I recently swung by Treufitt & Hill on Jermyn Street and really liked the vibe. The place has a cool history going all the way back to 1805, which gives it some serious old-school charm. Their haircuts and hot towel shaves are solid, but what really caught my attention was their grooming products, especially the perfumes. They’ve got that classic English style that I’m into. If you’re into quality service and a traditional British feel, this spot’s definitely worth a visit.

I ordered the Ultimate Pre-Shave Ritual specifically from the GIFT section of Truefitt & Hill’s website — not the shaving section, not a general product listing, but the Gifts category. Any reasonable person would assume this means it arrives as an actual gift set, especially from a brand that constantly pushes its “English heritage,” tradition, and professionalism. I had no choice but to order online and even paid for next-day delivery to get this in time for a birthday. What arrived? No gift box No set Just loose, individual items thrown together Absolutely nothing that qualifies as a “gift set” This is plainly misleading, and under the Consumer Protection from Unfair Trading Regulations 2008, it is potentially unlawful. A business cannot misrepresent a product or omit material information that would impact a purchasing decision — and selling unboxed products under a “Gifts” category with zero warning is exactly that. The entire point of buying a gift — especially from a brand selling prestige — is the presentation. Instead, this completely ruined the gift moment. So the whole thing is now sitting useless in my closet, because it cannot be gifted in the state it arrived. And let me make one thing absolutely clear: I don’t want to hear the excuse that “the store and the website are separate.” I am reviewing the entire brand, not your internal departments. If that’s the explanation you try to hide behind, it says a lot about the brand’s standards, consistency, and respect for customers. I have already raised a formal complaint with the company, and I will escalate the matter further through every appropriate consumer and regulatory channel. A disgraceful experience and an embarrassment for a brand that claims to care about heritage and professionalism.

Google
I’ve followed Truefitt & Hill for years and have always associated the brand with heritage, craftsmanship and genuinely high quality products. Because of that reputation, my expectations were understandably high. The beard oil itself is actually very good, pleasant scent, good consistency, and performs well. Unfortunately, the bottle lets the product down badly. The packaging feels extremely low quality: lightweight, cheap to the touch, and completely at odds with the premium positioning of the brand. For a heritage name known for attention to detail, the bottle was genuinely disappointing and not something I would expect, let alone want, at this price point. It’s a shame, because the oil deserves better. Packaging is part of the experience, especially for a brand like Truefitt & Hill, and in this case it significantly detracts from what should be a premium product. I hope this is something the brand revisits, as the formulation itself is strong but the presentation simply doesn’t match the legacy.

I had an exceptional experience at Truefitt & Hill in London. (Traditional shaving masterclass) Michael delivered a first-class shave — precise, professional, and incredibly relaxing. Afterward, he took the time to explain the essentials of a proper straight-razor shave, which was both informative and much appreciated. I will definitely book another appointment with Michael on my next visit to London. Overall, a fantastic experience that I can highly recommend to anyone looking for top-tier grooming and service.

Excellent service and attention from these expert barbers. Christian gave me a wet shave and cut my hair - I was very pleased with the outcome. The range of shavers, creams and colognes is second to none. I bought a lovely West Indian Lime after shave which has received positive comments from my friends. I'll be returning soon.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ A Truly Unforgettable Royal Experience My deepest thanks to David, who made this possible, and to everyone at Truefitt & Hill. Experiences like this rarely happen to someone like me, but on Armistice Day 2025, they truly did. “Wow”, thank you all at Truefitt & Hill for making David and me feel so good. David arranged for us to visit Truefitt & Hill after attending the Cenotaph with our families, a bucket-list moment made possible thanks to David and Anne, to whom I am deeply grateful for a memory that will never fade. What followed at Truefitt & Hill was truly moving. From the moment we stepped inside, Maria welcomed us with warmth, professionalism, and genuine compassion. She noticed my military medals and thanked me for my service, a humbling gesture I will never forget. I mentioned that we were attending a prestigious awards ceremony that evening where David and Anne were finalists, and Maria’s thoughtful congratulations made the whole experience feel even more personal. This was my first-ever facial, and I’ll admit I was a bit nervous, but Jason took exceptional care of me, explaining every step and putting me completely at ease. The treatment left my skin refreshed and rejuvenated. David had a shave, and both of us were treated like VIPs, like royalty. The service from Maria, Jason, and Panos was flawless from start to finish. Then came an extraordinary moment: while waiting outside for David, an elegant lady approached me in a busy London street to thank me for my military service. I thanked her sincerely on behalf of all who have served. In a flash, she brought me back inside and asked Maria to give me any treatment as recognition for my service. Only later did I learn she was Joanna Broughton, the owner. Her kindness, humility, and respect for the armed forces showed the very best of humanity. “Wow.” It was profoundly moving. To complete an already incredible day, I am thrilled to share that later that evening, David and Anne won their award, an outstanding achievement. They looked a million dollars on stage, with David’s fresh, crisp shave courtesy of Truefitt & Hill. If you want to make someone feel truly special or experience world class grooming and hospitality, I wholeheartedly and unequivocally recommend Truefitt & Hill. Joanna’s compassion, elegance, and genuine care clearly flow through every part of this timeless, stunning establishment. It was a day David and I will never forget. Thank you to everyone at Truefitt & Hill, especially Joanna, for your generosity gift, kindness, graceful and elegant compassion. And thank you to Maria, Jason, and Panos for your caring professionalism and exceptional etiquette. This was a truly exceptional, royal, luxurious, and impeccable experience. Kindest regards, John & David

I bought a shaver a few years ago online. I then bought two more as presents for my nephews. They were great! Mine got dropped or something and was damaged and they kindly replaced it free of charge. An amazing service, and wonderful people and products!

Panos gave me a nice fade and beard trim, with razor clean up. Solid experience. Would highly recommend Panos! It was so clutch traveling from Philadelphia to get a nice haircut

Yelp
I have had my hair cut here once a month and also tried their ultimate grooming experience. Aldo, one of their barbers, made me feel welcome and left me feeling sharp and looking my best. Highly recommend for any gentleman looking for a quality service.

Brian M.

Yelp
In the realm of hair mastery at Truefitt & Hill, Aldo stands out as exceptional. My haircut journey with him was more than just a trim; it was an experience. Aldo not only snipped away with finesse, but he also shared some sage wisdom on amplifying my fade game. The guy went the extra mile, staying a bit overtime with out complaint, just to ensure my cut was on point. He's carrying on the legacy of Truefitt & Hill with a touch of his own magic. Major props to Aldo for making my haircut memorable and making me feel like more than just a customer. I guarantee making an appointment here will be worth extending that layover in Heathrow by a few hours.

Yelp
I had a vile experience. I have been a loyal customer of T&H for over ten years both in London and Singapore - there was something magical about an old style barbers. I arrived with my wife who accompanied me since this was a birthday treat. She had arranged one of the extended shave and haircut experiences. We were very quickly turned away although we had all the online documentation and were able to show it on an ipad - there was no doubt whatsoever we were the bona fide customers. But they wanted the paper copy of the appointment. We were made to feel like shoplifters or grifters - and the whole situation panned out in front of other customers. It was a huge embarrassment. Truefitt and Hill broke the magic - we will not be going back. We are appalled that a shop will treat you in this manner. If you are thinking about going to T&H think again - don't take the risk of being treated like a criminal.

Yelp
I was surprised I had not written a review for this place but it's the original men's grooming shop, and continues to maintain a royal commission. They'll give you a great haircut but they also have unique and useful grooming products for sale, and you'll almost feel like you're in a hotel, from when you book your appointment to when you leave. Classy, confidential, and courteous.

Yelp
Having never treated myself to a cut throat shave, I thought I would treat myself the next time I was in London. Obviously there are many shops to choose from. However, having read the reviews I decided to give these fine folks a try. Although this is an expensive luxury, it was worth every penny. It was a very relaxing and enjoyable experience at the hands of an expert. If you're looking for a top-of-the-line shave, start here first! I will definitely return the next time I'm in London.

Yelp
Another fantastic men's grooming store not to be missed. Very friendly staff and knowledgeable about the product line they sell. A favorite shaving cream of mine is the "1805" brand and Grafton street. Also very convenient if you would like to test the aroma of these fine products!

Yelp
I have been a customer of T&H for some time using their shaving products. They are great! While in London in 2016 and this June, I got a wet shave and a haircut Perfection! You have to experience a wet shave if you have never

Yelp
I was in London last week and I was very happy to visit your shop, 71 Saint James's Street, City of Westminster. It was Monday the 5th of December. Thus I bought a gift to offer to a Friend in France: a Beard balm and a beard oil. The Lady who sold me the products put them directly in a pouch. When I returned to Toulouse in France I was really disappointed when the friend for whom I bought the gift opened the pouch and we discovered that the Lady-seller has given me two testers instead of the products (the photos are attached). One of the testers (the balm) was already used and not a new one. I am really angry and disappointed: I have paid for two "luxury grooming items for gentlemen" and instead I was given testers. This is not really respectful of customers! I am also surprised that sellers in a well-known label such as Truefitt and Hill can do this for a customer.

Yelp
A visit to London by a Gentleman is not complete without visiting truefitt and Hill for a traditional barber shop experience. Badger brush and curthroat combine to give you the best shaving experience ever.

Yelp
Maybe it's just London but for the price, haircut, and shave I do feel it was expensive 90 GBP. I do think the staff is polite and they did take me even though they only had an hour before closing. Another up side is the atmosphere, the barber shop feels authentic and makes you feel as if you've traveled back to the 1920's for a haircut.

Yelp
Why Get a Straight Razor Shave at Truefitt & Hill? This place occupies the position of one of the leading men's barber shops in the World, perhaps one of the oldest - and it is well deserved It's relaxing. The straight razor shave is the facial for manly men. The experience is definitely a treat. There's nothing like a hot towel on your face or the manly fragrance of shaving cream to sap the stress right out of your body. The few times I've gotten a straight razor shave, I've almost fallen asleep because it's so darn relaxing. Regarding a haircut... Unfortunately, many men today are missing out on the benefits of having a regular barber. As the barbershop tradition has faded, modern men just end up going to the closest unisex salon to get their hair cut. And each time they get they go, they end up with a different stylist and are forced to explain over and over again how they'd like it done. But "a little off the sides" means one thing to one stylist and another thing to another stylist. Stylists also have the tendency (in my experience) to try to correct what they see as mistakes that a previous barber/stylist made. Consequently, a man who goes to a unisex chain salon walks out with a completely different haircut at each visit. Not a good thing if you're trying to maintain a consistent image. Every man needs a reliable, skilled barber in his life. Having a regular barber will ensure that you get a consistent, sharp haircut with every visit. You can go in for a trim before a big interview without gambling on whether or not you'll come out looking like you were attacked by a weed whacker. I have now found a regular barber at Truefitt & Hill and do not regret the price as it is the best I have received in memory. I recommend Truefitt & Hill for men and for women to give as a gift to their man.

Yelp
Truefitt & Hill is my go to source for shaving creams and the like. I've tried many of the major brands, but the consistency and scents of T&H is the best in my opinion. When I was working in London I went here for a haircut, and its definitely an experience. No electronics at all, the whole thing is done with a variety of scissors and manual clippers. Its kind of an old school place with portraits of Lords and people like that, most of the customers are probably anglophile tourists and dowdy English politicians and City types - my kind of crowd!

Yelp
Been coming for here for over a year, and still impressed with the level of service. I always ask for Julie. She is a first rate barber, with great attention to detail. Great value for money.

Yelp
Unfortunately, I did not have a pleasant experience. The shave was mediocre, at best. The razor seemed to be blunt, so the barber was putting too much pressure. At the end, he never used a cold towel. Two hours later, I still had a burn. Oh, after checking myself in the mirror, I realized he had missed a couple of spots (patches of hair were visible) and the skin was obviously traumatized (multiple dried blood spots). Regarding the environment, it was nothing special; artificially decorated to look old without being old. On a positive note, the products he used seemed to be pretty good. In overall, the quality of the shave was rather poor, regardless of the price. I won't try them again.

Yelp
Just had a great shave by a cockney gent named Dennis after a friend got me a gift voucher. He was cheerful fellow who took my jokes about Sweeney Todd without getting too offended. Great to get out of the cold, the atmosphere was warm and friendly and scent used for both the shave and the aftershave were both to my liking. Great Birthday Memory.

Stephen M.

Yelp
I visited T&H London on 11 August for a shave - something I have never done before and I've wanted to try for years. I ended up with a 1 inch cut from the blade on my cheek and a £45 bill (and I wasn't even that impressed with the shave). I must say, the person who served me was courteous and was apologetic about the cut but I think some kind of discount should have been offered (and, no, I did not ask for one)

Mistuh H.

Yelp
This company was certified by Guinness as the oldest barber shoppe in the world, they have a Royal Charter and for good reason. Their products are top notch. I straight razor shave and they have incredible shaving creams. The lather is so rich and full it gives you an amazing shave. I ordered the Trafalgar and the Sandalwood and they are aromatic, gentle on your face and give a rich lather. They also have other shaving and bath products, including razors and brushes if your ready to ditch the lame, expensive disposables and step up to a straight razor. A word of caution on the creams, the scent can be a bit strong so if your skin is sensitive or if you work with people who have a problem with fragrances you may want to give yourself a little time before going around them. You can end up smelling like a Devil Dog who just got out of boot if you overdo it as well so there's your caution. Having said that , the Internet service for orders is timely and the prices are good, especially when you consider that one order can last over a year in my experience , as opposed to buying dozens of the poor quality spray can stuff you get in the grocery over the same period. You usually will spend less money in the long run so it's worth it all the way around. I also do something with these creams that high falootin' straight razor aficionados would probably cringe at. After you shave, try taking your badger hair brush and scrubbing your face with it and the cream that's left on the brush. I know, I know, terrible way to treat that brush, but it will give your face a superior cleaning. If you want a better shave than you've ever experienced imho try out Truefitt & Hill.

Yelp
my dad had the greek chap who was very good. over all the staff were all friendly and down to earth. will book another voucher for a member of the family.
