Standard regional town chinese restaurant offerings! Ordered Cashew Chicken and Stay Chicken with Veg Fried Rice and 2x Veg Spring Rolls. The food was good however would lean towards westernised Chinese. This is not a bad thing! They have to service the demographic of their core customers. I don't mind that. Food was saltier than usual but by the time we were eating with fried rice, it seemed to even out. However, the Veg Fried rice quantity wasn't what I'd expect a large portion to be. Ordered Chilli Oil to go with which complemented tbe food well. We weren't hungry by the end of the meal. Given the town doesn't seem to have a heap of eateries, this is a decent option. Nothing extraordinary but good to try if you are over pub style meals during your travels. Overall, I'd say it's a good option for the town. However, not unique or authentic in its offerings. All the best!

Us being Asians, we always crave for Asian food whenever we travel. So it was a great relief when we found T’s Restaurant in the town of Sheffield. You know that it’s owned by an Asian when the food was delivered by a robot, efficiency at its best. We ordered the dumplings and a few of the stir fry dishes. The dumplings were a welcome from the cold winter. The stir fry featured the freshness of the greens and the poultry. Overall, a great respite from the western food that we had.

⭐ 1 Star I had family visiting from Queensland, and we went to this Chinese restaurant to celebrate our neighbour’s 83rd birthday. Big mistake. The service was completely impersonal — a robot brought the food, and we had no clue what any of the dishes were. We couldn’t even recognise some of them. Even the Mongolian lamb looked nothing like it should. Since when does it come with veggies and not sizzling? The food itself was dry, old, and tough. My elderly friend ordered sweet and sour chicken, and his gums actually started bleeding during the meal because of how bad it was. That says it all. I was embarrassed to have brought my family here after hearing “how good” this place was. It was far from good. The prices were ridiculous for the quality we got. Honestly, I can cook better Chinese food at home — and I’m not running a restaurant. The only decent thing were the spring rolls… and that’s me trying hard to find something nice to say. So very disappointing...

One of the best quality meats I had in a while at a Chinese restaurant, and that’s coming from a Singaporean Chinese myself. Although the food is not strongly flavoured/authentic, it is probably to accommodate for the local palate. They have been on food articles/magazines before, so that’s something! I learnt that during peak seasons, a lot of regional restaurants struggle with staffing to handle more traffic sometimes, hence can only accommodate so many people - so definitely book a table in advance! The wife was really nice to us, and Bella the robot was also quite a funny addition. We ordered the Mongolian lamb and BBQ pork, the portions are huge (2 dishes and rice is enough for 2 adults). We would definitely come back again when we pass by!! :)

So much more than we expected. From the delightful welcome by Kylie and chat during dinner, to the farm fresh paddock to plate to the Spicy Chicken meal that the King of Heat in our family loves - this was SO worth the drive! Fresh, modern Chinese food and a great dinner for granny and the picky teen! We will be back! And Belle the Bot was just a little unexpected element for us!

⭐☆☆☆☆ – Very disappointing experience We were really looking forward to trying this Chinese restaurant, but unfortunately the whole experience was very disappointing. The food was dry, tasted old, and lacked any freshness. We honestly couldn’t tell what some of the dishes were meant to be when they arrived — the meals were delivered by a robot although entertaining there was no explanation or interaction. Several items on the menu were unavailable, which was frustrating, especially after we had already decided what to order. The overall experience felt impersonal and poorly managed. For the price, we expected much better quality and service. Sadly, we won’t be returning or recommending this place. Replying to your review reply - Thanks for confirming exactly why our experience felt so impersonal and disappointing. Instead of addressing the feedback, you’ve chosen to insult your customers — a bold approach to hospitality. My review was truthful, and your defensive response only reinforces how poorly customer feedback is handled here.

The most succulent Chinese meal we have had in Tassie. We called ahead for takeaway and the lovely owner texted over the menu so we could order and pick up as soon as we arrived. So happy to find this hidden gem after a big day hiking at cradle mountain. Would highly recommend the Gong Bao chicken and yu shuang chicken & cashews and fried rice of course. All so Yummy! Have included some photos of the menu incase anyone needs it.

- First of all, I am surprised by your response, especially as you bring up my English ability and mention my Asian heritage. For your information, I have lived in Ireland for three years and Australia for two and a half years. By making such an assumption about me as an Asian, you’ve only exposed yourself as a racist. Secondly, why are you offended by us finishing the food? In our culture, finishing a meal is a sign of respect for the chef and their effort. I shared my honest opinion after completing the meal, so you have no right to dismiss me as a "keyboard warrior." My review was truthful and fair. Lastly, let me educate you on how to handle customer reviews. You can either take feedback to improve or choose to ignore it. However, your response clearly reflects the attitude you displayed towards us during our visit. It only validates the hurtful remarks you made to us in person. Blaming me for "hurting your small business" is misguided—you are doing that yourself through your behavior. Thankfully, my experiences at other restaurants in Sheffield were wonderful. While I can’t recommend your establishment, I hope your business succeeds and you engage with customers more respectfully. - First and foremost, I acknowledge that there are locals who love and frequently visit this place, and I respect that. However, my review is strictly based on my personal experience. Reviews exist for a reason—they’re meant to help both businesses improve their services and assist travelers or customers in making informed decisions. Although I took down my initial review at the merchant's request, I stand by my belief that constructive feedback should not be silenced. Telling me that you’re the only Asian restaurant in town catering to local, non-Asian tastes does not justify diminishing my rights as a customer. My critique regarding the food was simply to warn others who may share similar tastes or preferences—whether they are Asian or not. It’s not about race; it’s about taste. Those who had positive experiences should and likely will leave their own glowing reviews. My review reflects my personal experience, which cannot and should not be dismissed or erased. Now, regarding the service: I stand by what I said. In a small-town restaurant, the relationship and interaction between servers and customers should be visible and genuine. However, to have someone tell me, “You’re in Australia, in Tasmania—this is how we do things here. You’re a tourist, so accept it and don’t complain,” was beyond disappointing. Excuse me? As a paying customer, I have the full right to dine in, share my experience, and express my honest opinions. To feel even the slightest undertone of racism when those words were said to me was infuriating. I refuse to accept any form of compensation to remove my review. I paid, and I walked out with my dignity intact. The repeated statement from the owner that the food is tailored to "white people's tastes" felt not only dismissive but borderline offensive, especially when a specific country was mentioned. To me, this isn’t about race—it’s about preference. For those who prefer less salty food, this may not be the place for you. Short Summary of Original Post: 1. The Garlic Vegetables should have been called Soy Sauce Vegetables. 2. The Gong Bao Chicken was so salty it bordered on bitterness. 3. The Fried Chicken Dim Sum had no visible fried chicken. 4. The Guo Tie was disappointing in appearance and taste. Service: Bella, the robot, deserves a 10/10 for service. The human staff, however, barely warrant a 2/10. There was almost no engagement during the meal—empty plates weren’t collected, and tea wasn’t refilled. For a small-town restaurant, I expected better service and more meaningful interaction with customers. A final note: Be aware that they only inform you of a minimum spending requirement after seating you and taking your order. While others may have had good experiences here, mine was disappointing—particularly the hurtful remarks from the owner. I hope this review helps both tourists and locals alike.

Yelp
Delicious food. We had the ginger fish, sautéed veggies and sweet and sour pork. Sweet and sour pork is better than regular Chinese restaurants as it was both sweet and sour rather than just sweet!!! Interesting version of ginger fish and veggies were delicious and sautéed to perfection. Highly recommend this restaurant in Sheffield.

Yelp
We ordered a beef and a lamb dish, but cannot tell which one is which. Tasting same sauce and same meat... And salty. A bit over price as well.
