Such a beautiful hike and we met lots of great people along the way. Like the man who volunteers at the irori and makes tea for the hikers or the women who sold 3-4 ripe figs for 100 yen. And the man who sold us our Japanese chop sticks seemed like such a sweet man who told (and showed) us about the process on how they were made.

It was a great weather. This village was very serene after getting out from big cities. Every certain point, they had water wheels and small water fountain that makes the village more livable and tells the significance of water as a resources back in the old days. Every buildings were preserved in very well quality and makes the town vibrant and historic. All the visitors there were very polite and respectful and that makes this area more lovable for me.

Tsumago-juku is a step back into Japan's Edo period, beautifully preserved and rich with history. Walking through this quaint post town feels like entering a time capsule, with wooden buildings, narrow lanes, and traditional shops that capture the essence of old Japan. The lack of modern distractions lets you truly appreciate the historical atmosphere, and the locals’ dedication to keeping this heritage alive adds to the experience. The scenic backdrop of mountains and forests only enhances the charm, making it a peaceful escape. Tsumago-juku is a must-visit for anyone interested in Japan’s history and timeless beauty.

I went here on a tour, it was nice and even saw some cats in a store. The buildings are quite old and not much people visit this place (at my time of visit).
