Our experience at the mixed-gender bath was problematic due to its male dominance and the open nudity of some men, who were visible to anyone passing through to the changing rooms or even near the "tunnel" entrance. This was very off-putting for my wife, who decided not to proceed into the mixed area. I spent about ten minutes in the mixed section and did not observe any women present. We found the water in the separate baths to be considerably hotter.

I went to this onsen on a day trip. I had a fantastic time. The water is of top quality . There are ways to shield the gender difference when a female enters the mixed onsen. Out of the many onsen I have been, I rate this the best. wish that I had stayed there instead of merely going as a daytripper. I love the rustic and traditional inn vibe.

This place is fantastic and I’m dreaming about going back again. Men have 3 indoor baths + outside bath that is mixed. To go from the two indoor baths to the outside/indoor one, you’ll need to have clothes on and walk through a public path way so keep this in mind. The pools were all high in sulfer and minerals which was good but had variety of different heat levels, outdoor was lukewarm. Each bath has a cold water stream and recommend to take a dunk after each time in hot water. It’s cash only and they have lockers for 100 yen. I got towel set (1200 yen) and they give you small towel + big color towel and it’s nice you can choose a different color! Today, one day onsen visit ended at 3:30pm. They have bus shuttle that can take you back to the JR station. The last one ends at 3:20pm Overall, wonderful place to spend a few hours relaxing and enjoying nature. People are very laidback. The staff was friendly towards me even though I’m a foreigner. Tattoo friendly given I saw many people with it.

The place is beautiful but amenities seem to be a little small to serve the big amount of people visiting. Rustic and peaceful ambience but for me was not worth the effort to drive all the way there. Maybe for Onsen lovers is worth it

The hot spring is nice and has a milk-like color, which is quite relaxing. However, the facilities are as outdated as my grandpa’s favorite chair. It’s got that vintage charm, but let’s just say it could use a little modern TLC.

A hot spring famous as a secret hot spring. Just running on unpaved mountain roads will make U feel excited. U can use the hot springs for a day trip or stay overnight, but the opening hours are until 3:00 pm for day trips, but the opening hours seem to be shorter during holidays due to the crowds. The hot spring has an indoor bath and a mixed outdoor bath. During the day, the atmosphere is open, so mixed outdoor bathing is not very appealing. There are two indoor baths: the lukewarm ``Shiroyu'' and the hot ``Kuroyu.'' Both bathtubs are small, but the atmosphere is outstanding with the taste of the buildings, dimly lit interiors, and milky white water. You will feel warm forever and the quality of the hot springs is good. Recommended for those who want to experience a secret hot spring.

Had a day visit for onsen. Lunch there was also good.

Had an unforgettable night in the snowy mountains of Akita. The stay offered a unique experience with multiple hot springs and traditional Japanese meals. The room was almost too warm, thanks to a powerful heater. Though it might be challenging for those not accustomed to local food, as alternative dining options are limited in the area.

Yelp
One of the best experience I've had visiting Japan, I most say I have had my share of visiting different onsens (hot springs) but this one is pretty laid back and it is very old school. So people leave the phones, because their is no way of getting any kind of service up in those hills lol. This place is just beautiful and I see the pass here and history and how beautiful this culture is. If you're not crazy about modern types of onsens then this is the place for you. The price is pretty good, it cost us about ¥600 ($6.00) and you can stay as long as you want. Of course women have their side and men have the other side. They have two kind of water dark and white water but are hot and feels really good on your skin. My wife told me that she didn't want to get out and I agree. This place is beautiful and great so visit them if you get the chance you will love it! I would definitely go back, my body felt great after my soak!
