It’s sometimes very clear when a hotel owner prioritizes money before service and hospitality. This is the case with Mr Tsikelis Ioannis, owner of this ”boutique” hotel, which paper-thin walls and doors makes its sound insulation feel more like a cheap youth hostel. We called beforehand and specifically asked for a quiet room. The room, which we paid a premium for to get the Meteora rock view (in this case with the addition of an astro-turfed patio and adjacent trafficked road), was on top of the restaurant. When we asked to change the room to a more quiet one we got a downgrade to a cheaper room, with no refund of the price difference. In the morning we made a friendly complaint about the bad sound insulation and poor cleaning. We were met by ”nice words” but no offer of any compensation, instead we were asked to pay the 1,50 EUR tourist tax. Not even taking this cost on the house felt really ridiculous. A friendly email to Mr Tsikeli, the owner, was replied with the same ignorance as from the reception staff. We strongly discourage this hotel. The ”boutique” prefix feels more than anything like an excuse for an unreasonable price mark-up. To prove that I’m not just a complaining type, I have to add that the breakfast was great, a total contradiction to the rest of the experience. The rooms are nicely decorated and the bed comfortable, however the bathroom is very small and does not hold the expected standard.||In the hotel's reply to my review in another forum, the hotel accused me of intending to "use the power of online reviews as a means of pressure or an implied threat in order to demand a refund". This is not true. Please check and compare with other reviews and you can make your own assessment on who is more reliable - the hotel staff and management or independent, honest reviews like this one and others.
