Tubby’s - It’s just a bar.

I came here because on the surface, the name of this place appeals directly to me (I've put on a few pounds right ahead of speedo season unfortunately... And the rumpus dip really isn't helping 😔) With delicious hot dogs (the a bomb is different every time - what the heck?!), fantastic servers (shoutout Hannah), and big buck hunter RELOADED in the corner, the bar has something for everyone. I just wish they served a good reisling, but I'm told they're "not that kind of spot". At least they have an endless supply of great champagne (of beers) to make up for it. Five stars.

We came in tonight for my husband’s (who is a hotdog fanatic) birthday. I didn’t catch the bartenders name but she was amazing and the owner John was great. Bonded with my husband over hotdogs lol. Definitely check it out!

The most bizarre experience. Thrown out on our tails! Six of us went in for drinks on Wednesday and were warmly welcomed. Stayed for a couple of hours, our 12 and 17 year olds played on the arcade game and we chatted to the staff. Had a great evening and were really well looked after. We noticed the advert for NFL and asked if they were showing the game the following day and they confirmed they were. We told them we’d be back in to watch it, thanked them and tipped generously before leaving (photo below to prove we were there). We returned the following day (Thursday) at the same time (5.30pm) and found a table. We were initially acknowledged by a member of staff and we sat down before been handed menus and advised they’d take our drinks order at the table. Having sat down and taken our coats off and got comfortable, the same member of staff returned, collected the menus off the table and told us to leave as they did not allow children in the bar. I politely advised them that we’d been exactly the same time the night before and was told that the owner was in and had said that we could not have children in the bar due to his licence. The worst and most unfriendly, inconsistent treatment that we have experienced in our trip to Canada from the UK. We were literally turfed out having just sat down in front of the rest of the bar. I absolutely have no problem with bars which don’t allow children, but the treatment above was shocking and done with absolutely no compassion, apology or understanding. In a service led industry, this place should be struck off the map.

Amazing hot dogs!! Absolutely delicious and unique flavours! The atmosphere is amazing and the staff are great! Quick and timely service and very helpful with questions! Definitely will be coming back for my hot dog cravings! Highly recommended, one of the best hot dogs in town :)

Such a cute bar. Casual, cosy and with a touch of trendy. Cool drinks plus HOT DOGS. If you never had a tubby dog on 17th, now is your chance. Negronis are delicious.

What a bar! New York style in the heart of Calgary. Hardly any beers on tap but plenty in bottles and cans, and staple cocktails too. Simple food menu of hot dogs etc. The Tubby hot dog is to die for, a perfect flavour profile for just $7! The owner is super friendly. A great bar vibe, dim lights, just perfect in so many ways. Severn our server was excellent.

Sunday school long weekend edition with DJ Rice! Leave it to Rice to bring together friends I have not seen in ages. So many familiar faces from the night gallery days and finally getting a chance to know them. Bartender Charlie is a good man. I have not been to Tubby since their days on 17th Ave. Love the spot! Cozy...need to come out more!

I was devastated when the original Tubby Dog closed, skeptical when I heard they were reopening as a bar, and relieved when I finally got a chance to visit. I'm happy to report that Tubby's is back! No, this isn't the Tubby Dog from your millennial youth; Tubby's is for your millennial adulthood. I feel like it has grown up with me. The menu has all of your favourite original dogs with a few new options. Yes, you can still get chips on your hot dog but now you can get it with a pint of craft beer in a comfortable seat. Everything comes fully loaded with potato salad, chips, and a pickle on the side. This is a great spot to grab a quick bite after work but be warned: hot dog service ends at 10pm. No late night dogs here.

He let me touch his Weiner. It tasted very good though a white sause that came out if though but it tasted nice. I highly recommend this place!

I don't think I've ever been to a place where the alcohol is undrinkable. But this is it. Worst drink, worst service, kitchen closes early. This is not the old tubby dog. Save your time and money.
