I was craving for udon and looked up nearby restaurants while we were at Shinjuku. This showed up and we went to give it a try for an early dinner. There was no queue but we were shocked by how big the portion of udon were! I had a cold udon with tempura at the 1x portion and could barely finish it. My boyfriend also ordered the autumn special, mushroom cream udon with grilled scallops at 2x portion (upsize for free!). Both dishes were amazing but be warned about the portions. We also ordered dango for dessert, not knowing how big the portions were. The noodles were really chewy and my cravings were satisfied.

Absolutely delicious noodles with so much flavour. I had the autumnal feature with mushrooms and scallops. The broth was very rich. The restaurant is a little chaotic when you first arrive as you need to register for a ticket and wait to be seated. The waiting area is crowded and not super accommodating for wheelchair users. You order from the iPad which is convenient

TaurusTonTan was recommended to me by a local friend. It was conveniently located close to our hotel so we decided to check it out for a late lunch after some morning shopping. We came in around 14:30 and had to queue for about 10 minutes. Once seated we ordered our food from the touch screen. As a person that sometimes find the portion sizes to big in Japan, I loved that I could order a smaller potion of noodles. As for someone who is very hungry, you can order a bigger portion. I also like that I can choose between thin and thick udon noodles (I prefer the thinner kind). We waited about 20-30 mins for our food. It was worth the wait. Highly recommend and will be back next time I am in Tokyo.

Tourist trap. The udon is soggy & overpriced, the raw fish on the sushi tiny… Try any other local place than this. It was not busy at all on weekday lunch time but I waited almost half an hour for the carbonara udon to come out.

From the moment we stepped into TsuruTonTan Udon Noodle Brasserie, we knew we were in for something special. This isn’t your average noodle shop — it’s a sleek, stylish udon sanctuary that blends traditional Japanese craftsmanship with contemporary flair. The menu is a love letter to udon lovers. Whether you're a purist craving classic broth or an adventurer ready to dive into creamy, spicy, or even truffle-infused variations, TsuruTonTan delivers. We tried the Mentaiko Cream Udon and the Beef Sukiyaki Udon, and both were next-level. The noodles were thick, chewy, and perfectly slurpable — handmade and impossibly fresh. Presentation is on point, too. The bowls are massive and beautifully plated, making each dish feel like a culinary event. Portions are generous (you can even choose how many servings of noodles you want — dangerous, in the best way). The sides and cocktails are no afterthought either — the crispy karaage, wagyu sushi, and craft drinks complemented the meal flawlessly. The vibe is intimate but buzzing. Dim lighting, cool décor, and a trendy soundtrack give the space an upscale brasserie feel while keeping it casual enough for a spontaneous dinner or night out with friends. Service was warm and professional — quick with recommendations and always attentive. If you're looking for a spot that elevates udon to an art form while still keeping it soul-satisfying and cozy, TsuruTonTan is an absolute must. We left full, happy, and already planning our next visit.

JAN 2025 Came here before dinner time and waited about 40 minutes for a table. The restaurant is pretty big with a main dining area, some counter seats, and another dining area down the corridor. Ordering is via the touch pad and I had the thinly sliced shabu beef loin curry udon. All their udon is served in an oversized bowl which gives an illusion of eating a very large portion. The beef loin has some marbling and was very soft, you can easily finish it in one bite. The curry soup was slightly thick, enough to stick onto the udon; it was flavorful with barely any heat. Udon was thick but texture was on the softer side, preferred if it was slightly more springy. Overall pretty tasty but not worth queuing for more than ten minutes.

How is this place only rated 4.1!!?? Amazing experience, beautiful view of Tokyo, super affordable as well (Maybe about 1500 yen for a HUGE bowl of udon). Superb atmosphere, and there were a lot of locals. Fantastic place, definitely recommend. Btw, try getting the circular-couch tables near the window, those are great.

As a food lover exploring a new city, I stumbled upon a popular franchise udon restaurant that’s clearly a local favorite—and a hit with tourists too. The place is known for its wide variety of udon dishes, all served in impressively massive bowls that are as satisfying as they are eye-catching. It’s well-organized and tourist-friendly, offering queueing and menu options in four major languages, which makes the whole experience smooth and welcoming. If you’re visiting the city, this spot is definitely worth checking out—both for the flavors and the fun of diving into a giant bowl of hearty, delicious udon.
