If you're looking for an authentic Vietnamese restaurant that offers good value meals that's healthy and quickly served, you'd be hard pressed to go past Tu Do Vietnamese restaurant. Everything here is done well. From the classic rice paper spring rolls to the rare beef pho, the freshness, flavours fragrance and textures are amazing; and makes you reminisce about the visit to Vietnam if you've been or entice you to want to go. Meals are of good size that satisfies without being heavy or leaving you feeling wanting more. Service from the family run restaurant is friendly, fast and welcoming. Tables are of various sizes to cater for different size groups. Definitely worth a visit.

Have been here number of times over the years! The quality of the food is not bad and fairly consistent. The pho broth was pretty nice but serving portions could have been improved and didn’t have as many types of ingredients compared to others. The pork chop was nice but a little fry. Overall a good option for Vietnamese in cbd area.

Excellent food. A popular local spot (well patronised by locals). If you’re in Canberra I’d highly recommend visiting

I really like this place. The owners are friendly and the food is hearty healthy and just good for a day like today when it's cold. Really good soup and so much more.we eat there pretty often.

Hygiene Concerns! Had lunch here recently, and while it was quiet during the day, me and my partner witnessed with some shock how the owners had allowed their children to set the dining tables. One of the kids dropped some chop sticks on the floor, picked them up and neatly placed them on the table... waiting for a customer to use them next. We were shocked by this, imagine we walk on toilet floors, the street with all kinds of bacteria and then we walk into the restaurant and children with no food hygiene training are allowed to set the tables and touch cutlery with their dirty hands. I had to personally remove those chop sticks from the table as my conscience would not let me live with myself knowing someone might eat with contaminated cutlery. 🤢 The food was good, however we have chosen to not go back and eat at this restaurant. (sadly)

Reliable and enjoyable dinner venue. Food is fresh and tasty. The banana fritters were yum. Relaxed atmosphere.

Visited Friday 9th August Late lunch Ordered Pho Dac Biet noodle soup The flavours are there, beef slices, beef balls, soft textured noodles, and a great broth Downside is there's no tripe in it, not sure if it was a thing in Canberra though, and the contents looked small compared to many Pho's I've eaten in my lifetime And the mint leaves look dry but still okay Sate sauce and chilli sauce not too spicy, but also not bland, decent spiciness Amazing service and greetings

Yelp
Food: I really hate to say this, but I think Tu Do put me off pho from the very first time I had it (which happened to be at Tu Do). The broth was extremely sweet and the beef was just a little chewy, which is surprising for thin sliced beef. The only things I do recommend on their menu is their entrees, which are out of this world. Be aware, though, that some of their fried entrees are extremely greasy. Let it sit and drain for a while more before tucking in. My favorite: fresh spring rolls. Service: abrupt, sometimes down right rude. When I go to Tu Do, I often go by myself and I find that they tend to ignore me in favor of their larger groups. Yet, when I go with a group, they tend to perform better. Atmosphere: Tu Do is a small little restaurant that can sit large groups, albeit with tiny corners and space between tables. It can get very busy during their lunch/dinner times and you will find that your party and you might have a hard time hearing each other as the night wears on. For couples and singles like me, I also find that sometimes the cashier will just sit there and stare at you. Quite discomforting. Conclusion: get take away and picnic in your balcony.

Yelp
This place is completely unassuming, but worth a stop if you're hungry and in a rush. Just don't stop in summer. It gets hot in there. The food is quality and quick, but the restaurant is a bit primitive. The outhouse had a sink, but no soap. Yes, the outhouse. Soooo yeah, there's that. #HandSanitizerWin

Yelp
Average Vietnamese food. Seems to have gone down in quality over the years which is unfortunate. Used to love this place. I wander into civic now to get my Vietnamese fix. Come here for standard Vietnamese Asian fare but don't expect to be blown away.

Yelp
Friendly staff, good food. Pretty good pho, which is what attracted me initially. I've branched out a little in recent visits. The whole fried fish was pretty glorious at just under $30. With a vege side that makes a hot meal for two. The best thing about the place is how friendly the owner/manager is. Always smiling, always chatty. Here's a story though. Last time I went a kid was eating at the table next to me with her mum. Maybe 4 years old. As she gets up to leave, she takes three steps towards me and then start projectile vomiting. Hurling. This beige, chunky stream. Team America all over again. Halfway through this exorcism, her eyes shift. BAM! She's looking at me right in the eyes. I'm staring at this little girl, she's staring at me. She's got a fountain of regurgitated rice-paper roll (otherwise delicious by the way) connecting her mouth to the floor. And her face is emotion-less, so free of embarrassment, with maybe only a hint of confusion. Very memorable! NOTE THAT THIS EXPERIENCE IS NOT REPRESENTATIVE OF THE PLACE. In fact, the waiter came over and he was so cool about the whole thing. He saw the funny side, and was cleaning it up before the mother could even apologise. I think their prices may have gone up recently, but it's still decent value - you can get a meal for about $15 each.

Yelp
The vegetarian options are basically variations on unflavoured boiled vegetables. Not worth even trying.

Yelp
highly overrated for pho, and the fried rice is a downer, but on the flip side, the prawn crackers are quite pleasant!
