Unfortunately, this was one of the worst hotel experiences we’ve ever had. We booked Tropics Hotel via Booking.com, trusting the photos and descriptions. But the reality was far from what was advertised.
1) The room was dark, damp, and felt like a basement. It looked nothing like the bright, airy room shown in the photos.
2) The air conditioner was broken and freezing cold – completely unadjustable.
3) The door locked with a hook latch from the inside – unsafe, especially when staying with a 2-year-old child.
4) There were insects in the room and a musty smell that made it hard to breathe.
5) Overall, the place felt unsafe and unsanitary.
We contacted Booking.com immediately, explained everything, and provided photos and screenshots, but they refused to help or refund us. In the end, we had to leave right away and book a safe and clean place via Airbnb — which was a huge extra expense.
Avoid this hotel at all costs if you care about safety, cleanliness, and honesty. It is unacceptable that such misleading listings are still up.
