The other day I was in London, so decided to have my hair cut in Truefitt & Hill; I had heard many good things about them, such as a previous client being Sir Winston Churchill.
Their website claims that they only employ ‘master barbers’, however they seemed to be on holiday, as I left looking like an 18th century 8 year old (which I can assure you, I am not).
The service was alright, nothing amazing, the same I would have in any usual place, I have heard horror stories of extraordinarily poor service on Google however, I can assure you, the service was not too bad.
To follow are the positives and negatives of my haircut.
Positives:
- The back and top have been done rather well.
Negatives:
- Electric clippers were used throughout the haircut, I estimate that they took up 40% of the time.
- For the short amount of time that scissors were being used, a comb was never used to help ‘guide’ my hair into the right shape (unlike every other establishment I have been to).
- I had my hair washed whilst bending over, leading to a very unpleasant amount of water and shampoo going in my face.
- The sides of my hair were far too short, especially in comparison to the top and back.
- My sideburns were not even cut to the same level as each other. One is approximately 8 millimetres shorter than the other.
- The barber said when he had finished “If you had it last cut a month ago, this is how short it would be”. Such an attempt at justification shows just how poor this haircut was.
I think a blind paraplegic could have done a better job with a blunt axe.
To conclude, the haircut was extremely poor quality, not worth £60 in the slightest (a good haircut would, however this was not).
