Tsugaike Kogen Ski Resort

Lovely resort with many ski in/ski out options around the large green slopes at the bottom. Good diversity of slopes, more on the beginner/low intermediate side. Less local than Yuzawa Onsen, mainly western owned restaurants and snacks around town with good food options up there for lunch. We were lacking a bit of snow mid December so some parts were closed but we could still ski down to the bottom unlike other resorts like Happo One or Iwatake.

Nice ski resort with many slopes suits for all levels. Food not many options at mid station. So long queue and long wait for food. But need to take note of entry points for each slope if you are beginner to immediate level types. If you drive, is better to look out for weather forecasts. Especially heavy snow and your car may be stuck. Depending your driving skill and car type.

Date visited: 12.20.2025 Crowd: 🧍🧍🧍🧍 Well the good part of this resort comparing to other ones at Hakuba is that you do get a lot more shops, small hotels and restaurants here right at where the lift is. A lot of shuttle buses would stop here and that’s exactly why it gets so crowded. It is a gondola which you can take it up and down if you would love to. The lift ticket is very expensive if you buy it directly through the counter. ¥8800. But if you ask around, the rental shops have it for a cheaper price I believe ¥7000 per day. The bottom part of very very flat and icy. For first timer it may be good to learn at a flat area but I do find it too flat and icy. 🥶 not my favourite spot I don’t think I’ll come back again.

Came on 3rd & 20th dec. Heavy snowfall on the first week, but only gondola lift was opened. On the official day, all lifts were open including burger king, but snow was about 110cm thick means less powder. Stylish outfits for rental here & free foot baths to dip at the bottom gondola.

great ski resort for beginners! has a WOW playground with rental snow play equipment at midstation. also check with lost and found if you ever lose your lift ticket! thank you for finding our missing two day ticket🥰🥰🥰

Great long runs! The kids had a blast and there was enough snow to ski all the way down to the bottom this early in the season!

Tsugaike holds a special place in my heart. Very wide and very long slopes are well suited for learners and those wanting a more relaxed experience. It was busy when I was here, but it never felt 'crowded'. Experts or those wanting more of a challenge may find the runs themselves a bit lacking, or the gondola ride long. But even though I would move on to the higher-level resorts further south later in the week, I could never be disappointed with the experience at Tsugaike. Lots of restaurants and bars on these slopes and in this village too, and a convenience store is near the base if you want to stock-up before taking the bus out.

Great place for beginners. The green runs a wide and long. If you are a beginner, this is the best in Hakuba Valley.
