convenient. Either way, I'm pretty satisfied with my visits, but I didn't hang around inside. Not so good stuff: *Queues *The till girl didn't know her products - had to walk away and ask about ingredients in the rolls and sandwiches in the adjacent cabinet and she didn't know what the muffin of the day flavour was *Noise factor - hell it's noisy in there, sound bouncing off all the hard surfaces *Prices: you are paying for a new and trendy spot that, for all intents and purposes, is 'beachside' except there are some bloody great big houses in the way between your view and the ocean. So take your extra dollars. The better stuff: *Lots of waiting stools and even a bench table out the front (*hint, it's a lot more quiet out the front) *Water dish for the dogs and a bin for your refuse *My toasted pork roll was delicious and everyone else liked their BLT and savoury muffin *Recycled/ enviro everything: take away cups, cutlery, napkins, paper bags and cardboard boxes The good stuff: The Will & Co coffee is a solid brew and the Barista makes a mean long macc So if you're happy to line up and then yell at each other across the table to communicate, go in the popular times. Otherwise, plan it to go in the lag times and get a better feel for the place. Or just stop by, queue jump and order take away. I asked about SMS order ahead and they haven't got that in place, but they are considering it. Note: They do not accept American Express or Diners cards.

Yelp
Fantastic new business! Great quality food and drinks (think sliders, mini tacos, salted caramel milkshakes). The service was top notch like they had known you for years. Just back from the beach so a great spot to stop in before or after a swim.

Yelp
I was a long, long way from home, but luckily Laura D was by side and guided me into a breezy, open plan, busy restaurant for brunch. Unfortunately,Tropico is not uber dog friendly and poor Boris had to stay outside and stare longingly at our delicious meals. Another sad spot, is if you sit out the front of the cafe, there is only a choice of food from the cabinet, not the menu due to some licensing laws? Newly opened, this place was surprisingly packed for a 10am on Thursday. Despite its busyness, the staff were friendly and promptly showed us a table so that we could keep a eye on Boris. The menu offers a range of reasonably priced options, from smoky house made baked beans with poached eeggs, toasted sourdough and tomatillo salsa which was rich and tasted with a fiesta in my mouth. The paleo platter definitely was an option - soft boiled eggs avocado, spiced nuts and seeds with baby spinach ($14). I enjoyed a freshly pressed juice over the smoothies because the price was just too hard to swallow - starting at whopping $8! I'm sure they are very good, but boy oh boy, mine better have gold flakes in it and enough antioxidants to make me a superwoman. Nevertheless, very clean, spacious restaurant with a focus on sustainable and conscientious farming practices, it is a clear winner!

Yelp
Worth the wait! Having been put off by the fear of having to lineup for a table, I was pleasantly surprised when the hostess took my mobile number and suggested I go for a stroll and she would text me when my table was ready. The text came through sooner than I expected and were promptly seated by a smiling face. The menu was extensive with some mouth watering options. I went for the strawberry fields juice and guacamole. Absolutely delish! Completed my lunch with a perfectly made coffee. I was stoked to have found somewhere with amazing guacamole. To top it all off the price was great. All round it was a highly enjoyable experience!

Yelp
First time at tropico for breakfast I was surprised they were open on Easter Sunday and there were tables available at 9:30am. Glad I got in early because it soon filled up with a crowd after 10mins. Perth is definitely getting better!! Had an absolutely scrumptious sweet corn fritter with smoked salmon. It was so good! my friend had the big breakfast and I think he needed it for the hangover he had hahaha Really nicely lit environment and good place to catch up. Coffee was lovely and they come in large mugs when you ask for a large and need that extra caffeine kick. Will be back here again. Bit of a long drive for me but it's definitely worth it

Yelp
Yummo! Came here with friends for a quick lunch and was really happy with both the food quality and service. Our waiters were prompt in taking our orders (although we kept them waiting with our conversation!), and the food started coming right away. The menu is designed with a few share plates and some bigger mains. We had a selection of both types: salmon taco, chicken meatballs, half roast chicken (main), slaw, beans and cauliflower (three sides). The sides came out first, and we waited about 10 minutes for the bigger chicken dish. Each side was seasoned perfectly. I had the beans which were garnished with chives, garlic, hazelnuts and oil. They were very tasty. Friends had the slaw and cauliflower which were both delicious, they assured me. For mains I had the chicken meatballs which were cooked to perfection. Served in a tomato based sauce with capers and olives, very cacciatore inspired. The ricotta on top added just an extra bit of moistness to the dish, and it was perfectly seasoned (not too salty!). We didn't have any sweets, but I ordered a long black with cream on the side - the waitress didn't even batt an eyelid when I asked for this off-menu request. When they get their liquor licence, we'll be back to try more dishes, hopefully for dinner. I'll adjust my rating to 5 stars when that happens!

Yelp
TROPICO. The name alone, if anyone knows me well, knows that this would draw me instantly. And i was far from disappointed. It was a beeeautiful sunny Wednesday late morning when my girl pal n i came for some late brekky. As soon as we pulled up,i instantly fell in love with the whole tropicalness theme of the place. From the signage and palm tree out front and the decor and crispness of the neatly placed tables and waiting chairs inside. Everything on the menu looked delectable. We decided to do a bit of sweet vs savory to share so we got the pancakes with the freeze dried berries, honeycomb , maple syrup and pecan butter (wow!) And the zucchini frittata with two perfectly poached eggs, smoked salmon, avocado and a salsa to garnish. My friend got a flat white coffee and i splurged and got the coconut, pineapple & cherry shake... again wow! Three of my fave things in one shake, are you kidding?! Now the presentation was so stunning, i almost didnt want to eat it/drink it, however i did and it was amazing and im happy to say this place is super awesome for breakfast/brunch. Im guessing weekends get ridiculously busy, midweek breakfasts are perfect.

Yelp
Today my girlfriend and I finally got around to giving Tropico a chance and boy was it worth the hour drive to get there!! We started with a coffee and pressed juice, both of which were perfect. I'm a bit of a coffee snob so I like to think my opinion carries a little weight when it comes to lattes. The first dish to come out was the kingfish cerviche with a miso - butterscotch sauce. The combination was genius and the serving size was generous. My only gripe was that the cerviche wasn't cold enough but that's just personal preference. We then had the mushrooms with tarragon butter and hand cut chips. Again, the serving size was good for the two of us to share, we actually had some leftover which we got put in little take away boxes! The mushrooms were beautiful and the flavour was not overpowering like other places which I really appreciated. Next was the pork belly soft shell taco and the short rib baos. The pork belly was maybe slightly over cooked but let me just tell you, when you take that first big bite into that taco, that is the last thing on your mind! The combination of flavours was simply to die for. The bao came diy style which is easily one of my favourite plating styles, being able to control the ratio of flavours is something I always enjoy. The short rib was cooked to perfection and came with a rich BBQ sauce. The bao was great but eat them quickly or they'll go stale! All in all this was a perfect sitting. From the decor to the service to the view and the food, everything meshed well together and created the ideal lunch experience.

Yelp
I'd heard great things about this little North Beach spot so was excited to try it out. For lunch time on a Saturday, it was busy but not packed, and we were able to get a seat outside within a few minutes - always a plus, especially on a weekend. Wanting a light lunch, we shared a few snacks. As sometimes lamb's meaty flavor is too full on for me, the Moroccan lamb slider was hesitantly chosen.. but I was happy to be proven wrong on this one. Deliciously slow cooked with a generous helping of tatziki, this little baby left me wanting more! The soft shell taco filled with grilled snapper, lime, avo and coriander was a bit lackluster for me compared to the slider, but was still tasty nonetheless. Our zucchini chips seemed to have gotten lost in the fray, but the staff were quick to rectify that - and a few extra chips than normal erased the memory of our waiting stomachs. But the real winner for me was my mango, passionfruit and raspberry smoothie. That thing was summer in a jar! All in all, it was a great little place to enjoy some eats and drinks, only a stone throw away (-ish) from the beach. Would definitely go back, but to try the breakfast menu.

Yelp
I've been wanting to try out Tropico for ages and finally visited for a midweek brunch. I was not disappointed. Even midweek, the north beach cafe was bustling. It had a mixture of indoor, outdoor and conservatory type seating. The staff were great and the decor was delightful. The menu looked delicious and there was so many amazing choices. I finally decided on the pancakes. Wow is all I can say. They were full on. The only feedback I can give is they were great but could of used more raspberries...but raspberries are my favourite fruit. The best thing about these pancakes is although you think they will be so good but so sickly sweet, I was pleasantly surprised to find it was sweet but not sickly sweet. It might not be overlooking the coast but it has plenty to offer that it not being on the coast is ok, it's a 5 mins walk down to the coast anyway. I can't wait to visit Tropico again!!

Yelp
Couldn't believe how hustling and bustling this place was. Waited for half an hour for a table but was happy to chat to Paul the barista to pass the time. The menu is great and I settled on the homemade beans with poached eggs.. Packed with flavour and hit the spot... The coffee is divine! Will definitely be back.. I did feel a little underdressed.. Didn't realise the fashion conscious had made this their local

Yelp
One street back from the coast road, in what you'd think is a suburban street, Tropico's Insta worthy looking dishes have been popping up on my feeds for a long time. I've now been twice and while the food does live up to it's photos, each time I've left with a distinct taste of grease/oil. Maybe it's because I haven't been for breakfast, which they seem famous for. Maybe it's because both times I've shared small dishes with friends and haven't had a chance to have the fresh sounding raw dishes. A lot of the menu though is what I call 'beige' food - carbs or deep fried. That being said there are some great finds. Recently we ordered the mushroom pizza - light on mushroom but heavy on cheese with a nice base. The sliders ($8-$10 each) have a delicious bun. The beef one was okay but the lamb one was a winner. You'd need two if you were having that as a meal. The tacos ($8.5 each) were good, pretty standard and you'd need at least three to make it a meal. We then shared a red slaw that has like a Parmesan shredded on top and battered and deep fried zucchini chips. My lesson, it's meant to be shared, but it's not easy food to do so. Maybe share some sides and order your own 'meal' if you want something lighter.

Yelp
A cute little place with lovely food and coffee. The initial service was prompt but the wait for the food was a little to long for my liking, especially as two of us have babies. The service was interesting.. nice but could have been better. Our drinks took forever to come out, then one drink wasn't actually noted down when ordered and then only one meal came out for one person until around 15 minutes later when we finally asked if all the other meals could come out. It was fairly frustrating as the place was by no means busy and by the time all the food was out our baby's had lost all patience. My food was very good and is the only reason I would give this place a second chance tbh!

Yelp
Popped into tropico for breakfast on a Sunday and it was so busy we were worried about getting a table for 4 but we went straight in! This place has such a cool vibe with the decor and the happy wait staff. Food came out super quick even though they were busy! I was a little surprised at how small the smashed avo was but it was actually perfect - didn't leave me too full. Definitely recommend this place for a meal by the beach.

Yelp
UM YUM The pancakes here are to DIE FOR! Literally the best pancakes I have ever tasted. Breakfast only runs from 7am-11:30am, so make sure to swing by! A little pricey though, so bring the check book! Good service. Friendly and attentive. Will certainly come back. I know my husband will love this place.

Pretty good breakfast. Service was friendly and quick. Even on a super busy Saturday morning. The waffles were a bit dry, but aside from that it was a great experience.

Yelp
This is such a great new café! I love that the lunch menu has meals that you can share with your friends! You are also given the option to have a decent sized meal to yourself but everything on the menu looks so good that sharing was definitely the way to go when I came with my friends. We ordered their chicken meatballs, potatoes and chorizo and sliders....all ahh-mazing and surprisingly filling. Extra points for the large alfresco with a big window so you can enjoy the sea breeze. I don't want to call these negative points because this place has only just opened and they were super busy when I was there, but just a heads up that you may have to wait for a table if you go at peak time (my friends and I waited 15 minutes max but we scored and awesome table outside), the food took a little longer than usual to come out and the staff haven't quite adapted a serving system yet as we had a number of staff members ask us if we were ready to order when we already had. The fifth star is absent only because their crème brulee was such a disappointment! I love my sweets so pretty much anything taste great to me, but this was just all wrong. Maybe less trying to be fancy with having an orange twist taste to it and minus the weird, dough-y blobs they sprinkled on top, which I can only imagine is what a mouth full of sand must taste like... Other than that a great little place which I cant wait to visit again, and I have to say that the denim aprons the waiters wear are ever so cute!

Yelp
Love this place! Have been here twice now and really like the look and feel of it. Service is good too and it's always busy. First time we had breakfast. Great menu with lots of interesting choices. I had the smashed avo, while my sister had the banana bread, which came with honeycomb and meringue (huge serve!). Juices are great. Second time we had the infamous mac and cheese and duck tacos - delish! I was tempted to order more but two each were quite filling. Looking forward to coming back and trying more.

Yelp
Just had my worst breakfast out since....the last time I tried Tropico. A few things to address: poached eggs for both my wife's and my breakfast were horribly overdone - basically hard-boiled eggs and looking around everyone had the same experience. My wife's bacon was also super-burnt and she had to leave half of it uneaten. Weren't even asked how everything was, figured they didn't want to know. Coffee was....meh. Staff were fine, not overly-friendly or rude, but definitely ok. Won't be going back until there's a turnover or vast improvement in the kitchen. How the mighty have fallen.

Yelp
Possibly one of the most photographed food eateries of Perth. If you want to be noticed, make sure that your food is utterly irresistible in Instagram pictures #nofilter. Along with the great presentation the flavours are all there too! It's amazing what they can concoct in that kitchen! The woodfired mushrooms are to die for, the leatherwood waffles are absolutely heavenly and the eggs hollandaise had my mouth watering from the pass! I just can't recommend this place enough. One downfall is that it can get quite busy and staff can tend to be quite caught up that they will forget simple requests like water and cutlery. Won't stop me from referring people onto this little gem though!

Yelp
we went to have breakfast on a weekday ,was very busy and we thought maybe we should of booked, but lucky we got a table,on first impressions was rather expensive for a cafe in the burbs with no sea views or anything really. But after ordering and our food came out i was really impressed with the portions and presentation of all the food, tasty food that shows imagination and creative flare, coffee was perfect and staff great. no wonder this place is full most days. we are coming back next week for the breakfast again can't wait!!!

Yelp
Absolutely scrumptious breakfast. You definitely do eat with your eyes here. Great set up and decor. Very hip styling. Our breakfast was yummy fresh and a really nice change from the usual breakfast fair around Perth. A busy popular place that I will definitely be back to!

Yelp
Only did take-away. No menu just choices from the cabinet. The food was delicious & the cheese in my ham and cheese sandwich was amazing. Price was a little high but for a quick meal it worked out well.

Yelp
Awesome fit out, friendly staff and amazing food. Highlights so far are the pancakes and the panna cotta. Can't wait to try lunch!

Yelp
I've been following Tropico on Facebook for a while now after seeing friends post countless pictures of delicious looking food, so when I came back to Perth, I was hanging to try it out. We came early on a Sunday morning, and the place was already in full swing, people everywhere, but we were seated right away. I had the Wood Roasted Mushrooms, served with basil pesto, poached eggs and sourdough and my companion had the Full Breakfast. The mushrooms were tasty and the pesto a nice alternative to the usual butter mushrooms served at most breakfast establishments. My poached eggs were a little overcooked, and the sourdough served dry, without a side of butter- which I would have asked for had our waiter not disappeared, and when she returned my toast was cold so I didn't bother. For the Full Breakfast (2 eggs any way, pork & fennel, house made beans, roast tomato, bacon, pesto mushrooms and sourdough) the sausages and beans were the stand outs. I'm a sucker for homemade beans, and they were smoky and well seasoned. Overall, while beautifully presented, and not bad by any means; I've definitely had better and won't bother returning.

Yelp
Went to see what all the fuss was about and overall, fairly impressed by the visit. Best part - clean and fabulous smelling toilets. Loved the colour palate (sea green), just missing a waste basket for hand towels. Second best - the smoothie. The food was tasty. After asking the waitress for her favourites which she quickly rattled off (always a good sign that the staff know their product!), chose the wagyu slider, pork belly taco and the zucchini 'chips'. Also had the AMAZE banana, honey and oat smoothie... so delicious, wanted another. Downfall: forgot our two coffee orders, twice! Friend ordered at the beginning of the meal, I ordered at the end. Neither remembered and a sinking look from the waiter realizing his mistake. Can't comment on the coffee, but they have their own roasted by Will & Co.

Yelp
Lovely fit-out, great atmosphere. Lunchtime food is OK. nothing special. Apparently the breakfast is better. Will try again. No reservations.

Yelp
We turned up early as recommended and there was still a 15 minute wait, which we used to take a quick stroll along the beach :) When we were seated though the staff were very friendly and accommodating with our pram. We ordered from the breakfast menu and the food unfortunately wasn't a massive hit, that's not to say it wasn't nice, it just didn't have anything wow about it. All of us left our plates with something on it. They do cook a lovely egg though, both the scrambled and poached eggs were cooked to perfection. Their juice blends are also nice, I ended up swapping my Strawberry Fields juice with my husband as he found his Punch Love juice had a bit too much kick (ideal for my ginger loving taste buds). If I make my way back here I'd be keen to try more from their drinks menu and grab something from the display counter to snack on instead

Yelp
Oh Dear.... how the mighty have fallen... had brunch here a while ago and it was very nice... dear...but nice. Now??? They have either changed chefs or just dont give a shit.about lunch ... Lamb wrap.. tasteless $8.00 Slider -1 Wagyu Beef $9.50 ...are you sure it's Wagyu?...coz it taste like topside mince.. with a pickle Slider 2 Morrocan Lamb - $9.50 tasty meat!! - stale bun. Fries??? - ummm no... overdone, underseasoned, soggy/limp..... or burnt... you have to have some serious skills to fuck up fries this bad Beer selection - With the amount of high quality local and international beers available... the best of the worst was Fat Yak Pale Ale from the once independent Matilda Bay Brewery - the insipid, flavourless excuse for a Beer perfectly complemented the blandness and mediocrity of the food. Dissapointing is an understatement.

Yelp
Oh so THAT'S what all the hype is about! Pancakes and bacon were awesome--my girlfriends mushroom and pesto dish looked and tasted great as well. Coffee was good, but was served in one of those hipster ceramic takeaway style cups! Haha 4.9/5 ;)

Yelp
Arriving at 10am on a Sunday anywhere is fraught with danger & Tropico was no exception. There was a great system in place to get a table but it still took more than half an hour to be seated. PET PEEVE: water glasses that smell like egg. Honestly, there's nothing worse. Great coffee & a really nice green & ginger cold pressed juice came just in time to stave off the "hanger". The menu is all the regulars - with a bit of a twist - but a little bit overpriced in my opinion, also the big breakfast was crammed on an impractical plate. It was all very tasty though & the staff were all lovely & very efficient.

Yelp
A delicious breakfast at Tropico in North Perth. Lots of #paleo options. This is the wood fired mushrooms with poached eggs, basil pesto and extra side of roast tomatoes. I skipped the sourdough. Delicious flavours and beautiful soft poached eggs. Good coffee too. Thumbs up!

Yelp
After a shaky start we found a table and a an excellent flaty. One street bank from the beach is worth the walk and you will be rewarded.

Yelp
One of the best breakfasts I've had! I ordered the pancakes with bacon and mascarpone. I enjoyed every mouthful! Their cold pressed juices are also amazing, mine was apple and raspberry and it was delicious! Would recommend this place to anyone for breakfast. Food came fast and staff were friendly too :)
