"Voted as one of the [world's top coffee shops](http://www.telegraph.co.uk/food-and-drink/drinks/the-worlds-best-coffee-shops/), a visit to the East City is incomplete without a caffeine stop at this steampunk inspired, quirky café. While the decor alone is something out of a film, the real reason locals flock here is to get their hands on a steaming cup of hand-roasted joe, believed to be crafted from the best beans in the city." - Infestation

"This steampunk-inspired, 19th-century artisan coffee roastery in an old warehouse in City Centre has become a tourist destination, thanks to its coffee lab vibe, gilded, industrial-chic interiors, vintage roaster complete with copper dispensers, gauges and hissing contraptions, and nattily dressed staff in full steampunk regalia. Truth is all about single-origin coffees, handpicked by the coffee-obsessed founder of Truth, David Donde. His blends have fabulous names: choose the chocolatey, high-acidity Resurrection blend for a flat white, the DDT (Deep, Dark and Twisted) for an Americano or the rich, nutty Vengeance blend as a pour-over coffee. The food's worth mentioning, too: In-house patisseur Kamal Hamzaoui hits the sweet spot with baba au rum, chocolate éclairs, and lemon meringue pie." - Jane Broughton

Rating: ★★☆☆☆ (2.5 stars) Visited Truth Coffee for a quick stop—ordered a coffee and hot chocolate which came to R108 (excluding tip). The vibe is definitely unique and it's cool that you can play board games while you’re there. However, the service was below average, especially considering the place wasn't busy. The coffee was just okay—at R60, it didn’t feel worth the price. It looked a lot better than it tasted. The hot chocolate was cold and watery at first, though they did replace it with a better one, but still nothing special. Would return more for the atmosphere than the drinks.

Today we experienced more than just coffee—we experienced Truth. One of the best coffee shops we’ve ever been to, right here in Cape Town. The atmosphere, the coffee, the energy—absolutely unforgettable. Special thanks to Mathabo for making it all feel even more perfect!

Great brunch spot in the heart of Cape Town! Stopped by Truth Coffee and was really impressed. The service was friendly and attentive, and the vibe of the place is super cool and unique. Had the bacon toastie — simple but delicious, with quality ingredients and perfectly crisped. Definitely recommend for a casual brunch or a coffee catch-up.

I have been coming to Truth Coffee for many years (even before the Best Coffee in the World title), and I have to commend them for consistency. Consistency in coffee, food and most importantly, service. I had the bacon and 3 cheese sandwich which was just delicious! It was this perfect mix of savory, salty and a tad sweet. Coffee was perfectly balanced and no, you really don’t need to add sugar. My friend and I were very happy all around. I only wish the lighting was 20% brighter. I get the whole steam punk thing, but it’s a bit too dark for us 40+ spectacle wearers ;)

Great tasting coffee, pastries and freshly baked goodies 😋 beans and other retail products can be purchased on premises. Industrial decor with great vibe, amazing service. Extensive menu options for sit down and take away. Ample seating for larger groups. Great spot, a Cape Town favourite ✨️

Go for the coffee. Husband liked his bacon and cheese sandwich — he asked for milk bread. My bagel was tough to chew, though the salmon filling was ok. Cool decor and loved the spinning coffee rack and old cash register.

The coffee is truly great. We also ordered the chicken and fries that were tasty, but the chicken was actually small. The staff are super lovely.

Really cool steampunk ambience and great service. The coffees are perfectly executed and I liked my avo toast, even though for my taste it lacked a little more seasoning, but I felt that in most places where I ate in Cape Town.
