We were fortunate to get a last-minute booking at Trout Point Lodge when the Air Canada strike in August derailed our original vacation plans. Talk about a silver lining! While not the vacation that we originally planned, it was the vacation that we definitely needed. We felt so well cared for and found our stay here to be absolutely magical. The staff at the lodge are incredibly friendly and kind, and they dedicate themselves to making sure guests have a great experience. There are only 13 rooms/26 guests max, so the staff to guest ratio is really good. ||||This is a fantastic place to go to relax, reconnect with nature, and enjoy spectacular food and beverages. We got an all-inclusive package and ate exceptionally well. The food is spectacular -- among some of the best meals I've had. The wine by the glass selection is really well-thought out. The sommelier is available to guide you through paired tastings with your meal or to give you glass/bottle recommendations. She's also created a very nice cocktail menu with many fun and delicious choices. (Bonus -- if you eat outside, you will be entertained by hummingbirds flocking to feeders hung adjacent to the patio.)||||We enjoyed star-gazing on our first night there, though were a little disappointed that the staff astronomer mentioned on their website was no longer there. We also enjoyed a guided paddling excursion, a yoga class, and several hot-tub reservations. (You reserve the hot tub and sauna so that you have exclusive use of both.) The owners have tucked little sitting areas all throughout the property so there are plenty of places to go to be completely quiet and alone. ||||On our last evening at the lodge, we learned that our ferry back to the U.S. had been cancelled and that we would have to stay in Nova Scotia an additional day. The lodge was fully booked, so we couldn't extend our stay, but the staff helped us find lodging and suggested an itinerary and driving route that resulted in our having a wonderful "bonus day" of exploring. They really went above and beyond.
