I stayed here for a quick weekend trip for a family member's wedding and was very pleased with my stay. We were hoping for an early check-in and because our assigned room was not ready early, the staff found a room that was ready early and allowed us to switch to there instead, which extremely kind and helpful. Everything was very clean, quiet, and quaint. Breakfast was good and there are plenty of places to eat & drink in the area. I will stay there again if I return to Truckee.

Spending 4th of July weekend. Booked the room for two nights almost last minute. Price was fantastic especially under those circumstances. Loved my room - very clean and the pool and hot tub are amazing as well. Staff is so helpful and friendly!!!! Breakfast is wonderful and I love the coffee machine in the Lobby. Highly recommend this hotel. A++++++++++++++ I will definitely be back soon I hope.

Nice location just off the 80 highway. Hotel was quiet, clean and nice to have a breakfast included in rate, just like a Holiday Inn Express. Only complaint is a heavy rug deodoriser scent throughout the hotel/my guest room. I hope management reads this so PLEASE shampoo all carpeting in lobby/hallways and room 302 (I presume other rooms). Hallways need that done. Again, to the hotel GM, do not use that noxious carpet deodoriser anymore!!!! People can taste it as it’s so strong so stop! We opened our guest room window and ran our wall AC but it didn’t help much. Other than the carpets all treated this way, a clean highway close stay.

Whoever the owner is, they sure have a great taste and are very attentive to details. The furniture, decoration, and hardware have such a great quality. They are simple, yet sturdy and classy. Even shampoo smells upscale. I also like how spacious the room is. At this price point, the quality is unbelievable. I'm honestly impressed.

Absolutely horrible experience here. My family and i were on a budget trip to truckee for my daughter's surgery amd wound up at truckee donner lodge because they had an open room for 6 people. I booked and paid for the room on expedia a few days prior . Upon arrival at approximately 2:15 pm on our check in date I was told at the front counter that check in is at 3 and I'd have to pay a 10 dollar check in fee. I figured everyone wanted out of the car so I opted to pay it. The hostess said their card reader was broken and it would have to ne entered manually. Having worked retail before it does happen. Once in our room my wife and I checked our bank statement and noticed that the 10 dollar charge wasn't. It was actually 228 and change. I went down stairs and the hostess told me I'd have to wait for the new lead at shift change at about 315. So I waited and when he arrived I told him we were wrongfully charged and needed that money back immediately . I was told it couldn't be helped amd I told him that it was absolutely NOT authorized and that it was to be a 10 dollar charge . I told him that the room was paid to his "no it's not" as i have the receipt on deck on my phone.i just got told that it will be held until check out and then released afterward.Service was horrible. Their response was horrible. The illegal charge was not only inconvenient but on a budget trip 228 is a huge chunk out of food and fuel. I was double charged for the room and without consent . I'll pay for 2 rooms elsewhere next time rather than ever option this place again. If you stay here check your statements

This place is nice and safe for family stay . It has three floors , laundry rooms , vending machine and ice maker on the second floor. Rooms were clean although bathroom tiles were broken . Room chair was torn off on one side but they replaced it with another one. The staff was nice and helpful. We stayed here two nights . There is Nescafé coffee maker beside the breakfast bar which was of no use as they were out of disposable cups. Three hour breakfast window 6:30am to 9:30am. The lady with Grey hair serving at the breakfast was really nice.

I had an absolutely horrible customer service experience. I spoke with the manager regarding a travel issue and the need to cancel my reservation. She initially assured me that they would be supportive of waiving the cancellation fee if I contacted the third-party service I booked through. However, after Booking.com reached out to them to request the waiver, the lodge completely reversed their stance and declined my request, even though they had previously said they would approve it. To make matters worse, when we were on a three-way call with Booking.com, the lodge acted as if their hands were tied and dodged my questions. Eventually, they hung up on me. The lack of integrity here is what’s most upsetting. If you're not willing to accommodate my request, be upfront about it, rather than having me spend hours on the phone with a third-party service, only to be denied in the end. Customer service is critical, and I would never choose to stay at a hotel where the staff lacks integrity and accountability.

Pros: Spacious Kind older gentleman during night shift Cons: Our room smelled like urine Room was too hot and could not sleep, and could not change the thermostat Low quality breakfast They told me I can do late checkout and then charged me for it. Late checkout meaning instead of checking out at 11, we checked out at 1130. I was supposed to check out at 12 but they called and knocked on door at 1130 expecting us to leave. They later told me since they didn’t charge me for a crib, they are keeping the charge on there. But when I booked the room, it said “free crib available upon request.” They didn’t believe me and made me send them evidence which I did. In the end they refused to remove the charge and refused to discuss further and hung up. They said they would check the cameras to see the exact time we left but would not follow up with me after viewing. Unfriendly and unhelpful customer service if you have any issues so wouldn’t recommend. Do not care about their guests.

Valerie F.

Yelp
Stopped in to check out the property grounds and they just have been watching us and said the property was not pet friendly but there was another family there with the dog? Very unfriendly place and clearly they don't want future guests.

Mitchell M.

Yelp
Couldn't make reservation due to winter storm. Asked to reschedule to a future date and pay the difference. Destiny, the manager at Truckee Donner lodge turned a blind eye. No response to multiile calls and emails over multiple days. Hotels always blame third party sites like booking.com for lack of customer service but  the reality is that lesser properties would happily pocket the money without trying to help the guest. Would not recommend booking here. Read other reviews in this thread, very similar. No customer service. I have stayed here mutiple times and it's not worth the price. Super loud can hear the freeway, people upstairs and in the hall, rooms are tired and need updating. Many better options in the area.

Sia K.

Yelp
This is such an adorable hotel! The room was spacious and beautiful. It's a small little hotel but it feels super homie so that's super nice. They also have breakfast included. They had lots of options to pick from! It you are passing through I would definitely recommend staying at this place!

C S.

Yelp
Cute little spot, close to the freeway but really couldn't hear it at all even with a room facing it. Morning "buffet" breakfast was not only efficient and enjoyable, but the staff were so friendly and attentive. Only downside was that the hot tub jets weren't working, and the walls/hallways could use some updating and painting. Room had quaint fixtures and the lobby felt very "Truckee".

Monica G.

Yelp
Pretty sweet location, close to dinner lake, truckee downtown and ski slopes. They offer a pretty basic breakfast, and the coffee machine runs 24hrs with hot water and fresh coffee. The pool could need a bit more attention tho.

Jack D.

Yelp
The freeway noise is significant you light sleepers like me. Don't get a room on the freeway side. Hotel is older and tired. I would check out other places first .

Jannette R.

Yelp
Stayed here for a few days since we were going skiing at soda springs which was about 15 minutes away. Located right off highway 80. Across the Chevron & new construction of townhouses. Plenty of parking in front. Outdoor pool & jacuzzi. Laundry room but did not use. Did Not see a gym. Room with small fridge & microwave. Smaller tv. Not enough electrical outlets near the bed compared to other hotels. 4 of us stayed comfortably in a 2 queen bed. No daily cleaning service due to Covid. Bathroom has some mold on ceiling & hair dryer does not work. Otherwise. Hallways have a pleasant smell & appear clean. Grab & go Breakfast 6-9am, was actually very filling. Microwaveable sausage & egg sandwiches. Ready made waffles, hard boiled eggs. Fresh cut up Fruit available. Pastries, toaster for your bagels. Staff very friendly. Would stay here again if in the area.

Yelp
We booked our room using third party and works well and confirmed fast! When we got there we waited for thirty minutes due to faulty faucet in our reserved room but they switched us to a better room and bigger too! They didnt let us go anywhere and they did what they can to accomodate us. Room is so Clean and smells good too! Breakfast was great! Staff is so friendly! We will be back soon! Perfect for my Family !

Yelp
If I could give this place zero stars I would. I have never been treated with such disrespect in my life. This place is disorganized, rude, and unprofessional. We booked a room here to stay Saturday night for a festival and the weather was too harsh for our car to get up the mountain. We didn't want to jeopardize our car and more importantly our lives so we attempted to cancel. We called early in the morning and spoke to one front desk girl who said to contact the third party and we did. Booking.com called them to which they said they needed an email from booking.com to request a free cancellation due to the weather. The third party emailed them. We called the front desk again a little later in the day and the front desk girl said they did not receive the email and gave us two emails to send it to and then confirmed over the phone "yes we can do the full refund once the email is received". Called booking.com and they stated that Truckee Donner Lodge has the wrong email on file so they had to call and verify the new email. When booking.com called the front desk the girl, who specifically refused to give her name, said she could not give us a refund. We merged the call with both the lodge and booking.com where this girl was rude and disrespectful and should not be anywhere near customer service. She stated she never said that and the girl who did was in the restroom and we can wait. We stated why is one worker allowed to confirm a refund and she won't approve the refund. She said that's the policy and it doesn't matter about the weather "people come up here for the snow..so". We asked for her manager who she claimed she just spoke to "she says we can't have a merged call" and she said she is speaking to her through their personal system. She then stated the only way we can contact the manager is through email and the manager does not have a business phone. This girl also stated that "she doesn't know if the manager is coming in or not due to the snow". I hope the manager has some decency to help people with some hospitality. I am beyond upset and hope no one has to deal with such frustration and disrespect.

Yelp
Just checked in and room smelled horribly of mildew, maybe old smoking. White stains on bed. Despite the fact that there were rooms still not checked in, the front desk staff refused to switch us claiming that because we had walked into the room and immediately called them about the smell that they couldn't give the room to someone else. Refused to call the manager or cancel our reservation. Absolutely do not recommend. Buyer beware.

Sydney F.

Yelp
We have no complaints about our stay here, even though it was only one night. The check in process was easy & the staff was nice. The rooms were everything we needed for our stay. They have a 24/7 coffee station and provided breakfast in the mornings. Breakfast had several different options including eggs, bacon, frozen Jimmy dean breakfast sandwiches, and bagels.

Paul K.

Yelp
I booked this lodge for one night over labor day weekend (today). When I showed up after a 4 hour drive, my reservation was not found. We collectively realized that the date was accidentally changed online during the booking process for 2 weeks in the future. This could have been my fault...or the site I was using. Because of their strict cancelation policy, they would not give me a refund or even apply the amount towards a new stay for the day I showed up (today). The 3rd party we used contacted the hotel and the hotel denied any concession. My family and I booked a different place. Let's just assume the error was on my part. It would have been good customer relations to help us out. Especially since the mistaken night was still 2 weeks out, and I'm sure they would be able to rebook the room. This left a poor taste in my mouth and feel there are better accommodations around that show better courtesy.

Gabriel C.

Yelp
Not good. I hoped to spend my time post-skiing in an environment that was hospitable and suited my needs. This was NOT the case. First, the hotel manager was very rude and told me and my young 6 year old boy to "F** off" ALSO, I called prior to getting a reservation to the hotel (2 months ago) asking if they had a WORKING hot-tub. The answer was yes, however to my surprise when we asked about the broken hottub when we were there, they informed me that it had been broken for 4 months and that we should have asked if anything was broken beforehand!!!

Manuel R.

Yelp
Booked a one night stay for me and my partner. Mainly came for the hot tub that was open. Finally went to go in the spa and the water was green and the water had a moldy smell. I own a pool and this hot tub obviously hasn't been cleaned in a while. Asked the woman at front desk to see when the last cleaning was and she said she didn't know and to talk to the manager tomorrow morning, which is when I have to check out. Really bummed out that I wasn't able to enjoy the hot tub.

Neen F.

Yelp
The hotel is ok but don't expect much. It smells as soon as you enter and the staff is not helpful. They are annoyed if you ask for any basic service. The free breakfast is convenient but not tasty. Their coffee is so watered down that you feel like you drank brown hot water. It was a bit gross to be honest. Would never comes back.

Robert A.

Yelp
Destinee was so helpful! I had a lovely stay. Everything was so clean in the room. Everyone was so friendly!

Lyn D.

Yelp
I was supposed to stay elsewhere one night but my reservation got lost. I booked a night here via a third party site because it had the best rates (that wasn't a sketchy-looking motel). When I arrived, lo and behold, my reservation was technically on the wrong date. (At this point, it was nearly 3am, and I could not check in until 3pm). Cue the EXCELLENT customer service. I was helped by an employee at the front desk named Dana. He was not only incredibly friendly, but extremely understanding and accommodating. He SAVED my evening, my sanity, and my "relaxing" vacation! He saw that there was a room available, got me checked in, and I was able to finally rest after a LONG day of driving from San Francisco to Truckee late at night. He not only helped me snag a room, but he helped me reverse a complicated issue with the third party site (note to self -- call a property DIRECTLY for availability, deals, and more because 3rd party sites take so much from small businesses!). The room was spacious, clean, and the bed was very comfortable. I had considered cancelling my booking at the other resort so I could stay here longer...but I will be sure to keep this amazing hotel in mind for a near-future visit. Breakfast and coffee are included, as well as gorgeous outdoor scenery. It is also very conveniently located. Very special thank you to Dana. Your kindness, your professionalism, and SUPERB customer service is what I hope all future travelers get to experience!

Curtis H.

Yelp
This hotel is a not even a motel 6. Overwhelming traffic noise off the freeway paper thin walls , old rooms. Sitting in the jacuzzi at 9pm you enjoy the sound of construction and tractors. Avoid this place at all costs. Worst mistake ever.

Sandra S.

Yelp
This place was well worth the price of $95 a night. Technically check in was not until 4:00 but we arrived around 1:30 and they let us check in early which was a real Plus. After checking in we had mentioned that we have to get up and be at work by 4:00 a.m. and they do have a full breakfast which does not technically start until 6:00 a.m. but they made a special effort to have breakfast available for us at 3:00 a.m. the customer service was impeccable and special kudos to Daniela and Brooke you guys are the best and we look forward to staying here in the future always

Scott L.

Yelp
It's kinda basic. If you aren't lucky enough to have your own Tahoe ski house, this is a good lodging option that's all about location. Super convenient to I-80 and to Tahoe Donner Ski Resort. Also, Soda Springs & Sugar Bowl are just down the freeway a bit. Location is the main draw and 48 hour cancellation is good in case a storm blows through and ruins your weekend plans. Staff was friendly, rooms are fairly clean, but not fancy. Bathtub could use new grout - kinda corroded. Breakfast was adequate, although it's a sh*tshow in the AM with 40 people all scrambling for a place to sit and to get some of the food that they put out and a line 4-5 people long to get some coffee from the machine. You won't be impressed in the least by this place, but if you need a place to crash before and/or after skiing, it does the trick just fine.

Dennis H.

Yelp
This one surprises you. I had a free three day weekend without the Wife and Girls come up at the relative last minute. I knew the weekend after New Years would be rather busy, but a desperate hotel web search found this place at a rate that was very reasonable compared to similar hotels. The location has an advantage and disadvantage of being so close to I-80; you can access both Squaw Valley/Alpine and Northstar at roughly equal distance. You'll have to deal with the drive and parking to either mountain (although I don't know if they had a shuttle service). Check-in was very efficient, I think a couple of the staff were related and I suspect the business has family management. The property is dated but remarkably well-maintained. Rooms are very clean and all items were functional. Bed was comfortable as were the pillows. Televisions were relatively new, but didn't have Netflix/Hulu etc. I was there only a night so I really didn't get a chance to explore the amenities. The breakfast was waffles, muffins, and powdered eggs, the quality was along the lines of a Fairfield Inn or similar hotel. The parking lot needs an architect to take a look at space configuration, I know they have limited space but I swear it could be done better. Overall, this experience would have been four stars, decent enough at a value price. However, dumbass me left his phone behind after he checked out and went skiing for the entire morning before realizing he didn't have it. I drove to the hotel, asked the lady behind the desk, and she noted how she tried calling me and sending e-mails to find me. She would have found me one way or the other, and she was doing her best to get me my phone back...that kind of service must be recognized and for that reason I'd come back here again with pleasure.

Marie O.

Yelp
Great place to stay. Staff is so kind and helpful. Great view of the forest from our room. Continental breakfast was decent. Breakfast room can be used to visit and play games later. Nice walking path to Donner Lake from lodge.

Nilufar M.

Yelp
Completely scam policy regarding cancellation! I booked a room and COULD NOT USE it because the roads are closed. The refused to refund the money or even offer another date we could use the room and collected 400 dollars for room despite the fact that we had NO MEANS of getting to the hotel because there was no road access. Disgusted with their unethical business practices and unwillingness to at the very least move the reservation to a different date.

Dan B.

Yelp
Eastbound on 80, the first hotel you see in Truckee isn't all that bad. The Truckee Donner Lodge was one of the few places I could get a room with same-day notice on a summer Saturday. And not exactly a cheap room - $169 seemed a bit steep for such a no-frills place, but it was cheaper than a lot of other places nearby. I suppose it is a tourist area. Beyond that, I can't say too much more. An average room with average amenities. (Think Holiday Inn). Very clean. Free wi-fi was a plus. Bad room coffee was a minus (but they made up for it with good coffee in the lobby). The only other minus was the inability to close the curtains fully (I had to engineer something to block the streetlights from outside). I arrived late; I slept almost immediately; I woke at 7, showered and left quickly with coffee and a few snatched items from the continental breakfast bar. (they had eggs, but they looked like they might have been powdered) I'd stay again... but only after checking other places and prices first.

Cindy L.

Yelp
Five stars for the hotel- not base on the fancy level. Located conveniently nearby freeway. Room was comfortable, nice bedding, very clean. It is a lodge for skiing patronage therefore I think they meet the expectation. Breakfast is included. Very small area for you to get food, there is line. Nothing was great but bacon. They do have waffle fresh made by you which is nice. Front desk is very helpful. If you want a convenient, comfortable place to stay for your skiing visit. It is the right place for you.

Dennis T.

Yelp
Stayed there from Jan 13-15 2020. Decent place, rooms are good, clean and the staff is friendly. However being that said there are a couple of things, I feel I need to point out: * Breakfast: it was good but the selection was slim. * Heating/cooling system in the room: it is a antiquated system. You seem them a console on the fool near the window. It was hard to keep the room temperature just right. It was either too hot or too cold. Overall it is a decent room, despite its quirks.

Jason P.

Yelp
Great spot to stay in Truckee! Clean rooms, friendly staff and close to several ski resorts. I will be staying here whenever possible while up for snow days.

Alexandra V.

Yelp
This place was a top notch! It's clean, breakfast is included, accessible... but the best part was the service. Seriously the best! Celeste at the front desk was incredibly helpful, and the staff were friendly as well. We'd been in a car crash and were stranded in the area overnight and found TDL to be near where we were. They were accommodating, and went out of their way to help out-- couldn't have asked for a better spot.

Lisa C.

Yelp
Warm and convenient parking, beautiful view! Staff is not the best at welcoming or conversation. However, the rooms are spacious and super clean lux! Complimentary breakfast, with more than cereal and fruit ! 24 hr beverage bar (hot tea and chocolate) Wish they had more outlets near bed to charge tech... wish the flat screen was a bit bigger, this one is like 35in maybe 40...However. They have complimentary toiletries and a nice fridge, coffee, microwave, ironing board and hair dryer. Love the full mirror closet! They have convenient luggage carts to carry in your stuff and a nice fireplace sitting area to lounge! Decora is lodge modern. Unfortunately our bathtub leaked, which was a bummer bc it wouldn't stay full...and they only had 1 extra pillow available :/ They didn't mind checking us in early, the view from our window is the truckee river, blanketed in lovely snow, icicles hanging from the roof...it is a bit of a drive to Tahoe or downtown truckee, but worth it. Tahoe Donner Ski park is only 2.5 miles away, but we got lost trying to find it. There is so much snow, and they have a food & drink delivery driver, too! Best Western in Truckee is way better, their breakfast is a smorgasbourgh of amazing cooked food, this one is like cafeteria food. Best Western has like 100 board games to.play for families in the lodge sitting area and a much larger dining area!!! Their pool and spa are heated all year around, you can use the pool and spa while it is snowing and the snows melts on the pool grounds. The tubs are twice the size for bathing and the staff 100x friendlier, the elderly here seems to find you rude if you speak to hear with a smile or ask a question or try to strike up a conversation....? They have no playing cards and the best Western location in truckee is 30 seconds from the main strip while this location is farther...don't come here when there is a better option for the same price, go to the best Western in town!

Joseph D.

Yelp
Love this place! Can't wait to go back for our next trip to the snow. The lobby has a self serve hot chocolate, coffee, tea, etc. bar that is perfect for the morning before you hit the road or slopes. Also for the welcome drink that you'd receive when you stay in high class resorts, but without feeling as if you're under dressed!

Katie D.

Yelp
Me and my cousin got stuck in a winter storm and had to spend the night here. The woman at the front desk was incredibly kind and helped turn our night around. The hotel was nice and clean and the breakfast the next morning was definitely Covid friendly. I would definitely recommend this just based off the hospitality.

Ashley N.

Yelp
Very disappointed in this hotel and the owner. I had to cancel my reservation at the last minute due to the blizzard sweeping over the Tahoe area. I was not going to risk my life driving in these dangerous conditions and they refuse to give me a refund. Like someone else mentioned in their review, it's about principal over policy. Would you expect your children to drive in those conditions? Shame on this place. Stay far, far away!

Berles C.

Yelp
Beautiful inside and great view of the hills. Had a beet salad, roasted carrots and roasted chicken. I'm an experienced cook, and my chicken was raw. They had to take it back and recook it. My entire party finished their dinner before I got my dish back. Chicken was not exciting - no variance in flavor, skin was crispy but not well seasoned. The burger my husband had was good, but the fries were undercooked. I wouldn't return.

Brian R.

Yelp
Stayed here earlier in April through Hotwire. Just found a mystery $110 charge on my card that they they eventually refunded saying they accidentally charged me twice. Make sure to check your credit card if you stay here.

Scott S.

Yelp
Can't judge a hotel from the outside. Hotel looks great from the outside as we pulled up. Right off the freeway, very convenient. Lobby and front desk area is clean and overall nice. The front desk - could use a lesson on customer service. Not welcoming, I actually felt we were trouble to that person. The second floor has an ice machine that, smells like a machine getting worn out. You can smell it as soon as you get off the elevator. The sound coming from the machine was horrible. I could hear it in my room coming on and off all night long. The room - shows nice on initial walk in and has a great view of the river. Very nice. Now let's discuss what can be improved. Not enough blankets on the beds, thank goodness we had two queens as we had to double up the blankets. TV - size is fine but they went cheap with plugging cable directly into the TV with no way to get a guide or any sense of what channels are available. It took forever to find something that would be reasonable. Internet - slower than slow, turtle slow but slower. In fact they should not even say they provide internet. I had to iron a shirt and the ironing board is broken and unusable. They provide a desk to work at but don't even try that without moving the desk across the room to plug the computer in. Not well thought out at all. Bathroom in my room was not clean, grout is brown in the middle of the room and white as it should be around the sides. Have we heard of using a mop to clean on a regular basis. Recommend staying elsewhere.

Kate L.

Yelp
We stayed here for the first time a few weeks ago and it was great. The staff were really friendly, and they made sure we had somewhere to park since we arrIved late at nIght. The room was clean and the bed was comfy. Couldn't really ask for more.

Chirag P.

Yelp
Wonderful staff! We stayed on a Friday night and wanted to stay an extra night but they were booked. Liliana at the front desk worked her magic and we were able to keep our same 2 rooms. Clean and warm, will definitely stay again.

Veronica L.

Yelp
I sent an email asking to check in 1 hour early a week before my reservation. I never got a response. I called the day before and asked if it was possible to check in early and was told it might be possible. I arrived 30 mins early. My room wasn't ready, which is fine, and the front desk lady politely told me check in time is after 3. So, I sat down. I'm still here waiting at 3:45 pm. I have watched no less than 8 families/couples check in before me. No one has offered an apology or even acknowledged that I am still waiting. The lobby seems ok. At this point, I might as well take a nap by the lovely fireplace. I can't comment on the room because I haven't even seen it yet, but since I started typing this review, 2 more groups have checked in. If I could cancel and book a hotel that actually wants my business, I would. I will never stay here again. Update: we finally got checked in at 4 pm. On a positive note, the room was reasonably clean, and the location is great. Boreal is 15 mins away and has night skiing. Downtown Truckee is a 5 mins away and has plenty of decent restaurants/pubs. There is a large convenience store and a Taco Bell within walking distance if you need a snack. After skiing, we decided to use the hot tub, which is open til 10 pm. When we got outside, the pool area was very dark, and there was a cover on the hot tub. It looked closed, so we decided to go inside to ask. Getting inside was not as easy as it should have been. The card reader for the door into the hotel would not read our key card, so we had to walk around to the front. The front desk attendant explained the hot tub is open, it is dimly lit, and it is ok to remove the cover. We appreciated the clarification. When I told him about the door not working, he said, "Actually, it does. You don't even need the key. You just have to pull on it". Confused, we returned to the pool area to use the hot tub, which was relaxing and great. After using the tub, we tried once again to use our card to get back into the hotel. I thought maybe I just didn't do it right or something. Both of us tried it. Actually, it doesn't work, so we had to walk around to the front, dripping wet, through the lobby. I was cold and the clerk was on the phone, so I didn't bother to report it a second time. Some of the staff members are wonderful. The woman out, there was a different woman at the front desk. She was attentive and nice. Overall, this place is just ok. Some of the staff members would benefit from some customer service training. I understand that our room wasn't ready, but they could have acknowledged that we were still waiting while 10 other groups checked in. It would have gone a long way.

Yelp
The lodge is beautiful, the room was nice and it had a view of the forest. Skip the breakfast and go across the highway to the Coffeebar for real coffee

Yelp
Friendly, quiet, comfortable, clean. I almost passed on this hotel because of Yelp reviewers. But I'm so glad I booked here. It's the perfect hotel for skiing Sugar Bowl, Boreal, Donner Ranch, Soda Springs, or even Northstar or Squaw. I think Yelp is seriously broken sometimes, when people who enjoy a place tend not to rate a great place at all because nothing went wrong in their stay. And then the isolated negative experiences prompt negative reviews and sway the overall rating, which appears to be 3 stars at the moment. Silly Yelp. This is basically the Truckee Hampton Inn without the pool. At the same time, this is now my Tahoe base camp for adventures in the future, so it's fine if Yelp's reviewers create vacancies for me.

Yelp
I've been here a handful of times the past several years during the snow season. The location is convenient to the highway and to downtown truckee. Customer service is great, I've never had any issues with booking or late check ins. Breakfast is decent, lodge is average but I definitely stay here for the convenience factor. It's nice to be fairly close to everything, especially when traveling with children.

Yelp
Stayed here two times recently with somewhat mixed results. Lodge itself is an OK, three stars. My low-flow tub, a measly one star. But, good customer service always wins the day: Dana, front desk, is a master at "keeping the customer satisfied" in a fashion I rarely see in my many travels. WOW! At 6AM, I'm, bitching bout tubs, needing a pen or pencil. He gives me both and introduces himself, assuring prob will get fixed, as he carefully takes detailed notes. He loves customers; he loves attending to the details that keep them happy. And this quality is rarer than a Truckee night time temp of 90 degrees in April. Thank You, Dana.

Yelp
I had a wonderful stay at this hotel, mostly because of the kind staff. When I forgot my laptop, they let me work all night on the computer in the lobby and even offered to print for me (which I declined). The next morning they had printed out directions to the local library for me so I could work with a faster internet connection. The care they showed me was very appreciated. On top of that: comfy bed, clean room, spacious bathroom, great view, close to everything in town. Breakfast was bacon (the microwavable kind you get on a Subway sandwich, I think), pancakes, instant oatmeal, cold cereal, bagels, oranges, fruit, coffee, juice, and hot chocolate. For a free breakfast all I was expecting was gas station danish, sothis was a very pleasant surprise. I did not try the pool, but there is a pool as well. I definitely recommend you try this place for a low key stay in Truckee.

Yelp
I was pleasantly impressed with this place. Fantastic location *right off the highway so super easy to find! and the rooms were clean and bright. My only docking of a star was that the beds were kind of hard, but I loved that they had varying firmness of pillows and a TON of towels. As a family, we use towels for far more than just taking a shower so I was very appreciative that, even after using 3-4 hand/face towels for random things, we still had plenty :) The breakfast was fine, tasty but nothing fancy, but again plentiful. Actually the waffle I had was super yum. The coffee was not good.... sad to say I had better at Denny's the morning before (and that is not sayin much!). The women working the buffet were very sweet as well. Normally we stay in cabins in this area but I am glad we decided to stay here and we would again in a snap!

Yelp
I've stayed at this hotel several times over the years; initially when it was a Holiday Inn Express, and a few times after it became independent. This is an adequate place to stay, but with just a little effort to improve service and the breakfast, it could be so much better. On the PRO side, the rooms are large. They have a microwave and small refrigerator. The bathroom has a wide vanity top. The closet is large. The furniture is nice. The towels are thick and white. And the beds are made up with three sheets (one on top). On the CON side, the breakfast is barely adequate. The coffee is weak. The eggs and sausage don't taste very good. The bagels and muffins seem stale. More significantly, the service we encountered was very bad. The TV remote in our room did not work - buttons did unexpected things, and it was impossible to use the TV. We phoned down to the desk and were told there were extra remotes there. My husband went to retrieve one, but we held on to the broken one until we were sure we had something that worked. The person working at the desk complained that she was giving up her last working remote, and what was she supposed to do now? She said she had 4 broken ones. Then, when we didn't have the broken one to turn in, instead of just asking us to drop it off, she threatened my husband with charging him for the remote if he did not immediately return with it. Someone needs to give staff lessons on how to deal with their guests.

Yelp
Five stars and I didn't even stay there! We were on a long road trip and had fallen behind in bad traffic in Vacaville, Sacramento, and coming up I80. We pulled in to TDL (where we have stayed in the past) to see if they had any room for the two of us and our pet. They said they don't take pets, but they knew a place down the road that did. They actually called ahead to see if there were any rooms available and there were so we were good to go. How fabulous to stumble into truly helpful front desk people who wanted to see that we were taken care of. We had stayed at TDL many years ago and next time we're in the area (without the pet), we'll stay there again.

Yelp
I toured this hotel earlier this year and gave its name to a number of family as a place to stay during our wedding in August. Months ago, the groom's father and mother each booked a room at this hotel through expedia and hotel.com. They were charged for the rooms. The groom's mother called to double check that everything was set for the wedding, which is a few days away. She was informed that they were no reservations for her or the groom's father. She was told that Expedia must have cancelled it. She called Expedia, who said they did not cancel it. Expedia called the hotel and the hotel confirmed to Expedia that they overbooked and cancelled the reservations without informing anyone. I am outraged that this is how they treat customers. The groom's parents are left without a place to stay with only days left before the wedding, despite having their plans in place for months. They will have trouble finding any rooms because everything is booked. They will be forced to pay more for a last minute room elsewhere because of this hotel's error. I now have to personally reach out to all my guests and make sure they didn't book with this hotel so that they are not stranded next weekend. I am severely disappointed in this hotel's actions and poor customer service. I'm disgusted that the hotel would cancel reservations and throw customers to the curb to make an extra buck. Unless this hotel significantly changes their policies and behaviors in this future, do not book a reservation here. You could be left stranded in Truckee without notice and without another option.

Yelp
Comfortable and friendly. Bed was very comfortable and, for anyone chemically sensitive and trying to travel safely, not a problem at all for me (I am very chemically sensitive). Bed, sheets, room, towels, soaps, were unscented. Bed was really comfortable, with no smell. Quite quiet, also. Small fridge and I think coffee maker in the room. Good shower, unscented towels. If we're ever in that area again, I'd definitely stay there again. Near the Donner Museum, Lake Tahoe, Reno.

Yelp
I'm giving the lodge a one star not because they don't have a good hotel, but because on March 16 power was lost and the whole place was dark. None of the emergency lights worked. Nothing in stairway, hallways, exit signs. I had to go back to my work site to get portable lights. I asked attending manager is she knew when power could be restored and she said I'll give you the number to call ???? Like that is my job. I had to take a cold shower after working 12 hours. I should have taken a dip in the lake.
