The food and treats are great qualities, my cat loves all of them. But she loves the catnip pillows the most, she’d attack me if i take it away lol

This place is great. The variety is the absolute best, I haven't found a store with this wide of a range in good quality products. The owner Dave is 10/10, I don't think I've ever talked to anyone more passionate or committed to their work. He goes WAY above and beyond to give you advice and try to understand your pup and find solutions. I just can't say enough good things. Sometimes I will call just for advice. I have a large dog so I have ordered hundreds of pounds of raw/dehydrated dog food over the years and I have barely ever had any concerns. My concerns were the reactions my dog had and they have addressed the issue QUICKLY and thoughtfully, to my satisfaction. They deserve every single 5-Star Review. I don't expect them to have all the answers, which no one should, but I know they will do their best and literally walk the journey with you to try to help. I couldn't ask for anything more. I love my dog and they make it easy to care for her. I have never met Dave in person, just over the phone and just with those interactions and the time he gave to me, he has left a lasting impression. Thank you Dave and the TC Team!

i have been ordering from true carnivores for years and they never disappoint. the product quality is consistently excellent, and the customer service is outstanding. the staff are always attentive and helpful. orders arrive reliably and on time every single time.

As a first time buyer, I am happy with shopping from them. I placed the order on Sunday afternoon, received the email on Monday to pick up and picked the orders on Tuesday. My puppy is happy about the bully chews. Thank you True Carnivores!

I live in the states where the most natural diets and treatments are never recommended, so when my older dog who has been on a meat only diet had some minor health issues today I knew I needed some advice from some smarter people north of the boarder, while my mother, stuck in the American brainwash system, called the vet here in town. The results American Veterinarian - 3 drug recommendations without even seeing the dog. (Had we actually went, I am certain it would have been a misdiagnosis and we would be stuck managing unnecessary side effects for God knows how long) True Carnivores - This was the first shop that came up and the woman I spoke with provided great advice, confirmed my suspicions, made me more confident in what I was feeding my dogs, and provided a recommendation for a holistical animal healer. Several hours after deciding a 1-2 day fast for my doggo would be the correct treatment, she's back up and moving around and I couldn't be happier that I called this business. This place is amazing and she loves her new treats. Heaven's knows she has a lot of treats in her cupboard (she literally has her own 4 footer cabinet) but she still had many treats she liked that we didn't have. Finding quality treats that have no fillers and junk ingredients is still quite the quest at local mom and pop shops as the retail stores generally mix poor quality with higher quality options and it can be quite the time consuming task to weed through the options and sort through "fake" higher quality treats (like some treats maybe be organic... but then you find things like filler potato as an ingredient and this becomes and automatic NOPE) ‍ I'm so thrilled this store exists. Can't wait to go back and poke around more throughly.

I was shopping in the area and decided to pop into this pet shop. This place wasn't big, but they do carry items I wouldn't normally find in Tisol so that was pretty good. I was looking for variety and something different. The staff was knowledgeable about the products and was able to recommend some tasty treats for cats and dogs as I was buying a surprise gift for a friend. I like that their products were very healthy!

Disneyland for raw feeders. You can find most raw brands here and I love that the staff are so knowledgeable. New to raw feeding? Ask them for recommendations. They're generous about samples too especially if your dog's picky. I love buying online from them. The website is easy to navigate and their delivery schedule is so awesome. Not a lot places allow you to order the night before a delivery!!

This is the best location for frozen raw foods, natural treats and friendly staff. They remember all the dogs, are knowledgeable about alternative meds, like cannabis for pain, and natural supplements

Good location and selection, hit and miss quality - avoid the frost bite. The man I could only guess is the owner is often lashing out at staff in front of customers, condescending and brash, unless you're a cute girl. When I'm in with my wife, he's completely night and day. C'est la vie!

True Carnivores is absolutely awesome! A friend recommended them as I moved my indoor cat to a raw food diet - not only does he love it but he's lost weight, his coat is healthier, and he's much calmer. We're both super happy with the switch and love that the store will deliver directly to our front door. During the COVID-19 pandemic, the team is working diligently to ensure that our pets have their food. After experiencing a delivery delay for the food I usually get, I reached out to ask for recommendations on an alternative. Not only did the team take the time to recommend a product based on what my cat was already eating but they double checked on delivery times too, in case there was a chance I didn't have to make a change. Thank you for thinking of our pets as your own, for being open, honest, and knowledgeable about your products, and for being essential workers now and always.

They do not carry bone meal. Good selection, some items cheaper like Primal Raw Goat's milk but some outright expensive when u can get chicken neck for $1/lb with your local butcher. Overall has the most raw food selection in Vancouver. 3 stars because guy who looks like the owner provided freebies to the girl ahead of me in the line up as well as the guy behind me. To add to insult to injury, I'm also a first time customer and I am buying what he was just giving away for free. Just didn't feel nice and I felt like I wasn't as important. Treat your customers equally. Their sales staff are friendly. Update: No, it wasn't Chinese New Year when I dropped by - def no red envelopes. I think an average person would know a free giveaway bec of a promotion/event vs one that was given as a "sample" on case per case basis. No big deal so long as long as this was an isolated event. I did end up buying your egg shell powder that day. Thanks for the info on the bone meal and non-medicated chicken necks (good to know). I do usually buy straight from butcher shops (no hormones) etc...so I understand slightly higher prices for convenience. Cheers

First time at True Carnivores and left with a great first impression. This place is filled with so much raw protein that it is overwhelming and fun all at the same time. There is freeze dried and frozen options for you to choose from and a variety of proteins: beef, venison, wild boar, llama, pork, fish, chicken, turkey, and many more! The staff are also very friendly and helpful. It was very busy while we were shopping and the staff were patient and answered all my questions and concerns. The owner was also very pleasant and suggested some of their bulk items like smelt for omega and tripe bites when he saw that we were purchasing lamb tripe. They also have an excellent selection of treats too! I look forward to coming back.

OMG! I am raving about this place and I have not even tried or received their products yet.....seriously! I am in an emergency situation where I am suddenly caring for my adult daughter's dog. I knew she shopped here because the entire family noticed a marked improvement in the appearance of Charlie, her Golden Retriever once he started to eat their products. I phoned up -- bewildered of where to begin and what to order. (I did look at the website first but was not sure what to order....) From then on it was so easy because of the friendly and professional service of wonderful PEGGY!! She looked up my daughter's account, gave me excellent advice... then let me place my order with her. (Thank you.) But what put it over the top for me was that several hours later, she phoned me to advise that if I ordered just $6 more I could get free delivery. (I ordered rabbits feet cuz I know I'm so lucky to find these caring, thoughtful people.) Bravo!!!

after much trial and error i found myself walking in the doors of True Carnivores last fall and haven't looked back since. I've read a lot of the other reviews here and agree with some and disagree with others but i guess each experience is unique. i will say i like that after our second chat (i was dealing with a dog with food allergies and i think i was probably banned from several stores in vancouver with all my questions) David remembered me and my dog and her issues. maybe not important to some of you, but for me that puts me at ease. secondly david admits to not knowing everything and that every dog is unique and not everything works the same way all the time. so Hope and I are happy visiting David. I went in to purchase a product that their website listed at a price lower than the in-store price. Further, while waiting for the owner--who delayed my check-out so he could cash out someone else although I was there first--I noticed another bottle of the product priced at less than the one he was planning on ringing Through. When I asked about this, I was told it was a pricing error. At this point, I mentioned that I had noticed it for less on the website. The owner couldn't find it at first, stating the website doesn't necessarily carry the same products as the retail outlet, but did find it after I suggested searching by its actual name, not just the manufacturer. The price was $4 less online than in the store. Rather than just give me the product for the online price as a goodwill gesture, he went on to explain how the online store is a completely separate entity from the brick-and-mortar shop and that I was paying extra for customer service. I didn't need any customer service in this case; just the product. He suggested that I purchase it online with my phone. I explained I didn't have a smart phone and that I traveled by bus from downtown to get to his store and that it wasn't worth it to go back home to order it online, then come back to the store to pick it up. At this point, he could've easily adjusted the price for me, again in the spirit of goodwill and customer retention, or sold me the bottle that was already marked at $25.95. Don't good retailers honor their pricing errors?? I'm quite certain they do! But no, the best he would do is split the difference with me and reduced the cost by $2. Because I care about my cat and my time more than quality customer service in this particular instance, I took the $2 discount offer and left with the product. I will NOT be returning!

The owner and staff are knowledgeable, friendly, polite and very helpful! There is a great raw food selection here and they have an excellent selection of natural treats for dogs. I highly recommend this business to any dog or cat owner. My dogs love their treats from True Carnivores. We have also tried their cold pressed oil, pet probiotics and CBD oil.

DISHONEST SNEAKY PEOPLE FOR $. I purchased SMACK dehydrated raw food recommended by the manager. She was hesitant when I ask if they would stand behind their product if it doesn't work. She said only if less then 25% was consumed. Less then a week, I return with SMACK and claim that the food was too hard causing my dog to vomit. The owner said my dog has Pancreatic problem. Try to sell me supplements, and suggested I grind the food smaller before feeding. I tried but my dog still vomit. I returned the food, didn't want a refund, but replacement of other food. I ask to leave the balance credit in my account as I like to trust them. Then I realize she actually charged me the for the 25% my dog had consumed (which made him sick). Sneaky people... and not up front, that's what made me upset. I run a business myself and know they can get a full refund on that bag of food I gave back to them. Their commend cause my concern, also because of the vomiting, so I had my dog checked at the vet and had blood work done for Pancreatic issue. Result came out as most healthy Pancreas. Disgusting commend on my dog and what they would do to make a profit. They are happy if you are buying. Then when problem arise, their face turn and greed. They can keep the money in my account because they seem to need the money. I will never go back.

I'm that owner that will spend a lot of money on my dogs food without hesitation. Just like any family member they deserve the best! That being said true carnivores is the best! My dog has many different food allergies and they seem to be the only place that has pure meats without veggies and all the extras if you have a highly sensitive dog. My dog just recently decided he wouldn't eat his usual food which I stocked up heavy on. True carnivores exchanged the food for me no problem. I really appreciated that and for that I will always continue to support this great business. Thanks again!

No doubt that Raw food is certainly the way to go in providing the best nutrition for your pet. My dog loves the food products offered at this establishment and can't get enough. However our sales rep here was extremely pushy for a large purchase, rude, and advocated practises that, when checked against three Vets, turned out to be dangerous. "If she throws up, get over it. Diarroea, get over it....bile... that's just natures way of detoxifying" Vomiting, and diarrhoea aren't just willy nilly things to not mind in the care of an animal. With a raw diet the threat of salmonella is a real concern which a pet owner should be mindful of and be sensitive to its possible symptoms. Shame on you pushy sales rep. Terrible experience but a good product. I'd rather drive as far as maple ridge rather than returning.

I do not understand how True Carnivores gets less than 5 stars. Every single time I've been in the store, the staff and owner are nothing less than wonderful. The staff are knowledgeable and never ever pushy! Although I only go in to buy treats and snacks for my pets (have not converted to raw food diet) they have never spoke to me in a condescending manner. You can just tell that David the owner is passionate about animals and I never leave the store without a handful of free samples to feed my puppy and my two cats. Another point I want to make is their FURminator brushes are ridiculously well priced at around $20.00. You can't buy FURminator brushes for less than $50.00 at most pet stores!

We stumbled into this shop while visiting Michele's Cake Shop nearby. I thought it was a toy store and only realized it was a raw food pet store after entering. The staff were super friendly and approachable. They realized we were out of our element and started to ask questions about our pooch and his food regimen. I'll admit that I've been curious about a raw food diet for dogs given the number of food allergies that are common to our breed. They went through the pros/cons and allowed us to ask a gazillion questions. They maintain binders of information on commercial dog foods and were able to look up our brand to show us what's in it. Very patient and informed staff -- and extremely passionate about raw food. We left with a free sample! Our pup *loved* the food and practically inhaled it. He looked around the kitchen as if to inquire, "is there any more?". We're headed back this afternoon to buy a week's worth and see if it does indeed help with our dog's itching problem. I would highly recommend visiting if you have any curiosity about raw food.

I don't usually write reviews. And I'll admit my experience with True Carnivores has been limited to the past 6 months. But, I try to visit in person because I feel like there is genuine interest in me and my two guys (cats - Haida and Gwaii). And the person (besides the owner) who has made me a real convert is Peggy. (I hope I have your name right.) This kind of customer attention is why people patronize businesses. Thank you for being such a great resource.

Superb service, very informative and friendly staffs. They have a large selection of raw food for both dogs and cats. The owner also gave me some dried snacks for my dog to sample! If you want to start feeding your pets a raw diet and is not sure where to start, I would recommend coming to this place.

When I had Freedom I did actually get some treats from here. They were so good that I guess we in theory could eat them, however, this was strictly for the pup. Great staff and great natural quality of pure items.

Nice (but expensive) selections of raw food for dogs and cats. Sales guy was smarmy, overly talkative, and super old school in his sales technique. It was so annoying that I won't ever return. I've been feeding my pets raw for over 10 years. I only went in to check out their selection and prices, but ended up on the receiving end of a relentless monologue. The guy also raced around the store to bring out one of everything he thought he needed to show me in order to give me a raw dog food education - one I didn't need or ask for. My advice to this retailer: listen more, talk less. Then you might have me as a repeat customer.

We've been coming to True Carnivores to see David and his wonderful team of experts for the last couple years. Not only is it a treat for our little dogs, but it's a delight for us as well. Everyone here is extremely knowledgeable, and have never recommended anything that was excessive for our dogs. They've even advised us from over-purchasing and either given us small samples to test or had us check it out online first. The level of care here is something that's been hard to beat in the city. We especially love their free delivery service with purchases above $50 - their new online order system is just amazing. Piece of cake to use and lets you know exactly what you're buying. We stock up our freezer with food always ready to go for the dogs (which they really appreciate). Really happy with the service and value - will keep us coming again and again!

My husband and I (with 2 dogs in tow, one a puppy) stopped in to check out this store and we were simply amazed at the selection they carry. We have tons of raw food stores in Calgary AB but none even come close in selection! Three rooms full of freezers! We were able to pick up things that we have a tough time finding for the dogs in Calgary like packages of frozen fish and entire duck carcasses! Vancouver is very lucky to have a place like this! I think we will even stock up for our drive home!

Suan is either a sales rep for another place or completely ignorant. All staff here is great and very helpful. I get my lab her raw chicken once every few weeks and have been given free samplers of other items and treated like gold.

Great pet store, the staff is always friendly and helpful. My little Shih Tzu Kobi is very grateful to David for sending me home today with some freeze dried tripe for him to try....he loves it!

Everytime I've been here the staff have been very stuck up and unhelpful. An older man who worked there creepily told me I smelled amazing and asked what perfume I was wearing. Obviously, I never came back after that. The food selection is very limited, and when I asked for dry cat food, they told me that that was terrible for my cat and that I shouldn't feed her dry food, even after I explained she literally wouldn't eat wet food and lost weight when I tried anything other than dry food.

Really good place to go if you want quality food/treats for your pet! But, of course, mostly their products are raw-based.

I felt like a kid in a candy store here! I have 4 cats and have been feeding raw food for almost 6 years. My meat grinder finally broke and in my search for raw cat food, my Google search led me to this place. WOW. I wish I knew about this place earlier. The raw meat was even better priced than when I used to make it myself (and without the clean up). Fantastic prices, so many choices of raw meat, cat treats (freeze dried venison, salmon jerky, dehydrated chicken hearts, duck liver, various dried organs, dried and canned sardines, and more), goat's milk (humanely sourced!), and so many cat toys and other cool things that I never would have even thought of. They had dried rabbit ears for cats to chew on. One of my cats loved it! (the others showed no interest). I stocked up on various treats and raw meat patties. All of the cats loved everything. One of my cats particularly enjoyed the goat's milk - she is a 20 year old, recovering street cat that we rescued, and I've never seen her so happy! The gentleman working in the shop was very knowledgeable, helpful, friendly, and gave me several kinds of food samples for my cats to try. They have, of course, a ton of things for dogs as well. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone. I cannot wait to come back!

We went in and the smell inside the store was off. Makes me wonder about the safety of feeding raw to the dogs. I would rather shop at another store to buy our raw food. I recommend a pass this store up.

I have been feeding my pets (cats and dogs) a raw diet since the mid 90's. At that time True Carnivores was a pioneer in this area and I would make the trip from Strathcona to Kerridale to get specialty meats for my first dog. I hadn't been for years but recently was in the area and stopped in to get the large bag of dried anchovies. How wonderful it was to find True Carnivores under new super enthusiastic ownership. David engaged my attention immediately with current information about new products. He spent a lot of time with me calculating how I could save money and feed my two cats and two dogs a top notch raw meat diet. I have now added the Carnivora Bison Diet and Beef Tripe to my raw diet repertoire based on the owner's inpeccable product knowledge and dedication to quality product. To top it all off I can now order and pay online and delivery is free of charge. No needing to drive all the way over to Kerrisdale anymore. The website and online shopping is thorough and this week I even ventured into new products. When I spoke with David (the owner) on the phone with a few questions he was open to my inquiries and we had yet another confirming conversation about new products. Once the delivery arrived at my door the lovely employee announced that David had included some free samples for my cats. I am completely impressed yet again. I just can't go wrong shopping at True Carnivores. Thank you once again for your awesome service and customer care!

My dog and I love this place. When I first started Roxy on raw, David spent time testing the foods she would eat and he's been a source of knowledge and yummy treats ever since. An incredible selection of raw food,treats and supplements, as well as toys and accessories. He turned us on to freeze dried raw cat food after Roxy went through a period of not eating due to illness this spring. She LOVES it! Great store, great people!
