Tru Tacos

If you haven't found this place, you're simply missing out, especially if you are looking for GF options. I don't have allergies, but my wife is Celiac and could eat anything and everything on the menu. The Chimichunga was incredible and the Gordita was so good, I had to go back and order another (the Asada was super good, but the pastor stole the show... not to sweet, just a hint of pinapple)! Don't miss out... and I'm only visiting for a week (gonna be back before I leave).

Nice little “pop up” inside Jewels Bakery. Th-Sat nights. The tacos are decent. Feel like if each taco had their own toppings (opposed to just cilantro and onion) they would be elevated. The Pastor is little dry for my liking but still had good flavor. The Elote though was good surprise of a side dish. I would try the fries next time and a marg. They look great. Chill - friendly environment. Great idea.

Amazing. Very good tacos and nachos, same location as the day time Jewel’s Bakery and Cafe. So nice eating with peace of mind that everything is gluten free, and you know it’s all delicious.

I recently heard about this place and wanted to give it a try. Being a celiac I have not had a good bean burrito with a tortilla that actually tastes good in years. That bean burrito with the green salsa is worth the five stars for me. Will 100% be back for more.

The birria pizza and carne asada fries are amazing! Some of the best Mexican food I’ve ever had !

I love and so appreciate this place. I ordered the chimichanga with the beef tongue (my favorite meat on their menu fr so good) and the traditional margarita. You wouldn’t think they would do a good margarita but they DO it’s a must-order!!! It’s also such a comfy spot to dine alone

My fiancee has Celiac disease, so dedicated Gluten-Free joints are worth their weight in gold in these parts. We are regular patrons of Jewel's Bakery (Tru Taco shares their location & kitchen at night) so this was a no-brainer to try, we gave them a try within the first week of them opening up. The menu was limited at the time but has expanded significantly since, so if you tried them early and didn't like the limited options, give them another try as their taco menu has expanded. Their Chimi is excellent as are the asada fries. Basically anything that has their cheese sauce on it is a must-try. They also now have an Asada Fry taco which is excellent if you don't want a full plate of fries. These folks are clearly a mom & pop operation but they're definitely finding their footing. Be sure to keep an eye on them and give them some love & business, it would be amazing to have a good GF Mexican place like this become a permanent fixture in the community.

Really good food. I ordered the birria pizza and even though I don't follow a gluten free lifestyle the homemade crust was really good. Meat was tender and the service was extremely quick. I also got 2 Asada tacos that I also enjoyed. I took the food to go but the restaurant had a really chill atmosphere

Wowza, these tacos are amazing!!! I was looking for a quick bite before we hit up a bar, and these were perfect. It's about $2.75-$3 per taco bursting with flavours and quality meat. I had trouble finding it and circled the parking lot 2x. It's a ghost kitchen inside Jewels Bakery & Cafe. I love that I can directly order through Grubhub for quick pick up and prices are the same as their menu. I ordered each type of tortilla, Doritos, prickly pear and corn. The flavours of the tortilla are very subtle and I didn't notice the difference between them. It has a nice chew and holds the taco up well. I ordered one of each sauce, salsa verde is my fav. Cucumbers and limes on the house for the perfect finish. We wish we ordered more.

I first heard about Tru Tacos through social media and decided to give them a try. I would say that their tacos are good and they come with fresh tortillas. I also love the vibes even though this pop up shares the space with Jewel's Cafe. I wasn't too impressed with the horchata but perhaps I'll try a different drink next time.

My husband has Celiacs disease and we have had multiple safe dinners here because EVERYTHING IS GLUTEN FREE. Thank you!! I only wish the staff would wear masks but other than that this pop-up is great.

As a lifelong Californian who has never liked Mexican food outside of California, I never thought I'd say this, but: these are the best tacos I have ever had in my entire life. Ever. I honestly could not believe how amazing they were. First and foremost, they use a HOT CHEETO TORTILLA. Are you kidding me?! The innovation is astounding, like, come on!!!!! Then, the carne asada was juicy, perfectly seasoned, and just some high quality meat. The toppings were just icing on the cake. If I'm remembering correctly, they served sliced cucumbers on the side, which, when added to the tacos just set them off! Just wow! The carne asada fries were equally delectable. They, too, had an element of my beloved snack with a hot cheeto crumble on the top. It was more than I had ever hoped for since I have been limited in the amount of Mexican restaurants I can eat after my celiac diagnosis, but it was better than any gluten-filled establishment I've been to pre-diagnosis. Since my visit, I have seen that they added a carne asada fry taco and this California girl can't help but notice how close that comes to my favorite meal of all time: a California burrito (a San Diego classic: carne asada, fries and guac stuffed into a delicious masterpiece of a burrito). If they decide to add a California burrito with a hot cheeto tortilla to the menu, fuhgeddaboudit, I am moving to Arizona and never looking back. I hope to see this place thrive so much that it becomes its own, full-time, seperate establishment, because man, what an absolute gem of a menu. You all have blown me away and over a month later, my mouth is still watering.

YUM! I am a huge Jewels Cafe fan and was so excited to see her open open Tru Tacos on the patio. Last night I stopped by to give it a try after drooling over the pozole on my IG feed. I picked up pozole, several of the hot Cheeto carne asada tacos, a few al pastor tacos, and a nopal taco (I am listing these in the order of my most favorite first!). I can confidently say this is the best pozole I've ever had. I could eat it everyday and be in heaven. Next up were the carne asada tacos. I was really excited to try the hot Cheeto tortillas but I have to say, I couldn't really taste the difference. Could be because I was drowning my taco in the salsa verde (which was AMAZING). Tortilla or no tortilla, that carne asada was perfection. Al Pastor tacos were delicious, and this was my first time trying nopal. It was not bad, but I will probably stick to the pozole and carne asada tacos in the future because they were incredible! I highly recommend stopping by- I believe they're open Thursday, Friday, and Saturday nights. 100% worth the drive across the valley to check this place out!

Excellent food! Hand made tortillas; gluten free cheese sauce. Nopal and lengua tacos! So good!!

LOVEEE Tru Tacos !!! Really delicious and highly recommend, it doesn't get more authentic than this

Decided to try Tru's tonight (having been long time Jewel's supporters) and was not disappointed. My girlfriend is celiac, so a whole gluten-free experience without any worry is fantastic. The meal was so good she sent me back for more! The whole menu is incredible. The al pastor, the nopal, the carne asada, and the elotes.. all amazing. Thank you to the whole Tru Tacos team for making such an amazing experience!

Went there for dinner tonight. Elote was fantastic, and we recommend they make it a permanent addition to the menu. Tacos were tasty, and the carne asada with flaming hot Cheeto tortilla was to die for. Delicious steak, well seasoned and tender, and the tortilla was authentic. We'll go back!

Love the tacos here ! Super delicious and would definitely recommend the al pastor and nopal tacos !!
