True History Brewing

Was so glad to get a “Sunday Roast”. And neat to try an instagram famous spot. One of my dining companions however counted more than 5 roasts being served—but maybe that’s a misnomer advertised on the socials. Fun to try the different cola. As an avid Diet Coke drinker, this was nice to be forced to try something out of my comfort zone, but close! Nice bright atmosphere. Shared long harvest table type seating worked out surprisingly well. Personally I wouldn’t order the pork again as it was quite fatty and messy to eat especially when trying to share it family style…but to be fair I was invited by a friend that really wanted to try it!

I’ve worked in the beer industry for 8 years— True History is a real gem in the city. My favourite spot to sit and play board games on a Sunday afternoon. High quality beers, poured the traditional German way— their Mliko pours are my favourite. If you’re scared of a little head, perhaps a King St pub would suit you better. Their beer is high quality and I’m always looking forward to their next release. Their 0.5% non-alcoholic (yes, legally a non-alc drink is 0.5 or less) is really tasty. Service is always prompt and informative, if we’re ever in between a few beers the staff are friendly and passionate about helping you out. I’ve only had small plates from Beisl and they slap! I love the laid back vibe the space has, and the communal tables make it seem very community-oriented.

Incredible experience here. Delicious food and beer, this place is definitely worth ALL the hype. The kitchen did close between 3-5PM on this past Saturday. Very much assuming that’s a normal thing on a busy weekend, however didn’t see that advertised anywhere. Luckily made it in earlier enough to get a food order in. The bar is cozy as well, but be warned their seating is a few long tables where you will be sat directly beside other parties. Not that big of a deal but if you’re wanting an intimate dining experience it’s not going to be here. For sure adds to the vibe though. Other than that again, delicious food and beer. Can’t wait to see this place have all the continued success.

I love it here. Staff are friendly, every dish on the menu is delish, unique, and fresh. Beers are creative. Atmosphere is cosy and the patio is the best in the area for a summer drink or meal outside. I love the fact that the patio is on the side street and there are tons of plants surrounding it. Great newer Brewery with traditional Australian food from the kitchen. The beer is mostly classic European styles with an emphasis on lagers. Worth going out of your way if you like that style. Some of the best lagers in the city and they tap a French keg every Friday! Fass bier!

This fine brewery offers some really nice beers that are brewed fresh on site. Trestle tables encourage patrons to interact with one another as the world flows by on the other side of the large windows looking out onto St. Claire Avenue. On every visit staff have been friendly, warm and welcoming. Although I have yet to try the food the smells wafting from the kitchen are absolutely mouth watering! If you enjoy good beer and good company then this is the place for you. Keep up the great work!

Went there to have a meal but unfortunately everything they serve has some form of pork in it. So we ordered drinks including a non alcoholic Weihenstephaner Hefeweizen but it actually had 0.5% alcohol. Disappointed the serve didnt know and the restaurant advertising it as non alcoholic.

Eastern European inspired food that seemed really authentic. Some of the best microbrew beer I've had in the city. Staff forgot about us for a bit for some reason but definitely made up for it with a free round. Definitely recommended for a beer or food. Nice patio, too.

What a hidden gem of a brewery!! The menu isn't terribly long, but we enjoyed both our beers: the Banana Hefeweizen and the Dark Mexican Lager. It's a fun atmosphere inside reminiscent of a cozy alpine beer hall with communal tables and fund snacks on the menu. They even have a few games to play. Would definitely come back!

Fun brewery in a heritage looking building with a central European vibe. There's bar seating, table seating and a side patio for warmer weather. The brew list is largely house made classic German/Czech styles. The beers are really clean, true to style and well made. True History recently added a food menu in cooperation with Beisl. The menu is homey German/Austrian. I had a crunchy and flavourful schnitzel paired well with greens tossed in a tart sauce on the side. Service is very kind and welcoming. A laid back feel to this spot.

Great location and seems a little under the radar. They have a great light beer selection and some great finger food options. The service was also great, with an attentive server. They have a nice little patio section so visiting in the summer would be a nice alternative seating. They also sell some of their beers to-go.

Good beer (I got the Polish Pilsner twice) & will try the Porter next time. The food (pretzel & bratwurst) look good too! As an aside, the picture looks that way because this amount of foam is the proper way to pour beer in Germany.

Cool space, great beer! In particular really liked the kölsch. @truehistory where are your flower arrangements from?
